So... they basically blocked this video because of one song. GREAT. Without telling me. EVEN GREATER. I muted it. Here. Enjoy. Thanks for killing it, youtube.
I distinctly remember the dark green with mistletoe and ornaments patterned wrapping paper my grandparents used when I got Digimon World for Christmas 2000. Thanks for bringing that memory back out. Looking forward to watching this.
Your grandparents had a great taste for getting you the game, haha! It makes me happy that it imprinted so much on your memory, it's funny how our brains make us remember such silly (yet at the same point beautiful in their simplicity) things. I hope you' won't get disappointed by the rest of it! Thanks for checking out the video! It means a lot to me!
As someone going through a hard time, looking back at those core childhood memories, I just want to thank you for this gift. It means more to me than I can say that anyone held these experiences true and dear to their heart and felt changed by it, silly as that is
@solatis Hello. Sorry for making you wait with my response, I just... didn't really know what to say, but I'll try anyway. Firstly, I wanted to sincerly thank you for giving this video a chance and watching it. It feels so nice to know that people enjoy it (I was genuinelly surprised with how positive the response was, especially after rewatching it a few times myself, cringing a bit at how it could have been made so much better). Also, it makes me happy that my childhood memories resonate with others', that just like me, people can go reminisce about easier times. Once more, thank you for watching and taking your time to leave a comment. As silly as that is, it's really meaningful to me, ya know? ...and that's very sad to see. I wish you best and I hope that you'll manage to go through it as smoothly as possible. I'm not going to say trite that "everything is going to be okay", because, sincerly, I don't have the knowledge, life is life and that's kind of meaningless statement from a rando like me. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Once more, thanks and I wish you the best.
I finally made it to the end! and wow, what a journey this was. you portraied everything perfectly in my opinion...the pacing was great, the facts were very helpful (I learned so much i didnt know about this game) and I feel especially honored to be featured in this big project as well, so let me say THANK YOU for creating this! Now, I hope more people will come to see this in the future and hopefully not forget about this game that means so much to a lot of us.
It's really weird to get a comment on your own work from someone whose work you admire. To be honest... I was very, VERY nervous about you actually watching the whole thing. Thank you for all these hours, I know it was a lot and of dubious quality at points, but I hope you enjoyed it at least a tiny bit! Now you know everything I know, I have nothing more to teach you! Hope it will be of use to you and your road for 100%! And of course, thanks for being a part of it. I can't imagine the whole thing without your remixes or the ones made by other talented people I've included here. Digimon World (and, well, Digimon fanbase as a whole) community is amazing and full of talented people, I wanted to have a tiny insignificant part in it. I don't think it can be forgotten. Hell, to this day it is one of the top 10 (probably in the top 5) downloaded PS1 ROMs of all time! It's just so special that no matter how Bandai will try to kick us down and make false promises... we'll still be there. Waiting and smiling.
As a long time Pokémon and Digimon fan, I do say, take that, Pokémon fans! Digimon was first! Not only that, but by roughly 8 months, even. This is a very good video, that I am going to take a couple of sessions, broken up, to watch fully. Thanks for the hard work in putting all this together.
Yeah, the fact of Pokemon and Digimon both being developed at about the exact same time was quite interesting. Thanks for deciding to check it out! I hope that you'll like the rest of it. I know that it is quite a daunting task, but I hope that the chapter structure and the "segments list" will make it bit easier to return to the exact moment you left it in. Again, thanks for taking interest in it!
@@Hodyna I grew up with a younger brother playing both Pokémon and Digimon games together. We often set up our own teams on separate Memory cards, to put against each other in Digimon World. Needless to say, we both remain both Digimon and Pokémon fans, to this day, we still go for matches when we meet, every once in a while. So, a video like this is getting eaten up.
I envy you. My sister was way too young to play with me when I started my Digimon adventure. To be honest I was the only one interested in Digimon when I was a kid. ...we trade Pokemon sometimes, though.
...to be perfectly honest... I think I could squeeze about 1 hour more by making Digimon tier list and expanding the legacy segment, but... I couldn't make it "fun", so I scraped it. What can I say, I like that type of content and just wanted to make something that I would enjoy watching. Thanks for checking it out.
And here I thought Waybetheboss' 1 hour and a half Digimon World video was already a lot. You deserve all the subs in the World, I don't even want to imagine the time it took you to put together such a massive video like that.
Thank you for giving this video a chance, subscribing and commenting - making this video was my dream and knowing that people enjoy it makes it even more worth. Making this video was a journey, I'm not going to lie. ...though I'm pretty sure that if I had optimized my workflow, made more notes etc., it would take 20% less time and effort, haha. But oh well, mistakes of a beginner I guess. Once more, thanks for all.
@@kernium So far I plan to make five more "introspective look at" series, each with its own theme. Currently I'm working on "[REGRET] - an introspective look at Tombi! 2" - first part of it should be released somewhere in early February. They not going to be AS LONG as [NOSTALGIA], though. ...at least I hope so. I'll probably make some smaller, less "heavy" videos about other games from my past, I think that would be fun too. ...and a nice "break" from main videos. As for Digimon games... most of my thoughts are already in the video in the "Legacy of Digimon World" segment. I played other games in the series (a lot), but never to the extent of the first one. ...well... I played Next Order A LOT (100+h and a platinum trophy in PS4 version ~60h in Switch version, ~25h in PS Vita version), so maybe that's in the cards... SOMEDAY. If Bandai, for whatever reason, will release another Digimon World game, I'll throw everything to complete it and make a video of it, though.
i had just found your video by accident by looking for digimon content and im absolutely blown away by this series it was fun watching someone who has the same love and passion for the digimon world series
Hello! Thanks for checking it out, staying and enjoying it. I'm really happy to hear that you liked it! While making this series I tried to make videos that I would personally enjoy. It shocks me that so many people are actually so positive about the end product.
Thanks for staying here, watching and commenting. Hearing that you've enjoyed my project means a lot to me, you know? Wishing you all the best and I hope that you'll enjoy more of my stuff when it happens. Once more, thanks.
Thanks! I had a lot of fun picking the tracks for certain scenes. To be honest, until I started making my own videos I didn't really see how IMPORTANT a right music track at the right moment is. And... sure, I believe that some of my picks could be... interesting, in the end I think they did alright. But yeah, I wanted to put something from David Bowie and Starman seemed perfect for the job. I'm happy to hear that someone's enjoying my selection! And darn, you got far into the video quickly, haha.
I actually got inspired to grab Next Order (its on sale on switch rn) so I finished the video while i played that last night. I missed stuff though so I'm giving it another listen. I remember a section in the first half where you mentioned a place that most casual players dont ever see, but I didnt catch what that place was, I'm determined to find out where that was! The whole video was great btw. It's almost a shame theres so much useful information being displayed on screen, as I think a lot of people will consume this long form content as something going on in background. Edit: It was bug land lol@@Hodyna
@@RaineyDaysStudio Yeah, Beetle Land gets skipped a lot. Sorry for making your hopes up! I was shocked to discover it (and Back Dimension) when I played the game again 11 years ago. As for the info's on the screen... I didn't want to info dump TOO much by reading it completely as that would completely kill the pace of the video. It's a bit like a guide - if you need something, you can just get to it. But yeah, I'm completely aware of most people listening to it (...which kind of terrifies me, as I wanted to compensate my... shortcomings associated with reading and the audiosphere, with the imagery) - it's a long-ass video and finding enough time to check it out is... a lot, to be honest. Let's treat the text as a bonus for attentive watchers/second-watch bonuses! I hope you won't be disappointed with my recommendation! I really think that Next Order is great (I would say that Switch is actually the best platform to experience it - thanks to it being the portable PS4 port, though playing the PC version on Steamdeck seems like a great idea too, I just haven't tried it) and a natural progression of the series. ...who knows, maybe we'll get another DIgimon World game like that in the future... I just hope that the Digimon list will be... more curated - there's a lot of Digimon available to the player! ...but most of them feel really samey, when in the original Digimon World (and Re:digitize PSP version to some degree) each one was truly unique. ...I forgot to mention it in that "quick" review. It's my only gripe with the game, though (and it being slower and more linear than the original). But thanks for watching, commenting and your overall support! It means a lot to me! Sadly, I can't put your name on the credits (as the video was already released after all), but I'll be putting it in the credits of every future videos along the others. Thank you for going on this journey with me.
@@Hodyna thank YOU for making this! Scratched an itch that’s been there for a long time. Also, have you ever gone out of your way to collect the OTHER stat boost items? I seem to remember one of them dropping from the J-Mojyamon rather infrequently. Definitely agree with next order being slower! I had the misfortune of one of my initial partners achieving ultimate… and the other dying. So I’ve got 2 guys that are essential on different life cycles now, a bit annoying. Also, the human characters! Maybe I’m just older now, but oh man I had to just skip through that stuff 😂 And you hit the nail on the head about partners feeling samey. I’ve already had 2 forms of Kyubimon (fox tail inferno is air elemental? Lol!) I genuinely do not think we’ll get a game that ever matches DW1. It’s simply not possible, it’s a relic of its era, but even in its own time felt like some weird, different artifact. Sorry for blasting you with a million comments, but it’s been great sharing this niche passion!
@@RaineyDaysStudio Don't worry, I love getting comments (and being able to respond to them)! It's really nice to have others to share passion with! Yeah, at one point (years before) I had every stat boosting item. There are six of them: Power Fruit (offense) from Vermilimon, Power Ice (defense) from Rockmon, Speed Leaf (speed) from IceDevimon, Sage Fruit (brains) from Piddomon, Muscle Yam (HP) from MoriShellmon and Calm Berry (MP) from BlueMeramon. Some of them can be also found in the wild (as in 1% spawns in select locations). J-Mojyamon drops Giant Meat infrequently - yeah, only really annoying Digimon drop stat boosters, sadly. As for Next Order... I initially also was quite annoying when my DIgimon ended at different life stages... but then I discovered INSANE training bonuses that the "weaker" Digimon gets. That difference can make your second Digimon obscenely strong. ...also... I strongly advise you to play the game on "easy" as it was the difficulty the game was designed for (it was the only one in the Japanese version). Trainings being debuffed really isn't all that fun.

To be honest I was the only one interested in Digimon when I was a kid.
...we trade Pokemon sometimes, though.
man, theres nothing better than someone talking about what they love for as long as they can muster
...to be perfectly honest... I think I could squeeze about 1 hour more by making Digimon tier list and expanding the legacy segment, but... I couldn't make it "fun", so I scraped it.
What can I say, I like that type of content and just wanted to make something that I would enjoy watching.
Thanks for checking it out.
What a Masterpiece ❤
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm incredibly grateful for everyone who has watched the "original run". Thanks for keeping me motivated!
@Hodyna I wonder if you'll do follow-up videos on other Digimon games or even games from other series that shaped your childhood/teenage years.
I really enjoy your work, thank you and good luck.
Thanks for staying here, watching and commenting. Hearing that you've enjoyed my project means a lot to me, you know?
Wishing you all the best and I hope that you'll enjoy more of my stuff when it happens.
Once more, thanks.
This made my drive to work for the last week a lot more interesting. Thank you!
Haha, I have no idea why would you want to torture yourself by listening to it sound only, but I'm glad you've enjoyed it!
@@Hodyna I've played the game so much over the years I don't even need to see it 🤣
@@WellDressedPunks I would say that there are some pretty fun visuals here and there, haha.
@@Hodyna I'll probably rewatch it at some point. It's my fave game ever so I often watch and rewatch reviews I find on here.
Awesome tracks used btw; the Starman remix totally caught me off guard
Maybe I’m just older now, but oh man I had to just skip through that stuff 😂
And you hit the nail on the head about partners feeling samey. I’ve already had 2 forms of Kyubimon (fox tail inferno is air elemental? Lol!)
I genuinely do not think we’ll get a game that ever matches DW1.
There are six of them:
Power Fruit (offense) from Vermilimon, Power Ice (defense) from Rockmon, Speed Leaf (speed) from IceDevimon, Sage Fruit (brains) from Piddomon, Muscle Yam (HP) from MoriShellmon and Calm Berry (MP) from BlueMeramon.
Trainings being debuffed really isn't all that fun.
go hodyna go!
Thank you so much for being a part of this journey!
