    The patience required is amazing but I can envision a larger size in a garden with Sweet peas growing in the spindles. What a compliment to the original creator!

    You did a great job. I don`t have all these elektrical tools you are using and so my wheels are looking a little bit easier. But the main thing is FUN in doing this.

    I loved your video. I have a wagon wheel that was part of a planter, unfortunally the planter box rotted away. If my husband was alive he would had made a new box. I revarnished it and want to stand it up behind my big rosebush out in the front yard. How do I support it so it doesn't fall over in the winds? And so no one can walk off with it. The wheel is in good shape and I measured it to be 37" across. I love it.

    Looks nice. Except-
    - the felloes that make the rim (usually 2 spokes each) had grain that followed the rim. Either make a lot of rings and select, or (as I do) clamp strips together and then turn. You can get ~ four sets from a single clamped circle.
    -spokes were not circular, especially at the nave (hub).
    - it looks like your spokes are axial (nave mortices and felloes in the same plane). There was a gap between these planes- often substantial.

    Great workmanship, getting ready to make some for a canon. What type of index plate do you use when drilling the spoke holes?

    • @fromthewoodpile8248
      @fromthewoodpile8248  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Kenny, and have fun with the canon, that should be a great project. I have an 24 hole indexer built into my Vicmarc Lathe. I've seen home made indexers on you tube that can do the job if a lathe does come with an indexer

    • @fromthewoodpile8248

      thanks for watching, sorry, don't have the wheel any longer, it was given away as a gift, the wheel was scaled, if you can find a 46" wagon wheel picture or dwg on the internet you should be able to scale the hub.

    Also, where on earth did you find a drill attachment for the tool rest? I've looked around with no luck. Thanks!

    • @fromthewoodpile8248
      @fromthewoodpile8248  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Kenny, the drill attachment is from Oneway Tools, I did a short review of the Oneway Drill Wizard, here's a link to my video and following that is a link to the Oneway Website for their drill wizard. Let me know how you make out with your project.

    Not bad but not authentic. The spokes would never be round on a wheel destined for the wagon it was supposedly made for. You have 3 spokes to a fellow when there are only ever two. No dish.
