To be honest, none of the Emu shows were ever shown in Canada. I mainly know Rod n Emu from the Hudson Brothers show in the 70's. Main reason I am enjoying these is the songs and the talents of Joe2You Greco and Carole Lee Scott.
It's barely mentioned, let alone explained, to be honest! Occasionally Grotbags says something along the lines of "With his power and mine, I could control all the brats in the world" - but really it's just any old excuse for a fight between goodies and baddies.
You're very welcome! I'm glad these shows are finding a new audience. :-) Your dad's got a great memory - in fact even better than you think, because if he remembers a morning show, that's not EMU-TV. It's likely the *super* rare Rod And Emu's Saturday Specials, which went out on the BBC in 1983. They only made six episodes, and no-one seems to have a copy of them. At least I haven't come across any. They're like gold dust!
I came across a handful of episodes and clips when I was given a box of my (and my sister's) old VHS tapes from the cupboard under my parents' stairs. I uploaded them, adding an appeal for more recordings, and it all sort of snowballed from there. A lot is down to the generosity of others in lending me their tapes - and their patience, because the project has become a lot bigger than even I hoped! It seems like the shows are being enjoyed, though. :-)
I just noticed that all the kids are wearing a 'pink windmill' badge on their tops - which they are not wearing for any other episode this series!! I ponder if it's because the weather is too cold for them to be wearing the Emu T-shirts but they still wanted the kids to be emu branded?! & Why did they only do it for this episode? It also means that this episode's outside pre-filmed bits must have been filmed separately from the rest. (Or otherwise ALL the other episode's they'd be wearing the badges too.) There was no technology back then to print your own vinyl to iron onto t-shirts so they must just be stuck on stickers of some sort - because the clothes they are wearing as the same as the previous episode.
ohh - I just realised they are suddenly NOT wearing the emu badges on the 'all take a bow' line up! & there are a few in T-shirts... maybe that bit Was filmed in the earlier block. And Catrina & Hugh in their 'Row / Hoe' bits are in T-shirts. Those are the only outdoors bits in that episode! Very curious. I bet an exec high up in the production noticed they were all not branded but outdoors and in colder weather, and wanted something quickly so they just slapped on the stickers
These are great observations - I never noticed all this. I'm going to take a wild guess, based on nothing at all: the I Can Do Anything... outside bits were the first thing in the whole series to be shot. The Kids are wearing the badges with the intention to wear them throughout, but there's a problem and they keep falling off or something, so they ditch them after this one routine. They don't wear them again for the rest of the series, until they come to the episode with this song and then they have to wear them in the studio for continuity purposes. How's that?
Somebody please explain to me how Grotbags got away with hitting Croc in every episode (You wouldn't show that in a children's show now!), but people complained about Spit the Dog who didn't actually spit on people at all?
On roller skates from 2:59. You raise a good point, though - I'm not sure she's there in the Pink Windmill segments. (Unless you mean Sarah Stone, who's not in this series at all.)

Memory lane jesus. I remember watching this show.
As an American who has just started watching a couple of episodes, could someone tell me Grotbag's obsession with Emu?

These kids singing they can do anything and guess what: they really can!
Brilliant... Thank's for this.
One of my all-time faves, too. Happier days. :-)
Ah yes the one and only exercise episode

You're very welcome, and a round of applause for Louise, too!
No worries. Brings the memories flooding back, doesn't it? :-)

How's that?
I remember watching it very good but the style off the fashion then to now
I’m new here and I love this I asked my mom if she ever seen this and she said no but I love it
Welcome aboard - glad you're enjoying the Pink Windmill vids!
They got around it by making the comic-style stars ever larger, partially obscuring every hit. TV censorship is such a silly business...
Who do you think would win grottbags or worzel gummidge
+Sonny Erwin Well, nothing ever goes right for Grotbags, so I can't imagine her winning anything without it all going horribly wrong!
In the words of Harry Hill, there's only one way to find out...FIIIIIIGHT!
These are great episodes!! I wonder how you manage to get these?
Somebody please explain to me how Grotbags got away with hitting Croc in every episode (You wouldn't show that in a children's show now!), but people complained about Spit the Dog who didn't actually spit on people at all?
is this the last episode of season 4?
I think so, but no-one seems to be 100% certain of the order series 3 and 4 were broadcast.
no there were other showa
Where is Kate in Physical
Well spotted - she's missing from the outdoor sections, but you can see her right at the end of the song as they enter the Pink Windmill.
Under the IMDb page for this episode it list “Zara Kattan” as one of the pink windmill kids. Which one are they?
18:16 she's next to emma whitlock
Adam thanks
hey where's sarah?

Couldn’t see Kate in the musical number....
You're right - she's missing from the outdoor scenes, but then magically appears as soon as they cut back to the Pink Windmill (extreme right 4:23).
@@VideotapeFTW yeah. That’s what I thought was odd..
