- In 2017 A38 Vibes recorded the live concert footage of this song called The Past is a Grotesque Animal performed by Of Montreal . Watch the full concert here: • Of Montreal Live 2017 ...
Since it's foundation, A38 Ship hosted performances of underground legends and also mainstream - aka pop-rock, indie and electronic - superstars; in many cases, for the first time in Hungary. Acts like M83, Crystal Castles, Warpaint and Zola Jesus hit the famous stage on the Danube, and after 10pm, DJ-s like Ben Klock, DJ Marky and Blawan stood behind the decks to take the night to the next level. A38 Vibes collects the most memorable moments of the ship's own concert-footage archive, from The Boxer Rebellion's hymnic indie rock anthems to the funky moves of !!!'s Nic Offer. I got an Amazon Fresh ad right as the song went nuclear around 8:38 and I’ve never wanted to dismantle capitalism more than this moment.
yeah no the ads in this video drive me fucking nuts lmao
one of the most powerful live performances ive seen from any artists, i wish i was there
hands down. so fucking energetic
St. Exquisite was great at 9:30 Club years ago
A day doesnt go by without me thinking of this song
That keyboard deserves a raise.
I don't know man, I think that keyboard is tall enough 😂
Jojo is amazing!
I tried doing that on my keyboard during a live show and everyone just laughed
You say that because he's playing just chords? I prefer a million times people playing than background music
crowd is criminally under performing to this amazing performance
What do you expect them to be doing stabbing each other
They are enamored by the force of the song
They’re hipsters that didn’t grow up on Kevin’s genius
It's like we weren't meant for this world , but I wouldn't really like to meet someone who was
Still not
shit was crazy for sure thought they were gonna start levitating towards the end
my thoughts exactly!!
I'm pretty sure that was in fact levitation.
that was the best comment ive ever seen, man. Ty so much
I downloaded “Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?” back in December 2007. I’d moved from Holland to Ottawa 4 months prior as a myopic rising sophomore and had no preparation for the ensuing six months of winter. My best friend left school for rehab, I was the sole day student who wasn’t from the city, and the border students had their own circles. I moved as a ghost from group to group, and downloaded gigs of music off Oink before it was shut down by Interpol in October 2007. This song made me feel minor grief at 15: today, as a 29 year old who’s loved and lost so many, i keeled over. Kevin Barnes is a Magi who came here to work some amazing spells
Thanks Adam
Oh, you...
Damn I thought Interpol were cool...
Respect man. As an Ottawan I would have loved to hang!
Kevin Barnes' the most underrated poet of his generation.
Things could be different but they are not
I said that to my Ex
This is my favorite song ever created. Thank you, Kevin et al
My first time hearing it went on for about eight hours, fucking amazing song.
Saw them at The House of blues in dallas 10 years ago. Their showmanship and stage presence is unrivaled. Of Montreal is a rare band in the fact that their live performances surpass the studio recordings.
I saw them at Lollapalooza once, at Pitchfork I think twice, and then headlining one night at… I want to say the Logan Square Auditorium, but it may’ve been the Aragon Ballroom… during the stretch of the ‘00s when they were touring furiously, so all in the span of 30 short months, and within the era when Kevin Barnes was making giant papier-mâché heads for his band, and bringing up 10 or 15 random people to wear them too, plus dragging this unruly crate of costumes onstage for everyone to change in and out of throughout the set - and it was all glorious!!! The first time I saw them, I had no idea what to think, but by the time they wrapped up I was cheering with glee! Sheer genius energy, every time.
Tripp, I was at this show! It was great!
They are the last surviving sounds of the 2000s that I still fascinate about and feel connected to
are you saying the 2000s are over?
There's soooo much stuff out there that it sounds to me like you're not looking hard enough
@@Semiotichazey name a few
@@argmax11 It really depends what you're into. It's not like I can name several groups like OM because they've always been unique.
nah bro this band, specifically this song, really struct a cross-generational nerve, i don't think it will be forgotten any time soon
This song needed and deserved this recorded live performance.
One of the highest achievements of the human spirit.
between the editing and THOSE KEYS i nearly stroked out. how anyone in that audience is still standing is beyond!
I fell in love with the first cute girl that I met that could appreciate Kevin Barnes

I pissed all over Kevin Barnes
I fell in love with my girlfriend’s new best friend in freshman year in high school. The things is that I didn’t go to their school. I was home schooled. I showed up when school was out to pick up my girl. While I was waiting for her I was feeling really uncomfortable. I was shy as fuck and to be there amongst the masses was killing me. Well, while I was waiting for Mari a girl came up to me and said her friend had seen me and really liked me and wanted me to go to a party that night. I was as stand up guy and said I had a girlfriend and that was that. This made me so happy though. I felt like a complete outsider and my anxiety was like daggers in my spine. The fact some unknown girl had an interest in me meant the world. Well, about 3 months later I was waiting in front of my house for my girlfriend to show up with her ride to pick me up and she had her new best friend with her. The moment I saw her friend I was in rapture. I don’t know how not to sound cheap or rude about it but I’ll just let it rip. She was so perfectly symmetrical and thick. 5’4 with huge beautiful eyes and huge beautiful tits. I was dumbstruck by her. It turns out she was the one who sent her friend over to ask me to the party and she recognized me and thought I might have seen her and she was toast. I never knew it was her until 5 years later when after my girlfriend left me. We got together and have been together now for 33 years. I think the muses were working overtime for us.
What was his name?
George bataille
I'm having a hard time thinking if i've ever even seen a live performance with this much raw emotion to it
Watch some Fiona Apple performances ;)
That's really not so rare but yeah they sure put on a great show
Cuz you haven't.
Who puts an ad in the middle of a song intro? Grammarly can go bugger itself.
that keyboard needed a cigarette after that
something about this song makes me feel so accepting of all the shit that i previously only ever felt terrible about
the mythologizing... the underground wires... it makes it feel like it all meant something even if it didn't seem like it at the time
It did, brother.
Jojo is too much for that keyboard. Look at him goooooooo~
Lyrics are like the demon voice in my head. In love with this man.
This performance kicked so much ass.
the best recording of this song imo
only the voice is kinda screamed not bad at all but not perfect
His voice is the best part imo
@@j0y310 It's meant to be exactly that way.
What a great performance.
This makes me wonderrrr.... Why, I haven't seen them live?!
poor choices
I saw the back in 2005 a few times and they were great, but man I missed out on this song for sure.
But you know, no matter where we are
, we're always touching by underground wires.
Kevin Barnes is the embodiment of a "Rock Starr", yet- JoJo brought the house down w/ this encore. Props to the live director as well.
Omg the keyboardist
I've lost count how many times I've seen them but my favorite was a bar in Columbus ohio. So up close and personal so surreal
Got a chance to see them live in Gainesville, FL. That was over a year ago and it’s still the best show I’ve ever been
This song freaking slaps man!!!!
Amen sister
Justin Trudeau on the drums is killing it
“fuck this keyboard in particular”
One of the best performances I've ever seen. Simply amazing. The professional work made by this group in this show is awesome. Live this experience in this place with the powerful of live sound should be wonderful.
Great job!
That keyboard solo is just, fucking awesome!
I fell in love with the first cute girl that I met who could appreciate George Bataille
I will do it too.
Bad move
Hi
First time I've ever heard of these guys, first song I've ever heard and first video. FUCK.

It's so embarrassing to need someone like I do you
How can I explain, I need you here and not here too
How can I explain, I need you here and not here too
I'm flunking out, I'm flunking out, I'm gone, I'm just gone
But at least I author my own disaster
At least I author my own disaster
Performance breakdown and I don't want to hear it
I'm just not available
Things could be different but they're not
Things could be different but they're not
The mousy girl screams, "Violence! Violence!"
The mousy girl screams, "Violence! Violence!"
She gets hysterical because they're both so mean
And it's my favorite scene
But the cruelty's so predictable
It makes you sad on the stage
Though our love project has so much potential
But it's like we weren't made for this world
(Though I wouldn't really want to meet someone who was)
Do I have to scream in your face?
I've been dodging lamps and vegetables
Throw it all in my face, I don't care
Let's just have some fun
Let's tear this shit apart
Let's tear the fucking house apart
Let's tear our fucking bodies apart
But let's just have some fun
Somehow you've red-rovered the gestapo circling my heart
And nothing can defeat you
No death, no ugly world
You've lived so brightly
You've altered everything
I find myself searching for old selves
While speeding forward through the plate glass of maturing cells
I've played the unraveler, the parhelion
But even apocalypse is fleeting
There's no death, no ugly world
Sometimes I wonder if you're mythologizing me like I do you
Mythologizing me like I do you
We want our film to be beautiful, not realistic
Perceive me in the radiance of terror dreams
And you can betray me
You can, you can betray me
But teach me something wonderful
Crown my head, crowd my head
With your lilting effects
Project your fears on to me, I need to view them
See, there's nothing to them
I promise you, there's nothing to them
I'm so touched by your goodness
You make me feel so criminal
How do you keep it together?
I'm all, all unraveled
But you know, no matter where we are
We're always touching by underground wires
I've explored you with the detachment of an analyst
But most nights we've raided the same kingdoms
And none of our secrets are physical
None of our secrets are physical
None of our secrets are physical now
I LOVE them. One of the best shows i stood on high heels for.
Somehow you've red-rovered
The gestapo circling my heart
I love how it seems the crowd isn't that into it until the chaos of the keyboard solo ensues then you just have to dance because you don't know what else to do. Seemed like it was the opener too lol
Encore

Incredible song in so many ways. And that it made me read George Bataille is a big Plus. Seeya around at Swedish festivals 😮
I saw you in 2007 when you were promoting this album
what a crowd! envy them
how could you stand completely still during this? those people in the back need help
I can vouch that if you go to one of their concerts you eventually get tired of dancing! I don't know where kevin barnes gets the energy 😂
They didn't know they were attending a punk rock show.
The emotion in this song can kind of hit you and leave you depleted
Because some people aren't children and standing soaking it all in is completely legitimate so be quiet 🙄
Lol, this is such a trip my love.
I just lost my mind listening to this. I went crazier than the crowd only difference is I am alone in my room.
