Howdy , I don't know if you still check in on your videos here or not I sent an email the other day requesting the plans for your stitch and pony just trying to confirm if you received it or not, Thanks
Excellent, excellent, excellent. I wanted to make my own stitching pony and watched a lot of videos and read a lot of tutorials intending to blend together the best ideas from all, but I ended up pretty much following your method exactly! Love your design. I'm having trouble getting my leather to stick and follow the curves of the jaws of the pony. I'm using 4 oz leather, and have rolled it and massaged it to get it as supple as I can. I was rewatching your video and it sort of looks like your leather is slightly darker when you glue it on. Should the leather be slightly moist at that point (sounds odd, but I'm grasping at straws here). Or is my leather too heavy? Any tips? The bit where your awl breaks is a hilariously dramatic moment. Can't plan that kind of drama! :)
+Ted Hobgood Glad you enjoyed the video! I believe the leather I used was 2oz, but it was slightly moistened with warm water. Also, if you use contact cement, be sure you coat both the pony and the leather, follow directions on drying time before you attach the leather to the clamp. And use clamps and if you have foam , that too. The foam will contour and if you use wood-foam-pony with leather, you can clamp all that together till it drys. Email me if this is confusing. I can mock up a picture of what I mean
+chriserony 1.5" at the absolute max... more like .75".... the wood will flex beyond the .75 if you REALLY need to, but I can't see needing to stitch through that much leather. You don't want to end up having a gap so wide that you need to clamp down too much. true, the wood will flex, but you don't want the recoil to compete with the clamping pressure. mine is about 0.75" (maybe a tad less) look at it this way. if you stack up three layers of .25" thick leather you are at .75" - and that is pretty darn thick. for reference, sheath leather is usually 7-8 ounce, which is approximately 1/8"... three layers is only 3/8" - that's just under 1/2" I hope that helps. if not, email me and I'll do my best to help. good luck! ATB ~Michael
+Primal Edge Thank you for responding! I think I'll take your advice and trim my middle-piece thinner. I was starting to think about the pressure it would put on the nails/screws on the bottom as well. I'll see how .75in works out.

O acabamento da sua peça foi muito bom, só não consegui ver com foi a base que você fixou o pony.
The wingnut on the bolt that closes the jaws will catch the loop of thread. This gets very annoying. Need to come up with a better way to close the jaws that doesn't create an obstruction when working with longer lengths of thread.
+Jesse Alexander yeah, you are SO right!!! I found that I almost never use it too. I keep it barely taught and just use a quick-clamp at the top, closer to my work. I prefer the flexibility of being able to adjust where my clamping pressure is, too. thanks for watching, and your feedback! I think it's time to update this little build! be well, ATB -Michael
I was wondering about the same thing. What about a leaf type spring laid along the inside leg. Another option might be a pivot close to the end and with a bolt though the back end rigged to apply pressure outwards from inside pushing the jaws above together?
+Jesse Alexander 10 months later and I think I have an idea to fix that issue, without just sticking a spring clamp on it. I'll have an update on my channel soon
Instead of the annoying music you should have done narration describing what you were doing. Step by step instruction is preferable for what you are doing. I would have given a thumbs up instead of a thumbs down.
There is no dimensions given on the video. How is a person to figure out what to cut and what kind of lumber to use as well as the dimensions for the pieces of leather. These are important factors whenever you build anything
+Charlie Sullivan build to your own needs and dimensions. just by watching can get a close approximation of dimensions. tool building is not an exact science, contrary to popular belief. did the guy who built the first stitching pony have dimensions and a tutorial video?? gee lol.
+Charlie Sullivan How tall are you, are you the same height as primal you could be 7ft or 5ft whichever you are your comfortable working height is sure to be different so what purpose would it suit telling you how tall to make it. As Nate says build your own to suit dude and as Eric states if you cant figure it out from such a clear well put together video you probably wont need one anyway. either way if you get it sorted have fun its a great hobby with the bonus of sending your kids off to school with a satchel just like you had cant beat that kind of embarrassment...
Another lying clickbait title...where are the plans...in your head? This is a crafting video, try talking and giving dimensions or other important info so we can build one instead of that music, this is not a music video!
Thanks for watching!! if you want to see more leathercraft videos, check out my playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLWQgfdEjhALwcBu_G9LiFjuDVUpKyoPcq.html
What I really like is that there are no boring scenes or details. Just the essence of all.

Very nice, going to make me one. I subscribed to your channel! Thanks for sharing!
nice work
+Jose Ortiz Thanks, I'm loading a materials list on the website, tonight.
Very nice
Nature Calls thank you! hope all is well!
don't know why you couldn't put a spring in between the two upright pieces over the bolt, then when you back off the tension it will open by itself.
Howdy ,
I don't know if you still check in on your videos here or not I sent an email the other day requesting the plans for your stitch and pony just trying to confirm if you received it or not,
Thanks
I did, I got a few, sending them out this weekend
@@PrimalEdge ,

Love your work! would you consider making plans available?
+Jeffrey Justus I just saw this! yes, I'm actually redesigning the pony, a new video with plans is coming! so sorry for the delayed response!!!!

Awesome job, but how does it stay standing while you are stitching if the entire thing is a vertical vice grip, essentially?
Jmpaul26 The two parts sticking out from the left and right side of the bottom of it goes underneath your legs when stitching,
Would love to get your plans for this. How do we get them?
email me, my email is in the description.
Damn it!
will I have to buy all those tools for making may quick and easy stitching Pony???
not really, no. you can do it all by hand, it would just take a bit more time. instead of a big sander, you could use a rasp and a sanding block
An awl making video will be next.
+snipper1ie there's on my channel now, thanks for watching!
How much space should you allow for between the two clamp-handles? (I'm thinking the wood might bend overtime, so 1 1/2 inch?)

What kind of glue did you use for the leather covering? Thanks!
It was contact cement. I don't recall the brand tho, sorry.
+Primal Edge begins with an M any help.
How can I get the plans?
email me at primaledgeandleatherworks@gmail.com
I’ll send them over. free, no charge or sign ups or anything
What kind of music is this, buddy? No origin, I could not find anything with this reference. Good job, I await response on the song or band ....
here is the link to the FB page, all other links to music and stuff are there: facebook.com/nooriginband/
Love the music as well as the FINE craftsmanship! Who's the music please? Thanks Dude!
Thank you! That's my friends band, No Origin
Great, I'll look for their stuff!
+Brad K No Origin he is linked in the video description - thanks!

If you can't figure it out close enough to make it work, chances are you shouldn't be working with leather anyway.

Why criticize Charlie? The title says "with plans" so he was looking for plans. Titles that promise and don't deliver are click-bait
