I love lock history, and I'm a big fan of Schuyler Towne, he has some excellent video's out there. Really nice book, and you are right we don't have enough of them.
**#**#LOCKNOOB** PLEASE HIGHLIGHT THIS COMMENT##** Schuyler Towne is an absolute legend. It would be great if you could do a small treatise on some of his work
I found myself looking at this book in the same way I looked at the toy aisle in the grocery store as a kid. I think I might be a lock nerd. Thank you for showcasing this!
WOW! That was SUPER COOL!!! I'm not a metal worker, but now that gave me an idea to attempt to build a wooden lock box, with a hand carved key, inspired by something you showed here! I would LOVE to have a copy of this!
What a chance.... i just ordered the other look book from artisanideas (locks and keys throuout the history) and wanted to buy this one as well. I will buy this one later though :) But just on the same day theres a video from you on youtube ^^
This looks really amazing. Is it available in VHS? 🤣🤣 Just kidding, Books fill a lot of my wall space in 3 rooms of my house. I think this is a "must have". Great review, thanks!
Interesting book. I need to add this to my list of things to get. I’m waiting on your review of Sparrows new, redesigned Black Flag dimple lock picks. I’ve been waiting on their release. So now I’m waiting on your review to decide if I should get them. I’ve been using the Chinese “Honest” dimple picks and find them usable but not enjoyable. My wallet can’t be forced open enough for the Multipick dimple pick set. So I’ve got my hopes on Sparrows.
This is great to hear about. Thanks for the review. I'll look into getting that book. I think there must be another angle for lock and key obsessives in terms of art and literature. There must be so many references to keys and locks in paintings, literature and poetry. One film that is very, very interesting when it comes to locks is Escape From Pretoria. The escapees made so many keys out of wood and used them to escape that prison.

Kind of makes you look at the Four sided key from The Fifth Element film in a whole different light. ....Now THAT would be a cool lock.
Really cool! Thanks for sharing, going to add this to my collections 😊
The book review is very much appreciated. I'm likely to order it.
What a fascinating book. I could sit for ages just reading this page after page.
What a great review and look through.
🙂👍🏻

Cool book! Although I probably won’t be getting it when I have locks I need to buy ;)
Anyone know of any good reference books on the history of Safes. I've looked without much luck.

Lock Noob, please review* the film Escape From Pretoria.
* just in terms of keys & locks.
Lovely, fascinating book but 50-60 bucks is too steep for me.
