A deep look into the the throwing action of the 2022 PDC world champion and current world number one.
Peter "snakebite" Wright has won 2 would titles, the world matchplay and much more, this video shows why.
My channel is exclusive to darts only content. I create my content as I simply love to play darts and want to help other dart players improve with my own channel.
All my video's are based on how to play darts as well as advise on equipment and general darts setup with the aim to guide any new players in their darting journey as well as provide more experienced or even professional dart players with dart content to help improve.
I throw around an 80 average myself with my left hand due to in injury and dartitis in my right arm.
I may on occasion use footage from the Professional darts corporation (the P.D.C) as well as The British Darts organisation (The B.D.O). These are used under fair use legislation and all credit should be given the rightful creators.
New sound equipment made a big difference. Keep working on it Dan boy.
I think he has the smoothest and most each dart specific throw. Meaning, he doesn’t rely on rhythm at all. I think that’s why he’s been insanely consistent.
Players who rely on rhythm are very vulnerable to things that influence said rhythm. Just look at how poor the B-game of rhythm players like Michael Smith can be at worst. Once it's gone, it's really gone.
this aged well 😂
Great analysis as always. I've been guilty of trying to overcomplicate things bust since I've stripped my throw down I've improved steadily.
You have what other dart channels don't and that's the ability to analyse throws and have a real insight to throwing techniques. This channel will be the biggest at some point stick at it great content
Great analysis 👍 I would love to see a throw analysis of Michael Smith and a video comparing the two different techniques of those who set and aim the dart like Peter Vs Michael's technique. Keep up the great work 🎯
Good idea. 👍
Brilliant to see you doing so well buddy only feels like yesterday you started, well done bud
Good analysis.
Despite it looking so simple, he put a lot of work into finding and perfecting HIS throw.
When he was young, he used to copy Eric Bristow's style. From there he changed just about everything. His stance, the position of his middle finger, spreading out the ring finger and pinky, the head movement while pulling the dart back, the follow through, relying on rhythm, and most noticeable, the (lack of) tension in his hand and movement in his hand while he pulls the dart back.
He is one of the best, when it comes to stepping to the side to find another corridor and keeping locked on the target.
Absolute legend.
Really good analysis, been looking for something like this for ages as i love analysing other players throws, thanks for posting
Really liked this one, your getting better all the time.
This is the best darts channel on youtube by far. Great content mate!
Wow, thanks!
Absolutely my fav dart player of all time. I throw very similar to him. I work on popping my elbow up as I release. It just works for me. Very similar grip as well. Three fingers instead of four. Again, works for me.
Thnx for the video!🤘🏼
It has arrived! Great analysis 👏🏻
Great video, this is the throw I try to mimic the most, seems simple and effective. would love to see more analysis videos of the big names, great job!
When he hits a 180 it’s the most satisfying thing ever
Great video and straight to the point !!!!
interesting tip and graphic re: straight at forward leg and then leaning at the hip. Always thought it was better to have a straight line from leg to chest but does feel like it could be more stable
Was watching this and I had a dart, so I was holding it, going thru the motions and the dart slipped out and hit a window and broke it.
Twit. 😆🤣😀😂😄😅😁
I'm posting this for laughs.
He is so smooth and consistent I though you reversed the footage when he picked his last dart at 1:02
Very glad he lessened the head turn he used to have
Really great analysis. Wright has such a simple throw, he’s really achieved being very minimalistic in all of his movements. For all the people out there who feel pausing between throws is a negative, look no further than Wright. Sure, everyone is different and has to do what’s best for them, but this would work for most amateurs if they tried it long enough.
Great vid mate! Could you please do jelle Klaasen next?
I'll start saving some shots and do it when I get enough :)
@@Straightdarts Cheers mate!
Peter was an is a fantastic player and a great guy too. I hope he soon overcomes his high and low form curve and come back to his former stable strength. 🎯🙂
Thanks for the video and explaining of his way of throwing darts..👍👍
Great analysis, thank you.
Did you watch his first game in television between 1992-1993 Peters throwing action was completely different then now
Yeah, he has definitely worked hard on his game. 😀
@@Straightdarts I am looking forward to your new video about Michael Smith throwing action
Hm this was 30 years ago.
@@motektomek its on youtube, the BDO channel if I remember correctly.
I agree. His grip with three fingers on the barrel and point besides the thumb seemed to resemble Eric Bristow's. Nice to see how it evolved over time into something simpler.
Great video brother. As always 👌 keep going mate love to watch your content.
We play 301 double to start, after six darts I left myself unintentionally ended up with 170 and took it out , a 9 darter on 301 double to start, my claim to fame at my local 😤
Fantastic analysis Daniel. I’ve been holding the dart like this for a couple of weeks. Originally my fingers were more forward and the middle finger on the point. I was finding when I pushed the dart away I struggled to release the dart correctly. Always a work in progress and this video will definitely help. His upper body position is fantastic also considering his foot is flat against the oche. Great video 👍🏻🎯
Thank you! :)
Love it , thank you . So much better to understand with your comments . What’s your thoughts if not having the forearm upright .Especially like Searle ?
It's always important to have the elbow at least slightly tucked in and if your learning or trying to improve keeping the arm up right and as straight as possible like MGV is so much easier. You can play with with a slight tilt on the forearm if your still pushing the dart down the line you aiming at but if you pull it low or realese to earley your more likely to go in the 5 or 1 that if its straight and in line with the T20.
Stay in the center and keep the arm up straight then work from there. 😀
Can you do one of the great John Part please? His throw with the opposite eye dominance makes it look like his arm cant be straight when he throws, though I'm sure it probably is 😂
Such a smooth rhythmic action he has though
Sure I'll stray collection shots and put it on my todo list. :)
@@Straightdarts Thanks!
nice video.. great job
How tall is Snakebite? How would a 1.9M guy adjust to throw this way?
He is 1.76m tall. :) you could copy the throw the same but maybe try a slightly lower elbow if you struggle.
@@Straightdarts Thanks for the reply. Love the videos. It's so fun to try to incorporate elements of the throws of the masters. I've only been playing a couple years and my strictly intuitive process has resulted in a throw that's 'a little bit of this and a little bit of that'...but improving steadily!
howei tsai has the smoothest dart in flight ive ever seen, amazing!
Nice video mate maybe Devon Peterson’s next 😜
Does he pull the dart back under his eye or more to the (w)right?🤔
It's kind on under his and and very slightly down the side of his face, but he dosnt turn the dart.
How many sets do he use lol great video
Enviable throw to say the least
Could you do a Michael smith one great video
Yes, iv had loads of requests for him so he will be next. 😀
Daniel i've seen you mention footwear. do you have a pair of shoes just for darts? i just wear my tennis shoes that are comfy
Yes, I learnt that off listening to Taylor, Wright, and Bobby George. It's very helpful to always wear the same shose. It keeps the height and comfort and also always you to remember what part of you shoe toes the oche. I use the shose in this link and have done for years. They may be ugly, but they work, and I can stand for hours in them. Feels like a trainer. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mens-Wide-Fit-Walking-Memory-Foam-Light-Weight-Smart-Formal-Casual-Shoes-Size-/144958703963?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p4429486.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
Great question i Heard about that
I throw like this but I bring the dart back too my shoulder so my elbow drops and I don't no what too do
Try and tuck the elbow in as you pick the dart up a bit more and make sure your standing side on enough. It's probably your alignment to the dartboard.
Sweet!
Good day I need some help why my darts keep going left ?
Are they landing to the right or flying to the right?
I‘ve started playing darts 2 months ago and its been going pretty well (already 2 180s). However, almost every time I start playing, I feel like a different throwing style would work better for me and therefore I am not very consistent. Is it normal that I havent found my personal throwing style yet?
Definitely, it can take a good 2yrs to fully develop the throw that's right for you and every now and then it will still need to be changed.
Look at how many times Phil Tylor changed his throw, even after 25yrs as a pro he was still experimenting. 😀
Alright thx
Nice
I throw with my middle finger on it instead of my point finger is that bad
No, loads of pro place the middle finger on the barrel. :)
Is his throw slightly different than the rest of the player he doesn't flick his wrist more like taylors know what I mean ?
The wrist is still used. Both him and taylor do have some similarities.
If you look at how much the point goes upward on the draw back, it's very noticeable.
This causes the wrist to lock on the draw back for them to snap though at the point of release.
Wrist sometimes opts to throw flat like taylor but some times he dose add some flick when useing longer darts. This allows him to make the dart land in different ways and helps massively when using different equipment. :)
@@Straightdarts these pros must be flicking it up with there thumb ?
@@paullennon8586 no, it's only players who put a ginger on the point. The finger then either grips the point and lifts it or is placed just under the point and flicked up. It's a very different technique to get right but some players do it well. It's the only technique I cant copy.
I always hold the darts at the back and have a slight push down on the rear of the barrel on release like Lewis or Beaton. This had the same effect but I find it much easier. :)
@@Straightdarts your right I tried the flick with the thumb no chance
Gerwyn Price next, maybe?
Iv already done one for him :) check out my playlist ua-cam.com/play/PLjja4DM1uC6Yv0bNsW27uECoORyloA_4f.html
