Thanks for this ranking, Pete. Have only listened to the Blueprint album recently after hearing you mention the band on another show and enjoyed it so much that decided to wait on this episode to see the choices by you and other SoT commentators. Now on to some of the rest of their catalogue. Thanks again.
I remember falling into the Magna Carta rabbithole in the '90s. Bought almost anything from the label. It really brought me back to prog, after I had abandonded it in the late 70s. The Enchant box set is phenomenal if you can find it.
Ted Leonard’s singing on “What to Say” is one of the most stirring performances I’ve ever heard. Every time I hear it I imagine someone on American Idol bring the house down.
I've been waiting for this. Enchant is big favorite of mine. I discovered them when "Tug of War" came out and quickly scooped up all their albums. I went probably 6 months straight listening to nothing but Enchant. I would encourage anyone who's never heard them to check out their "Live At Last" album. My top 3 are "Break", "Juggling" and "Wounded", but I love their style and may have to give Saga another chance now. Thanks for giving this band attention.
Honestly Saga's a better band (well at least to me - I think they're the 2nd best prog band ever from Canada) but Enchant's no slouch. Agreed about their live album - to me just as good as any of their studio records (and that's saying something)
Love the ranking the album series. I'd like to see a ranking Metal Church episode. With the death of Mike Howe and a pending new release I feel the time is right. Thanks Pete keep the faith
A band to never release a bad album. The band was always so catchy, onto your heart lyrics & vocals, simply fantastic. My album order goes as this: 1. A Blueprint Of The World 2. Break 3. Juggling 9 Dropping 10 4. Time Lost 5. The Great Divide 6. Blink Of An Eye 7. Wounded 8. Tug Of War
Love Enchant. Fun fact that no one asks for. We used 'Ultimate Gift" from Blink Of An Eye as our wedding song. Be sure to also check out their Live at Last cd-dvd. Great representaion of Enchant.
I have only three of these, so thanks for the push to go deeper. Agree Enchant is difficult to describe, to me they are neo-prog but without the bombast and theatrical side of the genre. Some AOR elements like Kansas or Saga but also a sprinkling of heavier tones. Not so much extended solos. Very consistent. Similar path to UK band Jadis.
As a big fan of Enchant, they've been one of my favourite bands for many years and Ted Leonard is one of the best singers in prog. I got to see the band back in 2015 and they were fantastic, I've seen Ted twice with Spock's Beard and twice with Transatlantic. Super talented musician. It's really nice to see Enchant get some well deserved love. Thank you for another great show 1. A Blueprint Of The World 2. The Great Divide 3. Wounded 4. Time Lost 5. Blink Of An Eye 6. Juggling 9 Or Dropping 10 7. Tug Of War 8. Break
Great band with a real gift for melody and cool textures. I agree : the cream of the crop are Blueprint, Time Lost and Wounded. I also love their last album The Great Divide (very cool keyboards!). Mandatory band if you love RUSH 80's , MARILLION, KANSAS, SAGA and DREAM THEATER (their more melodic side).
Wounded is one of my absolute favorites. I bought it used in 2001 never having heard a note of music, though the Magna Carta Records label intrigued me. Been a fan since.
Thank you, Pete! I've been asking about this ranking for aa while so great to hear what you think about my favorite band's catalog. I love to see everyone else's ranking and comments. Music is a beautiful thing that affects us in diverse ways Here are my ranked albums. I wrote iTunes reviews for each many years ago as well. 1. The Great Divide 2. Juggling 9 Or Dropping 10 3. Blueprint of the World 4. Wounded 5. Break 6. Tug of War 7. Blink of an Eye 8. Time Lost
Pete asked us Enchant fans to rank our albums. Extremely tough for me as a huge fan, and the variations are minimal since I love them all, but stick a gun to my head: 8 - Divide 7 - Break 6 - Wounded 5 - Time 4 - Blink 3 - Juggling 2 - Tug 1 - Blueprint
first heard of this band when it was mentioned in a prog seat episode a wile back. really enjoyed the first couple albums but i will check out the rest soon but very cool underrated band
I love this band . Melodic powerful in the middle period. I like Ted Leonard's voice but the whole sound is spot on for me. All their albums are really great. However: 1. Tug of war 2. Juggling 9..... 3. Blueprint for the world 4. Blink of an eye 5. Time lost 6. Break 7. Wounded 8. The great divide It is nice that we can enjoy Leonard in Spock's Beard, or Thought Chamber, Pattern Seeking Animals are excellent, too.
Great band, underrated in my opinion. Agree about Ted Lenard's vocals, probably the strongest element of the band. My ranking: 8 - Break 7 - The Great Divide 6 - Wounded 5 - Time Lost 4 - Blink 3 - Tug of War 2 - Juggling 9 Or Dropping 10 1 - A Blueprint for the World
I always thought of them as Heavy NeoProg kinda like Magellan. I accidentally saw them live when they opened up for King's X in Sacramento, Ca unannounced. They were great! Glad I got to see them live!
I love all the Enchant albums, I think its a shame that they never gained greater success. I agree that the first three are the strongest, there are many killer tracks! I think I'll have a binge of all their albums!
My favorite albums in order from "Favorite #1 to Least Listened To #10": 1. Time Lost 2. Juggling 9 Dropping 10 3. Break 4. Tug Of War 5. Blink Of An Eye 6. A Blueprint Of The World 7. Wounded 8. The Great Divide
I pretty much feel the same way about Enchant as you do, Pete. I want to love them, but something keeps me from fully appreciating them. They have a ton of potential.
Hey Pete Glenn Hammond here love your knowledge of music. I like a variety of music as long ad it’s good. Ever thought about a show that about putting headphones on Sunday night in bed and checking out what you recommend. Doesn’t have to be psychedelic just stuff from from past to present might not have heard
Excellent band, I've got 10 releases including a live album & their collection. My ranking (lotsa ties - a sign of consistency): 1. Blink Of An Eye - all winners/no filler - probably one of the best albums of 2002 2. Blueprint Of The World, Juggling 9 Or Dropping 10 & The Great Divide - 9 very fine tracks each 3. Tug Of War - 7 winners 4. Break, Time Lost & Wounded - 6 great tracks each Others: I have to say that Live At Last is probably as good as Blink Of An Eye - maybe another tie if we were including live albums. Also good is their best of A Dream Imagined... (The Complete Collection 1993 - 2014), a nice intro to the band. Finally there's their take on Yes' "Changes" from Tales From Yesterday - A Tribute To Yes (with contributions from Steve Morse, Shadow Gallery, Magellan, Nick D'Virgilio, Mike Keneally, Kevin Gilbert & former members of Yes)
1. Blink of an Eye 2. Juggling 9 Or Dropping 10 3. Break 4. A Blueprint of the World (awful production hurts this) 5. Wounded 6. Tug of War (on the strength of incredible opener and closer - rest is boring) 7. Time Lost 8. The Great Divide (can't remember this one honestly)
I have the new Crown Lands CD on order. For some reason, Amazon only released it on Friday. Where did you get your copy from earlier than that? I have heard all the songs on it though and love over half of it. The rest is good, but a step down from the other songs. I will give Enchant a chance. I will check out your top-rated album first. I think you mentioned the debut in your list of 1993 albums last month. I don't know why on Amazon it is listed from 1995 unless it was re-released in a different form.
Not sure why Enchant's Blink Of An Eye isn't getting more love, to me one of the best releases of 2002🤷♂...I've also heard Crown Lands/Fearless but only once (Bandcamp) - my immediate reaction was the vocals were kinda "screamy" like the singer's reaching for notes that aren't quite there (even on slower numbers). Kinda early-Geddy. Haven't made up my mind whether I like it or not - a lot of the music's pretty good. Not really familiar with this band's prior material (looks like they have some EP's & maybe 3 other albums), I'll give some of that a listen too at some point. Bandcamp says they've: "always been a study in contrasts" - I think I hear that...They might turn out as one of those bands I'd probably like a lot with a different singer
I am totally confused. You said listen to the first four I mentioned and you rated them 8-1. Then said listen to the top 4, 1-4? then you said the best ones are the first ones I talked about. So listen to the lowest rated ones first 5-8? or listen to the highest rated ones 1-4? Huh?!
I agree with Pete about Enchant not finding their way, very much like Salem Hill. I love the song Seeds of Hate. Saw them at RosFest and had several conversations with Ted Leonard, really nice guy. Great diverse band.
Pete/ thank you very much. I will try and bang out your top 3️⃣ selections here in overcast NJ. / more homework / 👍💯
Thanks for the ranking.. I've never heard of them but will check em out

Thank you very much Pete for finally tackling Enchant's awesome catalog.
I'm enchanted with Enchant

Severely underrated band. Blueprint of the World is honestly my favorite debut album by anyone.
Blueprint is an excellent album.
Thank you, Pete 😊
Love the ranking the album series. I'd like to see a ranking Metal Church episode. With the death of Mike Howe and a pending new release I feel the time is right. Thanks Pete keep the faith
Don't forget that Ted Leonard is also lead singer of Pattern Seeking Animals with 3 albums to date.
The s/t & Only Passing Through are great, and Prehensile Tales is very good
Great band PSA.

Didn't get into Thought Chamber as much as those other bands. Don't care for their heavier stuff

Good to see this underrated band got some attention! I would place Blink of an eye a bit higher.

Well, seeing as I listen to music on headphones very rarely, don't think I'm the right guy for that one.
Enchant a great band the first 4 or 5 records are great
Some of the solos on the early albums always reminded me of Steve Rothery.
Some amazing artwork and some terrible
ones 😂

Reissued on Magna Carta in 95, but originally came out in 93. As for Crown Lands, it was officially released on Friday, arrived to me on Saturday.

I was hoping you would name another album as number 1 as Blueprint is the only enchant album I play because it’s that good.
Blueprint of the world is awesome. The one thing I don't like is the sound of the snare drum.
Pete, I'm very curious to hear your take on the new Metallica album! When is that review coming? 😊
Pete are you gonna review the new metallica album?
Lol.. Not worth doing
@@toneman8478 you think it’s that bad?
Yes.
@@seaoftranquilityprog awesome

Looks like they got the yard mowed.
Are they Christian rock band ?
Never heard of this band.
I agree with Pete about Enchant not finding their way, very much like Salem Hill.
