The Ramones “Bonzo Goes to Bitburg” arguably set the template 😁
Sick video dude. This gave me so much inspiration to achieve a much fuller sound with things I didn't even think about. Also dude, nice Hocus Pocus clip! Tubular!
Haha thanks Chris! Have fun experimenting!
Guitars, drums and bass. Did I get it right?
That's only if you're planning on getting really experimental.
Don’t forget vocals
and synth
And Tom delonge
almost its Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker
yes yes yes, the final layer of perfection sprinkled on top. 🙌
This is great information :)
More videos like this.
All the recording channels out there don’t deal with punk…..here’s your shot
Great tips!! Quick question -- what synth/preset is that? And any other go-tos? I've been searching for a handful of good synth sounds like that to use as reinforcements/backings for pop punk guitar riffs. Thank you for the vid!
Thanks! I think the one I was using there was from Ana2, but honestly when it comes to pop punk, the actual sounds aren't super important, as they're often only being used to augment a lead guitar, vocal, etc. So I'd just try to stick to more simplistic sounds, and go easy on the effects like reverb & delay. I often like looping a section, and then I'll solo out whatever I'm layering the sound with, so I can hear it within context. It's hard to judge sounds in isolation, because they all sound good, but certain synths can be harder to fit in a mix than others.
If you're looking for a good free option to get started with, I'd try Synth1. That really has all you need for creating layers to your tracks. Hope that helps!
Real rad, this is the content I like to see 🤘🏼
Thanks Alex!
Super helpful video man!! I never noticed that little organ lead in dammit until you pointed it out now I can't unhear it, btw what's a MAWN?
It's just the way Trey Parker always sings man, lol. Glad you liked the video!
This is really usefull, thank you!
Glad to hear it!
The best channel on youtube
Hey dude, since you’re into emo as well, check out the similarities between “Everyone Everywhere - I Feel Exhausted” and “Braid - Radish White Icicle”. Braids song came out 2 years before and it sounds like a good addition to the “ripped off” video if you plan on making another video. 👍
Thank you!
Really interesting that dude...I had no idea about the organ.
Thanks! It's surprising just how many pop punk songs use them in the mix.
@@SugarpillProd I've been listening out for them you can hear an organ ring out in a lot of blinks tunes
I've been trying to rack my Brian as to where finn came up with idea...the only bands I can think of which had an organ player are deep purple santana and the doors
@@danmillward7969 I don't think it's strictly a Jerry Finn idea to include an organ in a punk song. There's a load of organ parts all over early Ramones & Clash records - you don't really need an organ player, most bands just used session musicians for extra parts, like Roger Manning with Blink 182. Plus Dammit was on Dude Ranch, so that was actually before Finn was involved with the band. Though he definitely liked them a lot, I think almost every album he worked on has at least one song with a Hammond in it.
@@SugarpillProd good to know...doing some good work on this channel
I always think of Tigers Jaw when I think of organs in pop punk/emo
great job
So as I learned from plenty of your great vids the punk-rock orchestra lineup should have:
2-3 guitarists
2 bassists or more
1 keyboardist
1 organist
Drummers(?) not yet clear for me, maybe 2
Vocalists maybe 2
...
Brass section ?
beautiful
@sugarpillcovers Is this material included in your course on tracking guitar? I’m close to giving it a shot, been thinking about it a lot
The course is solely about tracking guitars, so it covers a bunch of different tracking techniques, and the how each style can be beneficial to the track you're working on.
The presentation is pretty similar to these types of videos, so if you enjoy this sort of thing, it may be something you'd want to look at purchasing.
Let me know if you have any questions about it!
2:50 your Graduation solo?
what's the song at 2:50
Palm muting, octaves, power chords.
Blink 182 - Rock Show, the Hammond organ in that is great
And how to use this on stage?
Hire an organ player?
@@SugarpillProd 😆
Violin, acoustic guitar & tambourine. Too easy
It only lets me subscribe once :(
