Try not to get to self conscious about the asymmetry. As a medical student I can say that soooo many cis-women have asymmetrical vaginas! It's actually super common in cis-women so don't feel like it's a feature that marks you as a transwoman and not a cis woman. I completely understand your critiquing though. I'm a transguy and I know sometimes we can be hyper critical since we haven't had the pleasure of being born into the correct bodies, so it can be easy to constantly critique yourself. Hope your recovery and transition is going well! :)
When I had surgery, I was over the moon post-operative wise, in the healing phase, because I couldn't believe that things just looked "normal" for me. But then the novelty wore off a little upon inspection (coz yes, I looked at all possible angles!) and I began to see "imperfection". I even looked into revision surgery. I had some minor interventions to minimise the perceived problem (non-invasive) and that really didn't do much. After a while I realised: my God, I'm seeing a problem where there isn't a significant one. I'm just glad to have gone through it and realise that it has made such a difference to how I feel about myself. This is *my* normal. And it's individual.
vekkstar yeah just recently i went almost a week without dilating and when i finally did see it again i was like, 'oh hey you look kinda normal.' i think we overlook how much close examination on a daily basis for months on end can do to our perceptions, so it is good to get a new perspective!
love trust your doc, I am 3 weeks post op my self and I went to Curtis Crane here in San Francisco and I am very pleased with his work, Keep your head up and don't worrie, things will be ok ^^
You are absolutely adorable, and I love how open you are about everything, I'm a straight male but I'm as open minded and accepting as it gets. I've watched a lot of your videos and wow, you've been through so much and seem like a beautiful person. please add me on facebook, Tyler Panda Conley and let's talk sometime! I would love to here some of your stories and here about your journey :D
My Vagina prolapsed 2 weeks after my grs, and I was left with just the vaginal opening after they had to cut it away from me. A year later I had to have a 2nd surgery on the urethra because it curved forward as it healed causing a stricture.
You have a nice way about you. Good personality which is most important in a relationship. You look really nice. I wonder how you are doing 6 years later.
Thank you for such a personal video! I love your final thoughts at the end. I agree, it really depends on how we put things in perspective.. Yet again, I too find it hard to let things die ... Anyhow: seems like you are all set for bikini season? :-D
Dannille good morning I have a secret crush on you for very long time since I swapped on UA-cam my name is dino please let me know if you want to go out with me and starring love fair
Hey Danielle, I would talk with some of Dr McGinns other patients. It may give you a better peace of mind if you do. PM me and I can give you a couple names and I am sure there are girls here that would share their own experience with her.
You should have offered a free tour to New Hope and back and recouped your expenses... there's probably some tourists that would have appreciated it... :-P
lol. and here's...the starbucks where i will meet you guys in around 45 minutes to an hour. if you're not here when i leave, you don't get a ride back to the airport. my time of possession of the rental was maybe 3.5 hours in total.
Congratulations on realizing your post-op perspective and moving on past the little things in life. Welcome to Spring and happier times. Best Wishes & Stay Safe
hi hunny .do u have a facebook timeline . xx im also transgender mtf in the uk . itll be nice to get hints and tips to .ive only just started going full time since last september .many thanks for your great vlogs to xx tazmin p
Wow, this was so good to hear from you! Some issues addressed, learned somethings, first hand experiences with the doctor made for an improvement for your treatment. You sound recharged! YAY! Best wishes as always. Sounds like you're on the right track. (YAY!)
I would just like to start by saying "Good for You" in becoming who you are! I have been watching your vids and other pre and post-op transsexual and transgender persons vids in an attempt to educate myself on the feelings and experiences of said persons. The reason behind this is I have a channel where I review games, anime, movies ect (stupid crap though I have been taking quizzes meant for women, Thats been fun). I have noticed a disturbing trend in a lot of these Anime, games and so on when it comes to dealing with transgender and transexual people and the fact that more often than not they tend to be very mean spirited about it. This bothers me! If it isn't O.K. to be hateful toward other groups then why is it O.K. to do so toward the Trans community? Due to this I am starting a new segment where I talk to some of my friends in the LGBT community about their thoughts and experiences with hatred and bigotry in the hopes to raise awareness. I just hope that if my friends talking about their experiences only helps one young person who is going through the same thing then it will have been worth it! I am a heterosexual male but that doesn't mean I have to be hateful. I dont get it! If you're secure in your masculinity then why would someone elses suxuality or gender identification bother you? The truth is it would not, less your bullshiting your self and have issues your not dealing with. I find that those who are the most insecure are the ones who hate the loudest. Anyway I just wanted to chime in here. thanks for making the videos so people who want to learn can! Thank you!
If you don't mind me asking what insurance company do you use because im in transition but my insurance does not really cover much so i have to pay most out of pocket right now.
I don't know why you're telling us all this. Not that I'm saying it's "wrong", I just don't understand why it is Americans like to "air their dirty laudatory" (i.e. Jerry Springer). I a few days ago got back from a tour of Asia. I felt I'd come back with a renewed sense of what to do to improve my life. But - No. I'm not asking for counseling, just what do I do if I can't see a way out of my "dead-end" life?
I don't understand your point - this isn't my "dirty laundry" so much as "an experience I've had" that I don't mind sharing. It's also an experience that is probably relevant for a large part of my trans audience. If someone cannot see a way out of their "dead-end" life - then they need to change how they're looking at it. That's the point of this video, that you shouldn't get trapped into a mindset, and the recovery process can do that to people.
It's not just about changing your thoughts, it's about changing them in a structured fashion. If you can identify the problem, then you can think of how to address it - and that's absolutely easier said than done (which is why professionals get paid to help you with that). But another way to think of it is like sports. Your coach comes up with a game plan, training plans, etc. The same thing happens at your job. So do you take a similar approach to your personal life and self-improvement?
Hey, thanks for sharing all these. I'm 13 weeks away and still making all my arrangements. I'm hoping I'm not annoying Dr. McGinn's to much. Were there any other parts of your experience with Dr. McGinn's office, that you would have like to go better, pre or post op.
She is a good surgeon and her bed side manner could use some adjusting and some of that is wanting to have your head stroked that you are doing well. Her patients tend to have more granulation tissue then others but the results are pretty good once you heal.
Did you consider taking a taxi instead of a van? (LOL) I really appreciate the honest assessment but do see that you are a tad emotionally vulnerable. We're lucky we are getting through life with the scars that we've endured. I heard that McGuinn will say that you'll be perfect and then backtracks and sort of lowers your expectations by restating the surgeries limitations. Yes, some of the results are based on the healing process but the shaping of the new organ is at the hands of the surgeon. She was trained by Marci Bowers and it seems that the best surgeons hail from Thailand. In my followings here on youtube, I've heard of less complications from surgeries performed there. Nothing scientific and no Pew or Marist polls to back it but just a keen observation.
I think she takes exception to "trained by" Bowers. Regardless, I'm not sure there's a lot of difference between the top 5 surgeons anyway. And I've heard countless Thai horror stories too.
I hope this doesn't sound too personal or awkward. You mentioned you "basically received free SRS." May I ask, How so? I am transitioning myself, and as I have thought about SRS the cost has always been a concern for me. Thank you.
My insurance is employer funded and covers top and bottom surgery (in addition to travel/lodging expenses). I still had the deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, as well as other non-reimbursable expenses - so I will end up paying something around 3-5k for this and insurance will cover the other ~20k
I watched your video and I'm glad to know your doing good with every thing but I have a question and even thought it might be imposable to answer at this time but I and going to ask any way -----some where down the roar will you be able to have children ---yes --or no
Tell the listening audience what will happen when you reach the ages of 50 & 60 does gravity take hold of your body and turn back into your natural will you need to re-surgery?
Hey Thanks for the response and I will never post any negative comments and sorry I did not get back until Weds 5/25/2016. Ok I have forgotten whom I posted can you clue me in on your name please, because I had directed the post for a certain person. I will be looking for your response. From a friend tyrone
I am coming up on 70 and almost 40 years post and I can assure you everything works and as good as it was in the first year after SRS--in fact better. It's the new mother nature taking over. (lyric for 60's song). No further downstairs surgeries needed.
lol for the rest of my life. 3x a day for 3 more months, then 1x a day for the next 6 months... once i hit one year post-op i should be able to drop down to 1-2 times per week. this of course, assumes no PIV sex.
Thank you for the heads up about the process of dilating! I had no idea it would take so long! My choice will be Dr. McGinn also! The area is close to my family who, unfortunately, are cisgendered and my children want no part of me becoming a woman! I do have several hurdles to leap....finances, BMI, and age! The part that's tough is my daughter....She has 2 boys, one a newborn, and to see them I have to show up as a man! That is if she lowers the drawbridge to her realm and I get invited! I do understand it would be tough to have my almost 6 year old grandson seeing me other than "pops"! Kids can be real mean at school! I too am trying to avoid that conflict! SO...... great job on your Vlogs! Keep up the great work! Lisa

don't worry about being asymmetrical--most women are down there :)

Hey Danielle, I would talk with some of Dr McGinns other patients. It may give you a better peace of mind if you do. PM me and I can give you a couple names and I am sure there are girls here that would share their own experience with her.
I've talked to some of her other patients before - that's why I chose her!
May I ask your age, you are a strong and beautiful woman

Congrats on feeling better and the kudos on things moving forward.
Looking good kid, hopefully all is well with your situation, damn brave driving a van while hurting to your appointment.

Life is good, make it better go girl you are an inspiration :)
mary-jane maine
Yes, she is an inspiration. Shame I haven't been able to use her advice. I'm sure it works 4 some people.
It's not just about changing your thoughts, it's about changing them in a structured fashion. If you can identify the problem, then you can think of how to address it - and that's absolutely easier said than done (which is why professionals get paid to help you with that).

Yeah she said her patients get granulation 80% of the time, so I fully expected that.

gkiltz0 haha yeah i just had my one year follow-up on Monday and am very pleased with the aesthetic
I love your strength
LOOL WTF IS THIS
I wish and so desperately want to have this surgery too and finally be a woman also
jhdawgfan it's possible to be a woman without surgery :)
I so desperately want to be a woman with the surgery. I want the surgery so bad.
Does it work
How much longer do you have to dialate?
lol for the rest of my life. 3x a day for 3 more months, then 1x a day for the next 6 months... once i hit one year post-op i should be able to drop down to 1-2 times per week.
