Fairy Bread is plain white sliced bread, fresh, not toasted, buttered and sprinkled with 100s and 1000s and cut into triangles. It’s very nostalgic for Aussies because it takes us back to when we were little kids and at friends’ birthday parties. There would be a table full of delicious party treats: Mini pies, mini sausage rolls, cocktail Frankfurts, big bowls of potato crisps, (if we had ice cream, I would eat it with the crisps - sweet and salty together 😋🇦🇺), cupcakes, home made toffees (in paper patty pans), stick-jaw toffees with hundreds and thousands embedded in the tops, bowls of lollies - mostly Allen’s - as well as Smarties, jelly beans, jelly babies, etc.
Geez, there's some tough (and rude) comments on here. Give 'em a break. I love the fact you are both trying all sorts of Aussie culture. Keep the great vlogs coming .
PaulJoyce What are you on about, they say they are going to test fairy bread, and then make something else! If they were doing it, why not just do it properly, it actually makes no sense. And then he declares that he doesn’t like it and asks for people to comment on wether they want them to make it the right way! I know fairy bread isn’t the most important thing but this just borders on stupidity.
The fairy bread that is on your thumbnail uses the right hundreds and thousands- they should have blue and green in them as well as the other colours- you guys bought the anaemic version 😂 also the comments section blowing up with Aussies fiercely defending this national treasure 😂😂😂 ❤ 🐨
Oh, guys, you right royally buggered this one up so much that I had to stop by just to read the comments 😂 Sorry to say Joe, but you're going to get roasted over this one 🤣🙊🤣
These were a better option to try it rather than wasting a full loaf of bread to the the fairy bread. + we thought people would of eaten these with them being sold in Woolies 🤷🏻♀️
Yeah, it's a kid's party treat. A cheap way to add another plate of party food. So most people that talk about it probably haven't touched it since they were like 10 years old. It's normally just straight white bread with butter, never toasted, I've not known anyone to toast it.
Bloody hell, some people are really coming for you over the fairy bread! It’s a children’s party food, that’s all. It’s not delicious or gourmet, it’s just fun and nostalgic. Don’t worry about it 🙂
The History of Fairy Bread is to be respected and regarded. When Australia gave up all sorts of things for the War and had to sacrifice for US, UK and the war effort, the whole nation went without so others could have. That included the children. So that is where the Women came up with Fairy Bread to Celebrate their Birthdays. They could not have Birthday Cake, so they made Fairy Bread so the children could have something fun, joyful and colourful in the time of the awful, horrible and terrible. And then it became a tradition to have it at children's parties. To remember why and what our ancestors went through, to remember the children of old and not forget. So when you go, does it matter, Yes it does. Our sacrifices matter and should be remembered and regarded. The women cared about their children. No its not right the technique, look at the waste.

Please do try it again guys, fresh white sliced bread (not hot cross buns or any type of sweet bun), a nice thin spread of butter and cover the bread with the sprinkles then cut into triangles. As a 60 odd year old I still enjoy a slice of fairy bread at the kids parties.

If you haven't already, try milo on ice cream and you can also put hundreds and thousands on ice cream as that is a pretty aussie thing to do. You are also supposed to use the cheapest white bread when you do this, usually the cheap buttercup bread or equivalent. Never heard of anyone toasting the bread or putting them on hot cross buns. As an Australian, I cannot understand some peoples fascination with fairy bread. I mean, it’s just buttered bread with sugar ffs. As for hundreds and thousands on a toasted hot cross bun … thats one waste of a bun.
@EatVentureVlog I'm 60, back in my day when kids birthday Party's were done at home you'd get fairy bread, small sausage rolls and party Pies. All as cheap as possible because our parents couldn't afford much more. I'm guessing whoever came up with fairy bread did it to jazz up the kids Birthday on the cheap. Kids love fairy bread, it must be the colours
I do think the sweet hot cross bun wasn't the best idea and have never tghought of toasting the bread .. I think fresh soft whote bread, butter and teh 100s and 1000s is the way to go .. we used to also have milo sandwiches (mostly when Mum and Dad were busy milking the cows 😀}
To be fair, Kody didnt toast hers so it was just white cross bun bread that wasn’t toasted or warm, with the butter and sprinkles, not far off the usual.
Maybe you created a fairy bread version for Adults 😉. As an adult I'm not a fairy bread fan, loved it as a kid. I thinks kids 7 yo and under it tastes better
Joe only toasted one side of his, I didn’t toast mine at all and had the butter and sprinkles so it was very similar to the usual fairy bread, and I really enjoyed it ❤️
Noooo! I opened the video hoping to watch someone make real fairy bread, just like my mother always did! 😭 Thinly sliced white bread, spread with real butter then covered with pretty sprinkles - cut into triangles then the crusts removed! Sacrelidge! 🧐
I am so sorry! To be fair, Kody didnt toast hers so it was just white cross bun bread that wasn’t toasted or warm, with the butter and sprinkles, not the way fairy bread usually is but the bread, butter and sprinkles go well together 🙌
Its not complicated.. Its not Fairy buns, fairy croissant and never fairy toast. Soft white bread, a spread of butter and 100s & 1000s- cut in triangles. simple, and grreat.
Don’t forget the SUNSCREEN! “Skin cancer doesn't discriminate. Anyone, whether you're a health advocate, public figure, sports star or celebrity, is at risk of developing skin cancers like melanoma. Australia has the highest yearly number of skin cancer diagnoses in the world, comprising 80% of new cancer cases in the country. Our homegrown stars are just as prone to developing cancerous lesions as any of us.”
I can't understand why anyone over the age of 6 eats fairy Bread lol. I mean, sure, it's a staple at young kids parties but surely that 's where it should stay. Still, if you insist on trying it, then choosing a Hot Cross Bun with a little flavour to start with can't be a bad idea. Also, choosing a great tasting butter works well, so 10/10 there, and you got the 100s/1000s sorted, so I think you got it as good as you could. Mind you, a little smear of Condensed Milk before the 100s/1000s just guilds the Lilly a little lol
@@EatVentureVlog Yeah, at least you have that box ticked now lol. Don't get me wrong, at 5 or 6 years old, Fairy Bread is like a little bit of magic going on in your mouth. Somewhat sadly, as you grow and develop some taste buds lol, the magic tends to dramatically fade into distant memories :(
Sorry guys not even close. Hot cross bun is a sweet dough to start with, yuk. Please try again using white sliced sandwich bread with heaps of butter & must be hundreds & thousands not sprinkles. Then cut off the crusts & cut on the diagonal to make a triangle, enjoy. Ignore the haters, you are not to know that Woollies would lie on their labels just to get sales.
You did that on purpose. EVERYONE knows you use wonder white bread, margarine or butter, hundreds and thousands and cut in Triangle 🔺️ with crusts cut off. Boo.😊
The comments on here about their attempt at fairy bread is bloody rude people. They know it's not the traditional way and have offered to do it right, so stop being aholes.
Nooooooo!! It’s fairy BREAD!! You can’t possibly achieve the right ratio of bread to hundreds & thousands with buns! You need UN-TOASTED white bread with butter & cover that in hundreds & thousands 😔😔

@EatVentureVlog What do you mean, “to be fair,” toasted or not, you don’t use a hot cross bun, or any bun. This may seem pedantic to you but fairy bread is so specific in the way it’s made including cutting the slice diagonally, and also in the historical reason for it existing in the first place.
To be fair, Kody didnt toast hers so it was just white cross bun bread that wasn’t toasted or warm, with the butter and sprinkles, not the way fairy bread usually is but the bread, butter and sprinkles go well together 🙌
Nope. Way too sweet for my tastes. And Hot Cross Buns this many months before Easter? Stop encouraging the out of season sales of these products! If not, then where are the Halloween treats? I mean it's only a few months away too.
It was unusual to see these in the supermarket, it wasn’t an Easter section which makes it more strange I guess. These were a good option though. Kody enjoyed and didn’t have hers toasted, so it was very similar to what the usual fairy bread would be.

@@Jespa_007 it's fun for little kids
The Buns looked a bit hard & dense anyway.
More for the kiddies isn’t it! We had to try it though. X
Kids love fairy bread, it must be the colours
oh dear noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😂😂😂

@@Ninchi_TrueCrime That’s no how you make porridge, I mean fairy bread😂😂
Also, hot cross buns? It’s fekkin January!
Woolies for ya!
White sliced bread only please .. then sprinkles
Thank you for letting us know 🙏
Furry bread 😂
You know it 😂😂
Joe youve changed you usually pronounce it furry bread 😂😂,
Shhhh😂😂
Soft white bead not rolls, buns are not fairy bread. You murdered it 🤣
We’ll re try for sure 😆
use aussie or ,,kiwi ,,butter the best try it
Thank you for letting us know x
Ooohh What's the name of the Place where You got the Pizza from? Looks so Yummy 😋😋🍕🍕
La Fabbrica in the sunshine plaza.
@@EatVentureVlog Thank You so much 😍😍
Joe nailed the technique but what the hell were you doing with the butter there at the start hahahaha
Still waiting on the hot milo reaction!
- mug
- ¾ milk
- 2 or 3 table spoons milo ~ mix
- microwave 1 - 2 mins
- re-stir
- drink ~ enjoy
Trying to make it soft, it went in the fridge accidentally 😂
I do think the sweet hot cross bun wasn't the best idea and have never tghought of toasting the bread .. I think fresh soft whote bread, butter and teh 100s and 1000s is the way to go .. we used to also have milo sandwiches (mostly when Mum and Dad were busy milking the cows 😀}
To be fair, Kody didnt toast hers so it was just white cross bun bread that wasn’t toasted or warm, with the butter and sprinkles, not far off the usual.
Next try a Milo sandwich. 😎
Yessssss! 🤩
Maybe you created a fairy bread version for Adults 😉. As an adult I'm not a fairy bread fan, loved it as a kid. I thinks kids 7 yo and under it tastes better
I have never liked it .
Hmm maybe! It was tasty😋
where is the sliced bread ??? Nope, you need to re do this upload with the correct ingredients.
@@EatVentureVlog It's ok, at least you actually tried! 🤗
Love Calzone
Plenty of sweet toppings on bread are great, I just never liked the crunch of this one. Blue cheese, apple and walnuts on toast is great.
Sounds great!
Im going to sound un-Australian here, but i am not a fan of fairy bread
It’s more for the kiddies isn’t it!
@EatVentureVlog yeah you're right. But even as a child, I did not like fairy bread
Calzone is Italian, so it’s “cal-zone-ay”.
Thank you for letting us know.
Its not complicated.. Its not Fairy buns, fairy croissant and never fairy toast. Soft white bread, a spread of butter and 100s & 1000s- cut in triangles. simple, and grreat.
Thanks for the tip!
I think your going to dreamworld and get some great rides videos
Good guess… keep your eyes peeled 👀

Don’t forget the SUNSCREEN! “Skin cancer doesn't discriminate. Anyone, whether you're a health advocate, public figure, sports star or celebrity, is at risk of developing skin cancers like melanoma.
Australia has the highest yearly number of skin cancer diagnoses in the world, comprising 80% of new cancer cases in the country. Our homegrown stars are just as prone to developing cancerous lesions as any of us.”
Thank you Jeni, we appreciate your advice 🙏
I can't understand why anyone over the age of 6 eats fairy Bread lol. I mean, sure, it's a staple at young kids parties but surely that 's where it should stay. Still, if you insist on trying it, then choosing a Hot Cross Bun with a little flavour to start with can't be a bad idea. Also, choosing a great tasting butter works well, so 10/10 there, and you got the 100s/1000s sorted, so I think you got it as good as you could. Mind you, a little smear of Condensed Milk before the 100s/1000s just guilds the Lilly a little lol
We’ve heard so much about it since being in Australia, we had to give it a go! Defo one for the kiddies though
Someone must be buying these in Woolies for them to be selling I guess 🤷🏻♀️
You did that on purpose. EVERYONE knows you use wonder white bread, margarine or butter, hundreds and thousands and cut in Triangle 🔺️ with crusts cut off. Boo.😊
Thanks for the tips!
try subway footlong fairy bread sub
That sounds ace hahaha
The comments on here about their attempt at fairy bread is bloody rude people. They know it's not the traditional way and have offered to do it right, so stop being aholes.
Thank you for your kind words ❤️
Joe, freeze the Tim Tams before you eat them.

Nooooooo!!
It’s fairy BREAD!! You can’t possibly achieve the right ratio of bread to hundreds & thousands with buns! You need UN-TOASTED white bread with butter & cover that in hundreds & thousands 😔😔
Joe only toasted one side of his, I didn’t toast mine at all and had the butter and sprinkles so it was very similar to the usual fairy bread, and I really enjoyed it ❤️
@ 💜💜💜
That’s NOT fairy bread!!!! LOL
This was us buying what was advertised as a type of fairy bread in Woolies. We thought this would be a great wag to try without wasting a whole loaf of bread. WTF, are you people doing? If you're going to try fairy bread, then try fairy bread. Don't mock us with some mutated concoction you've made up.
If you don't like their daily vlogs Don't watch. Too easy.
@gregoryparnell2775 settle down Greg. It's one criticism. They did something nonsensical and stupid, and I let them know it. Hot Cross Buns, one toasted, for fairy bread? At least try the original first, then play around with if they wish.
Please don’t take this personally.

Please stop trying to make things your own way,all you need is a slice of normally buttered white bread with sprinkles on it, how hard is that

So you think it's ok to use a hot cross bun to make a "Chip Butty" instead of white bread also?
If that’s what you’d like to eat, of course! Whatever your preference ❤️
I have never been a fan of fairy bread.
It’s more for the kids isn’t it…
stop analyzing , and stop modifying , lol . fairy bread is any sliced bread with butter or marg , and sprinkles . then yu can say yu had it . not some cocked up british version , lol . ' remember ' im english born . lol

NOOO! DONT Toast it!! NOOO! Just Btead Not buns or other things - too sweet that way.
To be fair, Kody didnt toast hers so it was just white cross bun bread that wasn’t toasted or warm, with the butter and sprinkles, not far off the usual.
Why would you say you are testing fairy bread and then make something else? If you wanted to try it just do it properly, it makes no sense. Then at the end you asked for people to comment on wether they wanted you to make it correctly! Fairy bread is not the most important thing in the world but the lack of logical thought in that video borders on stupidity.
To be fair, Kody didnt toast hers so it was just white cross bun bread that wasn’t toasted or warm, with the butter and sprinkles, not the way fairy bread usually is but the bread, butter and sprinkles go well together 🙌
@EatVentureVlog
What do you mean, “to be fair,” toasted or not, you don’t use a hot cross bun, or any bun. This may seem pedantic to you but fairy bread is so specific in the way it’s made including cutting the slice diagonally, and also in the historical reason for it existing in the first place.
Nah! That's not how Australians make traditional Fairy Bread.
To be fair, Kody didnt toast hers so it was just white cross bun bread that wasn’t toasted or warm, with the butter and sprinkles, not the way fairy bread usually is but the bread, butter and sprinkles go well together 🙌
That doesnt come close to fairy bread
Its worse than putting Mackas fries in a croissant and calling it a chip butty!
If that’s what you like I guess it doesn’t matter 🤷🏻♀️
Sorry, that’s a fail
It's disgusting and was only designed for children. Not suitable for adults.
Yes we can agree it’s better for the kiddies 😂
You do realise that fairy bread is for 5 year olds
Yes of course, we had to try it though! 😂
Most adults don’t like it….
I can understand why 😂
Hot cross buns?????
Boring old white bread, that’s it!

We saw these and thought they would be a great way to give it a try! I didn’t want to waste a full loaf of bread to try it.
I'll forgive you ... Maybe a very very messy mango tasting video would lift the Aussies in dismay back to cheery about the minging looking fairy bun 🍞💗🦘🐨🤣👋... Look up different ways to cut mangoes , different varieties etc .. just a thought
I'm enjoying it all anyway 🐨💕
You’ve started a war now 😂
I know right 😂
You don’t get it because you are a Britt I have tried uk food and it was bad only Aussie love fairy bread.
You have to use real butter not the petro chemical butters.
Which is the best one to use?
What’s with the sour look when you tried fairy bread. It’s amazing your not a Aussie that explains a lot
Maybe it’s just because it’s unusual of us, not something we’ve grown up on ❤️
If you knew how to make it, white bread with butter and 100's & 1000's, why oh why do it different?
Is it your British wisdom out smarting Aussies?
I think they have started WW111 & I thought DJT would be the one to do it ,Not a couple of Poms armed with Fairy Buns.
