Music video by Volbeat performing Lonesome Rider. (C) 2014 VOLBEAT, under exclusive license to Vertigo/Capitol, a division of Universal Music GmbH
Volbeat is the only band to mix sadness, romance, blues, country and rock in their songs. What an underrated band for sure!
100%
Well they're a modern rockabilly band, so yes, rock country and blues are standard fare.
With a hint of pop for sure
@@N0sf3r4tuR1s3n No. No they're not. They did make a couple psychobilly/rockabilly songs and that's about it. Delta Bombers are an example of a modern rockabilly band.
And they are even more sick live
2024, still rocking
Yep🤘
Always will ❤🤘
Same here!!
Attention seeker.
For sure. This is my metallica
The implementation of rockabilly into their music is ingenious.
Michael Poulsen is by far the best Rock singer i have heard in the last 2 decades. His live performance is completely amazing. Only been listening to Volbeat for about 5 yrs, the more I listen the better they sound. At 56 yrs old I thought I'd heard the best vocalists yet, but Mike is superior to them all. Keep Rockin guys. Cheers, Ontario, Canada.
I agree from British Columbia, how am I just finding them????
Reminds me of Brad Delp of Boston in his range.
The way Volbeat has always got that nostalgic touch. Unbelievable.
I love this song. Romantic and sad. The lyrics are full of visuals. I just found this song and can't stop playing it on repeat.
only Volbeat could mix old school country / blues with todays metal. With his fantastic metal voice its just perfection.
Volbeat is indeed my favorite band these days. greatness
Oh and that womans Voice is fucking fantastic. holy
I don't get it, why don't they do more songs like this one? This song is really perfect!
+Amadej Tusek they have quite a few songs that mix old school sound with rock. Sad Mans Tongue, Doc Holliday to name a few
I think the word you're missing at the end is SHIT!
I didn't see the last part of the comment and thought you meant volbeat was shit then I saw the rest and I totally agree I was about to burn you at the stake.
Yep, I'm also a bit disappointed they didn't make more of songs like this particular one.
My parents introduced me to them 😂 my dad and I always sing this together when it plays. Never gets old🤞🏻
Dude it makes my whole day to read that! I feel like would have done the same with my dad if he would have discovered them before me 😌
This is the most wholesome comment i've seen. I wish you and your parents a long and happy life. Made my day as well.
I get looking out my back door vibes from the guitar part and I love it lol 0:55
❤❤❤
t3😅😮😅😅😅249😊😮😢43st😢
She has a perfect voice for this type of song, hope to hear her do more like this!
@@DarkLabProductions Avenged Sevenfold does it
I wouldn't kick. Her outta the passenger seat.
Hard to believe their not from Texas! That mix of classic American West, and modern metal = greatness!
I love how the Reaper actually has emotion in this video. Its almost like a double win for him because he gets to do his job by taking her life, but he also gets to see the two lovers together in the afterlife. Awesome.
The Reaper has no emotion, he only does his job, (too well). What I like is the fact that it depicts him trying to outrun Death, so that he can see his wife again
DooM Marine u
Jesper Holm Andersen I wat?
@@rockstarfoxy654 can't frankly outrun "death" when your wife is helping escort your dead ass to a watery grave... O_o
I'm pretty sure that she is dead and the rider isn't, at least that's how I saw somewhere they described it
54 years old and I learn of your existence by chance. I'm a fan, congratulations to the team, you are awesome. i love this song too. thanks guys !
Class of 86!!!!!!
57 and rocking on
Yeah man
This song always reminds me of my mom. Thank you.
59🤘🎶🎶🎶💯
Damn fucking love this band, Michael opens his mouth and starts singing and i'm hooked! He has one of the greatest voices ever :-)
Agreed
He doesn't have the best range. Not the best technique. But great charisma.
@koroshiya5758 have you heard some of his other songs? He has great range.Technique can be argued, but definitely a wide range
I can strongly believe this song is subliminally made to stuck in your heart and fulfil your soul.
I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO IT
Same
I have never heard of these guys before, but I keep hearing this on my local radio station so I thought I would check out the video. I am not sure why, but the song just kind of sticks with you.
Chris J true
Iijt
Chris J
ahaha same here, have been hearing it for the past week and decided to check it out. very cool song =)
Chris J It's so true, i actually hated this song for awhile, it does really grow on you ;-)
+Chris J from? i heard of them before, pretty famous here around sweden, but i recently heard this song on bandit rock. got rather surpised that i thought i heard him in volbeat so i had to check it up :P seems i got a new lovley song on my list
I can’t believe I just found this song
Volbeat rocks

Thought this might be useful. Found this online with Michael explaining what the song is about.
“This is a country-rockabilly song. When we started rehearsing it, I thought that that it needs something else - a female voice. I had ideas for the lyric where it would have been cool to have a female singer. So I emailed Sarah Blackwood, who is a great Canadian rockabilly singer. I was a fan of her old band, The Creepshow, and her current band Walk Off The Earth are great too. The lyric is about a cowboy who goes to war, and when he finally comes home, he cannot find his wife. The house is empty. What he doesn’t know is that he’s dead - he thinks he’s survived but he’s dead. And the thing is, his wife has passed while he was at war too. So she makes a deal with The Reaper to find her husband and bring him over to the other side…”
If that's what they were after, the visual narrative lacks a bit. Not really my issue, though. Where are the cowboys!? Thanks for posting that, BTW.
W Michael Houk He dies at war as a soldier, not a cowboy
Wow it's a song
SARAH BLACKWOOD IS FROM WALK OFF THE EARTH?!
@@Nazuiko Yes.
Volbeat......what more to say. They are so underrated, need to be played on the radio so much more.
*The Glory Days Of The Wild West*

,,Mom! This is Sarah Blackwood from Walk Off The Earth!‘‘
😂❤️❤️❤️
Love u Sarah and many greetings from germany🥺❤️
His voice touches my ❤
It's dark yet romantic... It's beautiful and perfect
i dont see how anyone could dislike volbeat
Those people are called 'Bieberfans'
strawberrycookie
that's spelled with a g, not an n
Devon Webb oh shiiit
I'm dying. Srsly. xD
Simple, having your favorite radio playing it over and over again everyday.
Just that song, nothing else from Volbeat so after a couple of weeks of "country-meets-metallica" I can surely say I dislike Volbeat
Rita, where have you gone
I've been missing you for far too long
I feel so blue, haven't you heard
I am the lonesome rider, hear the lonesome rider's call home
Reaper, where have you gone
See the lonesome rider carry on
His pain's so blue, haven't you heard
He is the lonesome rider, it's the lonesome rider's call home
Just feel all the love I'm giving you
I'm back from the war, I've been missing you
Where have you gone my baby blue
I'm here all alone, I've been bleeding too
Reaper please take him home
He's been wandering for far too long
He feels so blue, haven't you heard
He is the lonesome rider it's the lonesome rider's call home
Just feel all the love I'm giving you
I'm back from the war, I've been missing you
Where have you gone my baby blue
I'm here all alone, I've been bleeding too
The dark reaper led the cowboy ahead into his final sunset
The dawn soon to come a cold wind will blow
He's on his way home
My love never will we be apart
And we'll feel the sadness peeling from our fate
The day has now come where we belong together again
Farewell, so long
Rita I'm not alone
I can see you waiting in the doorway of our little cabin home
I feel so new, haven't you heard
I was the lonesome rider, and the lonesome rider is home
Just feel all the love I'm giving you
I'm back from the war, I've been missing you
Where have you gone my baby blue
I'm here all alone, I've been bleeding too
I'm taking it, you like this song?
lol...yep, love volbeat!!
thank you now i can make a cover

Every now and then but have an inexplicable urge to come back and listen the this song. It NEVER disappoints!!
Why did I only just now find this song?! This is an amazing fusion of musical styles!
All of Volbeat track are a fusion of dif. Styles( Elvis, Johnny cash,Metallica and many more)
I don't even have heartbreak, but I immediately get this feeling with this song. It's so touching, pure perfection
That chorus is epic, goddamn, love that tune
Once all this covid rubbish is over and we can have concerts again I need to see volbeat live again. It's made me think with everything going on and what a crazy world we are living in at the moment, that we only live once and I'm 40 this year so I'm it getting any younger, I need to start going to more music concerts and doing things that make me happy in life.
Holy crap! Love this song. Just heard it for the first time tonight. Its a new generation of old-school western folksy stuff. Reminds me of Marty Robbins. The story involved is so bad ass. Need more of this kinda music! Cant stop listening to it!
I work on Bråvalla last weekend and heard Volbeat live and i´m so happy. Because it´s was so good. I thought they were a very hard band but they play rocknroll. And they are best.Nice to find a band who is so good when you are 53 years
This music literally gave me goosebumps
You guys are criminally underrated! This Song ROCKS!!!
the combination of the vocalist make me feel in the cowboy mood...
***** yeahh i know..this band from danish..
Sharifuddin Ramdan from denmark. the ohter makes not that much sence
anders madsbjerg it doesn't matter..i still like this songs...peace 1 love
***** .... what is your surprise about?? they are very good making music....
chill everyone..music is universal..just listen n go on..))))
Agree! Best band of all time in my opinion. And I'm 56.
saw this group live at the METALLICA world tour in baltimore and they are absolutely awesome
Usually when I find a new band/artist I only like one song they produce, but I could listen to Volbeats albums forever
The best mix of a Danish band and a Canadian singer
This song reminds me of the movie "The Others"😞😓
But I 💘 it!!!!!!!!
Sarah Blackwood sounds cool on this song!
did anyone else cry at this😢😢😢😭😭😭
Just recently started listening to Volbeat. Awesome band. Volbeat has so many great songs with a lot of diversity. Very talented. Rock on guys!
Love Volbeat! His voice is amazing and I can't get enough of their music!
Have to love songs that tell a real story. That’s why I love Volbeat, Avenged Sevenfold and Five Finger Death Punch.
Where have u gone my baby blue!!!! Luv this little ditty!!!!!!!!
OMG I just discovered this band last week & I'm just amazed at how incredible they are!!!!!!!
Their melodies & lyrical content are OUTSTANDING & so are their videos!!!!!!!
power of danes
and the best of all, they are from my country DENMARK!
god rock fra et godt land
15 november they are playing in Amsterdam 😁 begin of June a saw them at fortarock so double party this year in the Netherlands 😎
Same here bud.
My favorite memory of this song was one time I played it at a bar off the jukebox and some other guy at the other end of the bar started screaming: “YES!!! Who played this???!!” And I answered with a smile, me! And he gave me the hardest highfive I ever got lmao.
That Really happened?
@@brandonalcazarproductions5151 you will be surprized of how many people love Volbeat, specially in a bar, plus their songs are not constantly roaring guitars and such, for an example, if you play For evigt, here in Denmark, you will bet people will try not to sing along, their songs are good for when you wanna be cozy and drink with people.
@@richardtschiewe6737 i mean if it go along with my truck's theme then best song ive heard
you cant even pick a favourite volbeat song it's all so good its like impossible
Ummm...words...mouth...right out of. Sorry, my mind can't catch up to the awesomeness I just witnessed. You hit the nail on the head is what I was trying to say.
Broken Man and the Dawn is my favorite. But nonetheless, they don't have any bad ones. ;)
It's this one.
Heaven Nor Hell. Done. But it's a thin margin over all the other masterpieces tied for 2nd
Where have you gone, my baby blue, I'm here all alone, I've been bleeding too. Gotta love that line
This has got to be the oddest combination of musical styles ever done and no band but Volbeat would even think of doing something like this! Freaking awesome song and one of my favorites from Volbeat!
Volbeat has now crept into my top 10 bands with this and the Devil's Bleeding Crown
I really love this song!! one of my favorites.
and also, I only wanna be with you is a good one.
+orchidflower72 Lola Montez!
+Edge Rated R Superstar wow another awesome song. lola montez. thanks for the share.

After seeing a black horse at the costume store, my 4year old now wants to be the lonesome rider for Halloween 💗 His absolute fav. Band
One of the greatest bands of all time.
I haven't heard this song since I was 5 and still know the words
True fan to Volbeat since 2007, this is still my altime fav band.
Almost Every single song gives me the chills.
His voice is... fucking fantastic!
I have every album in original, and I am gonna buy everything they ever produce!
Absolutely loved celebrating my actual 50th birthday in San Antonio with my wife while watching Volbeat live, with THE HU opening for them.felt like old school as it was supposed to be at sunken gardens and was moved to some old warehouse looking venue.
Gotta give the man credit for being able to make his voice go from high to low than back to high
He is simply just a good singer ,with a fantastic voice
if you like that stuff search for "diamons - steam powered giraffe" its insane.
Volbeat, in particular Michael Poulsen demonstrate that a bands music is richer when key members/writers have a breadth of influences (eg Country, Elvis, Metal, Danish).
no way!! my two favorite bands make the best song EVER!! I listen to this All the time!
How did I miss this one? Sarah Blackwood is from Walk of The Earth, And I've been following them for years!
Awesome to bring Sarah into the mix she’s an amazing talent
Knight rider where have you gone? The 80’s are missing you....
Volbeat really stumbled upon a unique sound ....both heavy and melodic 🤘🎵🎶🎵
I have 3,000 pre 84 vinyl's. This is my first modern vinyl , Christmas gift from my Son Alan Travis. LP Vinyl Grooving, for Life...
I love this damn song!!!
Check out the mirror and the ripper.. If you haven't heard it yet. Volbeat has been on my playlist nonstop since I heard dead but rising.
ianakacarlos Oh I have their entire catalog of albums, and they are becoming one of my favorite bands! So yeah, I've heard it! ; P

Kære drenge jeg lytter tit til jeres sange og får den bedste gåsehud I er vidunderlige bliv endelig ved med at synge knus Marianne 👍
Love Volbeat, this song lead me to Walk Of The Earth. Michael and Sarah's voices compliment each others so well.
Who says all of Volbeat's songs sound the same?? This is definitely unlike many of their other songs.
That one song you can't get enough of. This is it for me. 🔥🔥🔥
Wish to see them in Montreal soon !!!
Whos Rockin this 2019??? Hands?
I'm rocking this in 2022
My favorite song!!! Reminds me of my Husband, who is always there are me!! No matter what happens in our lives!!
for me, not are me.
I love how the male singer rounds his voice on last note. Sends shivers up and down.
Volbeat is the most rocking band in the world!
Awesome story telling and love both of their voices together.
That track really kick some ass. Great lyrics and rhythm too. Keep them coming
Amazing job as expected from one of the best rock bands today, VOLBEAT! As well as Sarah Blackwood she sang very nicely!
That Volbeat isn’t one of the top bands in the US is quite disheartening. They have impeccable musical sensibilities and have the most amazing ability to jump between, and yet bring together the music of the American south (blues, early country and bluegrass), the American Southwest(tex-mex), then blend it with hard rock and heavy metal.
There’s nobody like Volbeat. They bring it like no other band i’ve heard.
If they ever play Pittsburgh I’ll be there.
God I soooooo love this song 😜😜😜😜😜😜😜
Denmark doesn't have many successful rock bands. But i am proud of being danish when have this band it is so amazing! have a nice day guys and girls!
Im wandering in a snowstorm somewhere in Lithuania and just heard it for the first time... We need better radio in chicago.
+Vlad Scheiskopf Lithuania is cool.
i can’t believe it took me so long to realise the story of the music video😩
Sameee😞 this I a childhood song for me one of my fav
This song is amazing listen to this song twice and twice again and again 🎤🎧🎹🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎸🎸🎸🎸
Reminds me of that story, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce.
Every single time this comes on in the car I can't help but sing really loudly and start drum beating along on my steering wheel.
Volbeat - forever playing at my gym. not that im complaining, infact it has made me a big fan of volbeat's music!
Wow that's such a cool song! I don't know how many times I've listened already.
The coins in the hand were a nice touch. Can't forget to pay the ferryman.
Only took a few years to find one of childhood songs
Rockabilly is ALIVE
Still a better love story than Twilight and Fifty shades of grey.
indeed it is!

James Barney Right!?
Although I love Volbeat, this damn song has been randomly stuck in my head for days... (insert annoyed face and crazy giggle here)
I heard this song several weeks ago on a quiz show. I was hooked in seconds and couldn't let go since.
I love Vol-beat!!!
