If I were to blame one individual who destroyed the anc, I will single out gwede mantashe, he was and still the chief engineer in decision making and doesn't have a plan to deal with the consequences later. The ANC held on to the Clown in the Hat hoping to secure the Zulu vote, unbothered by our war-zone like murder rate, always putting the ANC above the people.
The Zulus are a amongst the most dof people on the planet. Heads as hard as rock. Very little can penetrate it. They are tribal. Period. I would know. My brother voted for Zuma (alcohol fried his brain a long time ago). They see him as some sort of saviour to the Zulu people for as someone without formal education, getting a seat at the table with the white man at the highest level, is quite an achievement.
Desperate people will believe anything. People are looking for dignity and Zuma therefore appears as a messiah to give them that hope. No amount of pointing out that it was Zuma who started our decline will make a difference.
People are too scared to trust the white man. Everyone points to Israel and the DA's pro-West stance as proof that they cannot be trusted. We know too well Israel's role in our dehumanization. It's flashed to us on our mobile screens daily.
I voted DA on all my ballots. For the most part, I knew what was coming. Half my family is Zulu.
All we need now is for the ANC to decide to change and realign to the founding principles of their organization, with their goal to finally deliver a better life for all. The only way to do that is through a coalition with a party of national unity. Our best bet is for an ANC DA coalition.
Hopefully we get from this the balance of the extremes on both sides and thus the best outcomes for our country. Putting SA first. The challenge of course would be checking of the ego's. The collapse of the ANC was as predictable as the demise of the former Nationalist Party. The one big differrence is that the Nationalist Party reigned for about 50 years .. compared to the ANC's 30. I give Ramaphosa another 6 months before he is "recalled".
