We were very lucky we decided to come out and check! Came at 11 pm and ended up sleeping in our shed (video coming soon) to make sure it was fixed first thing. 😮‍💨 glad that’s over !

How do I know if my house is placed in the correct spot? Is there something on the plan that would show me where exactly it is supposed to be?

Hey Mark, typically your home is placed in line with the other homes on the street. that’s usually building code. That’s how I knew where to set back the house. Originally when they staked it, it was in the wrong spot almost 15 feet off from where it needed to be. If you are building a house on a plot of land with no neighbors, it’s usually your choice and is outlined on the front of the plan. Sometimes require that they know placement on your plan before applying for permit. The reason is, to account for drainage.

What kind of company stakes that? Who do I have to hire once I have the plan?

@@sarahhope4794 you need to hire a construction engineering company to come out and stake out the house. They will take some measurements and 🤞 place the house in the correct spot. As I’m sure you saw in the video, we didn’t have such luck and had to have it moved right before excavation began. It’s usually about $500.
