Learning English in a formal class could cost an arm and leg. Hence, even if it is difficult to self-study, I have to grin and bear it. Hopefully I would learn pretty fast, so I can finally bite the bullet and pursue master's studies in an English-speaking country. Until then, this plan remains up in the air. (Thanks Max for helping me recall these idioms. You rock! On my feedback about the lesson's level of difficulty, I found it easy. But, then, English is one of my country's official languages, and for that reason, I am not, perhaps, your primary target audience. Whatever, I think your lessons are valuable to anyone wishing to work on improving his/her English. Hence, I keep watching you.)
Hey Max. I have taken my English to the next level by watching your video lessons. You provide Crystal clear explanations. Your videos are always on fleek. Thank you so much. Keep up the great job.
Hi Max! Thank you, the level was just right. I got 18/20. Funny idioms, all those idioms were familiar to me but I just couldn't remember "bite the bullet" and "pull one's leg". It was definitely a good review!
Hi, Max! Thank you so much! Honestly, I would say that this video lesson isn't for my level yet, but I can't help watching it, for it so adorably interesting... yes, you can make us be focused on learning. That's great!
1.Blessing in disguise (You think you're unlucky, but who would've thought good thing's hiding in there... in my backyard... Really?) 2. Bite a bullet (Try to bite it... not so tasty, huh?) (Metal) 3. To burn the bridges (Driving with a firewall behind you... Certainly can't come back later, the only bridge is gone, now only with a boat...) 4. Doing smt by the skin of the teeth (Did smt like scratching only a little bit, a thin layer of a... well.. tooth) 5. To cost an arm and a leg (You have to pay with your arm to get it... and with your leg also, that's how expensive it is! And also your livers...) 6. To give the benefit of the doubt (It'd be a benefit for me if you believe me I'm not an imposter, even though everyone saw that I vented) 7. To grin and bear it (Put a smile on your face and go for something we pay you $6 an hour straight) 8. Sweet tooth (Eating so many candies so your tooth got covered in a sweet layer and also became sweet... try this now) 9. Hit the nail on the head (Yes, you're right, you're right, just please, stop hitting the nail on my head, maniac!) 10. Judging a book by its cover (Would you buy a Pride and Prejudice book with the illustration I drew? I was 3 back then... Still would've been better) 11. To let the cat out of the bag (The cat now revealed all our secrets... Spilled the beans... Damn cat!) 12. To make ends meet (And when the ends of two wires meet, I'll get paid... Or not... I'm a bomb disposal technician) 13. No pain, no gain (You have to suffer a lot through the pain to gain a little bit of wheat that nobody eats) 14. Not my cup of tea (I won't buy this cup, it's ugly and small... give me that one, please!) 15. Once in a blue moon (Blue moon is a type of full moon that appears once in two-three years... Just like with my *ex) 16. To pull smb's leg (So I can't go. Telling me a joke that seems like the truth, so I would be interesting in but will miss the train) 17. Through thick and thin (For better and worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish, till death...) 18. Money under the table (So nobody would see it up here through the glass table) 19. Under the weather (Am I looking like under the bad raining-cloudy weather that made me ill? No, don't worry, it's my usual look) 20. Up in the air (Feel that? I smell it, it's your ideas right in the air around... It sti...)
