Best razor I’ve used. I’ve used straight razors, band razor, DE, SE, and cartridge. It’s nearly impossible to cut yourself. I might have gotten a small nick in my ear in over a year of daily use. It’s small enough to shave the inside of the ear. It’s so safe, you can shave in six minutes without rushing. I have been stropping the current cartridge on my arm as demonstrated on a YT video for about month. Occasional shaves with my Merkur 34G and 37G, and my Gillette Fusion serve to confirm the Shavelogic’s supremacy.
I have to say with the proper technique this has been my closet shave usually I still have some stubble under my jaw in the trouble spots but my most recent time using that blade it took away all the stubble. No cuts no clogs just a few issues with my handle inlay getting loose ( the little piece of silver chrome band that goes around the handle) I am just gonna wait till it falls of then I am gonna JB weld it back on.
If not for you, I'd of never discovered this razor. I shave mostly my neck and head, dense follicles on my head destroys razors. Nothing I've tried really handles density/thickness of my Puerto Rican hair like this thing. Absolutely best shave I've ever had and I've tried just about every cartridge. (Previously preferred defender, discovered here as well) Seriously, thank you for your videos.
The first shave I tried with the Shave Logic razor was a complete failure. I will try again. It missed alot of facial whiskers unless the blade was on upside down.
The blade can only connect in the right direction. Shavelogic is designed to minimize irritation, cuts and ingrown hairs - so there is a bit more work to be done for BBS. I suggest a two or three pass method to achieve better results.
Tony, great review as always. Thanks for introducing your subscribers like me to this razor. I think that now is the best time to buy the SHAVELOGIC S5 razor. On their website, they have a $25.00 SL5 welcome Kit ( Razor & 4 cartridges ) with a $10.00 gift card.
Ordering mine tomorrow. Hope it works well with Cremo shave cream. New to your channel. Love your videos. They have inspired me to transition from my Norelco. More about that later.
Welcome to the channel, William 🖐🏽 I really enjoy the SL5 from shavelogic and would probably use it everyday if I didn’t do these reviews. Let me know how you like it.
@@averageguytested I forgot to mention that to get use to Razor shaving form my Norelco, I am first shaving with the Norelco then doing a cleanup with the Mach 3. Still perfecting my technique but it is going well. Can’t believe the difference. Haven’t used a blade razor since I was in basic training when in the Air Force in 1971.
Do you suggest laser for beard ?? Or shaving is better ?? Please answer my Question I love your videos before I buy anything regarding my beard I watch your videos
Tony, based on your review I ordered the S5 yesterday. I’m curious, often I let my stubble grow out a bit without shaving. Basically I won’t do any beard maintenance at all for 5, 6, sometimes even 7 days. I don’t have a trimmer of any kind (I really should get one for multiple reasons). Anyway, have you ever just let your beard grow out totally naturally for that long and then shaved with the S5? And if so, what was your experience like?
@@averageguytested Thanks. Would you say I’d have to do more passes with the S5 if I let my beard go that long than if I was using say the Fusion5 or ProGlide, or pretty much the same?
Great review but a few downsides that I can not believe they overlooked (considering how long they spent designing the handle and magnet mechanism) - 1. No precision trimmer on the back of the razor and 2. No stand to match the awesome looking handle. If they add the precision trimming blade ill give this a look
No need for a precision trimmer - which by the way suck on most razors. The beautiful thing about Shavelogic is the overall design. They packed 5 blades in about 3/4 of the space of most multi blades so you can reach any spot on your face with it.
@@averageguytested i usually like to line up the cheek portions of my beard and the areas under my ears to a straight point would the 5 blades take care of that? Honestly the gillete precision blade is probably the only reason ive stuck with gillette. Appreciate the quick response
Hey - I see your point for line ups. You’ve got me there. I use One Blade for fine detail work, but I’d be happy to try shavelogic for a line up comparison video and I’ll give you a shout out for the idea. Next video - anything you want me to focus on?
@@averageguytested wow thanks that would be great. I think the biggest thing for me and my buddies is determining whether or not to stick to disposable razors like the Gillete/Shavelogic/Harry's or to go with an easy to use straight razor like Twig/Leaf that are popping up more and more. I think with the frequent sales it's hard to argue with Gillete Fusion ProGlide refills that you can find at $1.50-3 a pop but Im more looking to get a closer shave rather than save a few bucks (which i think is the general consensus from those that have gone through the paces of trying different razors). For example I tried the new Gillete blade with the exfoliation and it does as good of a job as my ProFusion blades but the blades cost more. Idk if that's an attempt from Gillete at trying to broaden their marketshare by targeting those who want a more "premium" experience or what. Id say for me at least Id love to see a comparison video of any shaving system that has a line up/touch up blade built in vs the new straight razor systems as mentioned above. Really appreciate your videos and your responses to my questions
Great video, Tony! Hope the folks at Shavelogic appreciate your expertise and enthusiasm. Carla sends her regards, and we hope you are having a good summer. All the best...
@@averageguytested - I always seem to get irritation shaving ATG with a DE Razor and I have tried many and many different blades with different tallow shave soaps! I can never get a baby smooth shave like I can with a Fusion or Mach 3 so I will definitely give this razor a try! Not to mention DE shaves are really time consuming and that is what a lot of DE razor guys don't tell yah! U don't really save $ either because u have to find the right DE razor that works for you with over 200 to choose from and also the right DE blade combo so u have to keep buying different DE razors and experimenting with different DE blades with them! It is a pain in the rear to be honest and too time consuming!

Never tried the Arc
Thanks for another great video Tony! Hope your having a nice summer man ✌️

This is definitely a winner of a cartridge razor. Everything about it is solid.

Not yet. Good?
@@averageguytested no idea. Waiting for you. Lol
Hi Godbless you always and your family. I want a recommendation from you about which cartridge razor for head shaving in the market right now.
Same
Do they have a trimmer blade on the back for under nose?
I don’t believe so, but the cart head is so slim that you don’t need one.
Is it better than mach 3 turbo ?
Yes
The razor looks like a winner for you brah! I’ve took a little break from UA-cam, but im back baby. 🤙🏻
I’ve taken a bit of a break too! Been a lazy first part of the summer for me.

No trimmer blade? Does the blade easily come off while shaving since it's only held on with a magnet? Hmm don't know if it's worth the extra cost.

I’d avoid a laser - but I enjoy shaving.

That’s sad, brah!
The blades being closer together, I would imagine would limit the ease of rinsing at times.
Not a bit. Unique and innovative design.
Only thing keeping me from trying this is...I can't walk into Target and buy it like the Harry.
