Searching for loads for my 280ai, and happened to distract myself and listen to this episode. Great story, and made it even cooler to know you got your moose with a 280 ackley!
Ron, thanks so much for taking us all along on your moose hunt. After your first shot, I was thinking “shoot again!”. I’ll certainly listen to more of your podcasts. I liken it to hunting stories around the cabin after a day of being out in the forest. The wood stove fired up, hungry folks have eaten, and the table being cleared for poker players. And a few adult beverages. Cheers!
Booked for a Bull Moose hunt, peak rut, on the "Rock", at your recommendation I recently purchased a "7mm Remington Magnum", this one from Savage a 110 Timber, 24" barrel. One thing leads to another, have ordered a new 3.5×10×50 Leupold scope, now I need a lockable hard case for the flight in.. Upon my arrival my guide service will fly me in a sea plane to base camp, chopper flies me to a spike camp 🏕 , really leaning toward adding a Black Bear tag, at an additional $600.00, I think I'll do it! This is a stumble on Bear tag, so no donut/pastries barrel bait in, to which I grimace at the thought. Bringing home a truck load of Moose and Blueberry fat Bear meat, well that's a dream hunt I've had my whole life! I remember your article from "95", a source of great inspiration for me, really takes me back, God speed Mr. Spomer! - lifelong fan
I appreciate the stories and all the years of good fun outdoor adventures from your point of view Ron. Just fun and informative stuff from a man who has hunting, shooting and outdoor sports in his heart. Thanks again sir, good hunting and gods speed to you and yours. 🎥👍💯🥇🥇🥇
Nice hunt, nice Wrangell sheep. Not to many guides named Terry, with horses, in the Wrangell's, on the Nebesna river. I trapped in that country and worked for Terry and Deb in the 80's. They taught me alot about hunting with horses. I got paid for that kind of good stuff. Trapper scotty, Alaskan
Would love to the the side arm you bring on these hunts. You talk about the rifles but the side arms ...did you bring a Taurus judge with on the pronghorn hunt for snakes? Or a 44 while moose hunting.?
Naw, no need of a sidearm for snakes. They are easy to step around. Heck, I've stepped right over several rattlers in the western U.S. Never been struck at. I've even lain prone to photograph them from ten feet away. Around the ranch where they might be a threat to grandkids I can dispatch them with a rock, hoe, or stick. Now, the massive coon-tail rattlers and such of south TX might be a more challenging problem, but I've been pretty close to some of those plus cottonmouths with no threat from them other than warning me to keep away. As for bear country, I've just trusted to my rifle and have yet to need to apply it.
These incredible handcrafted mass produced knives made out of mild steel that are so soft that they won’t hold the sharp edge longer than one meal prep are on sale now! Don’t miss your opportunity to be taken for a ride… warning: buying this product will only confirm your gullibility and lack of knowledge of what a decent knife really is. Merry Christmas🎅🎄
Is it possible to get a good guided moose hunt for under $2,000? I'm interested in doing it in the future but probably won't be willing to spend $20k on it
@@RonSpomerOutdoors-Podcast well I'll just have to spend the extra money, because I want a moose hunt eventually, gotta pursue things you are passionate about 😎
Moose hunts in Alaska are $30,000 give or take a few. They are the most expensive hunts in Alaska. I checked with several outfitters last fall and found out this information I abandoned the idea lol

The 280 AI can do it!
Great story. Man, you can write, and you can read a story. Reminded me of my grandma reading to me.
Many thanks, Craig. Glad you enjoyed.
You definitely make me feel like I'm right there on the hunt with you, I love hearing these stories Ron , thanks for sharing them 👍
Thank you, Matt! So happy you enjoy them.

Good luck!
Always love this.
I enjoy the hunting stories very much! Hope to hear many more in the future. Thanks
Thanks John.
I've got to show this to my dad. He's not into internet or technology but has been hand loading most his life, and I know he would LOVE your content.
Bring him in S.J. We'd love to have him as a listener.
I love hearing your stories, they really brighten my day
Why, thank you Viking. Glad you're enjoying them.
Great story, and so well read!
Thank you Lee.

Thanks so much, Joel. Happy hunting to you.
I love watching your videos. What brand shirts do you wear? Are they wool? I’m a big fan of wool shirts. Thanks. Jason.

Jacob, I doubt you could conduct a do-it-yourself moose hunt for under $2,000. Sorry.

@@BuRn1NgAnUs Yes indeed. Plan and save and make it happen.
