Good points. Long term stay really depends on your ability to accept and adapt a different way of life.
Facts bro
Wow thanks bro. Didn’t see the super thanks before.
@@JasperinthePhilippines Yeah it doesn't show up on mobile but does on my Mac
@@Gurkha9 much appreciated my friend.
Shiiiiit 12 hundo doesn't even cover my mortgage here in the US. Thanks again for ensuring that a single dude can do ok with that amount of money, you and few others guys have proven that as opposed to the sweet spot budget, don't get me wrong if you have that, good on ya. Keep on keeping on brotha. Peace!
Yes sir beers!!!!!!
Tune in for the lives bro.
Thank you Jasper for still choosing the Philippines to live after 7 months.always stay safe❤🇵🇭
Salamat cecille
I love the country and the ideals. I came back after a month of living outside Manila. There are things that I had a tough time adjusting to. Being on guard and feeling like a target was one of them…people will try to take advantage of you, they will ask you for money… it’s just the way it is. I have travelled extensively, it didn’t surprise me but you have to be in the right mindset for it and be patient / polite as possible. I subscribed, I will be back in the Philippines next year.
Thank you so much you are 100% correct you are perceived as wildly, wealthy and people may look at you as an opportunity to try to overcharge you try to broker things and make money and then you will also encounter extremely kind people that won’t except your money, but yeah it’s a bit of an adjustment and I’m still entrenched in that but I’m coming out the other side and I am happy
Is it the same inside manila and big cities?
@@k.f.9875Worse in Manila, it carries over into the smaller cities though.
Not a scam, but I did have to say no about 15 times at Rizal park. I enjoyed Rizal Park the most early in the morning (7AM)...After that the crew of people in green vests attempting to sell pictures / tours comes out.
The horse ride around intramuros (Spanish Old Town of Manila)....Don't pay anything above 500. You can pay 200-300 for a 30 minute right instead of the hour. They will attempt to charge between 1000-4000.
Scams I experienced? The Taxi Scams are common in Manila. Long Hauling...Taking the wrong way....Not turning on the meter are the two I experienced. The Long Hauling guy stopped twice...For gas and once to fill up his radiator. The gas attendant literally put in 10 seconds worth of gas if he put any in at all before removing the hose. Took over an hour to get to SM Aura from Chinatown. I kept me mouth shut, even though I was fully aware of what he was doing simply because we were not in a great area. I didn't feel like getting dumped at his friends house, and being taken for everything I had. I think the total was 300-400 pesos. The meter scam was from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 on my last day....He did not turn on the meter and claimed it was a flat rate of 500 after we arrived....I flat out told him no, gave him 200 ( which was still more than it should have been). Needless to say I think the guy could tell I was not having it.
As Jasper said in the video, it is far more common to be overcharged rather than out right scammed. Tricycle drivers may be honest or attempt to charge you 2 or 3 times what a local would be....It's not a scam but its going to rub you the wrong way after a few weeks of interacting with the same guys over and over and finally you learn what it should cost. I would rather it be fair and give them a bit extra than be overcharged.
Asking money? Maybe they're just kidding come on don't be serious although many Filipino think that foreigner has a lot of money, bro they're just no knowledge about the reality
Most areas are the same
This format IS definitely a Winner! Keep it up Jasper!
Yes sir thank you Todd. Missed ya on the lives bro! But you’re a member so you can watch when you have time if you want. Salamat

BGC is a city and the cost of living is definitely way too high compared to Boracay. So if you are young, rich, a city person or party goer, then BGC can be your choice. But if you are already a bit matured person and wants a simple happy life, nature lover and wants a peaceful environment then Boracay or some other provinces like Cebu would be your choice. Thank you for loving the Philippines and we Filipinos would certainly give you support. You made a wise choice. Hope you will find a loving partner here. 😉
Thank you so much, Helen. I lucked out and got an amazing deal, but I found Boracay to be extremely expensive. If you’re trying to live on the beach or maybe they were just trying to overcharge me but if you move away from the water or up angol Road. You can find deals for sure. I paid 30k in bgc. 14k in bora. Salamat maam.
@@JasperinthePhilippines 30K in BGC isn't extreme. I was at The Avant at the Fort near High Street. In Santa Rosa, I was next to Enchanted Kingdom. I over paid for that place but no lease. Although after hearing how much you were paying in AC costs...I don't think most would agree to that.
30 K is nothing in bgc. You can get units for 25 at Parkwest or an unfurnished unit somewhere. But 30 to 35K is going to be the standard for any nice building furnished in BGC which is not really a lot of money to a person from the west.
@@JasperinthePhilippines 14K must be a very exceptional price for Boracay (of course I haven't seen the place - just subscribed today) seeing that Boracay is one of the most touristic places in the Philippines. I would expect life to be much more expensive there than i.e. in Ormoc, Leyte, where I once had a house.
Yes sir
Thanks for the Information. Your channel is the best and very Helpful. As soon as I get back in Shape im there.

Hello Sir Jasper! you are amazing! and doing great! Thank you for promoting my beloved country and thank you for sharing everything including the bad things... now just wanted to share about the Brown out(power outages) situation, I am a healthcare virtual assistant and i need to be online and have power for work, I circumvent such situations with using solar power. There is an expensive one from big companies,(100k-600k pesos) but there is also a DIY where you purchase your own solar cells and you can get an electrician to put everything in for you(range from 75k-200k-- only difference is the insurance latter one does not have it). There is a lot of Filipino vloggers doing solar panel DIYs if youd like to check that option -- also starlink was such a blessing where my internet is not affected anymore :) so im 100% online with my job -- just wanted to share with you sir.
Ok ok I’ll check it. Salamat
Thanks for this information, I was wondering how much solar would be out there.
Jasper you're right I can live off of 1200 a month in the Philippines no problem and I can get a condo in Manila a studio would be good for me
Yes sir. Really depends on if you have a gf your rent etc. but your money will certainly go much further here & 1200 can happen
Yes, but you are going to live more like a local than a tourist...200-300 usd for rent,...If you really look you can find furnished units. AirBnB assume 500-600 for the same place.
No, I’m living like a tourist and I am under 1200
Living like a local you’d be more around three to $400 a month

Just stumbled upon your channel Jasper. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders, so I subscribed. Thanks for sharing your insight & experience in the Philippines.
A little bit about myself. I'm a retired single male who lives in the Southern part of the U.S. I already live very frugal here out of necessity, but it is a struggle just to make ends meet staying within my strict monthly budget. I live off of SS, a small pension, and doing odd jobs here & there. I come from a large family, and have been invited to move in with a brother & sister-in-law, but I've been independent and a bachelor for so long that it is not what I wish to do. So I have been doing extensive research on living abroad and have narrowed down the countries that appeal to me. Those being Ecuador, The Philippines, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Before I decide on a move, I will take a exploratory 30 day visit first. That's my plan anyway.
Very smart you need to do a 30 day discovery trip. It will be well worth the money and I have a strong feeling. You might end up in the Philippines but good luck to you Brother I’m so happy that you found my channel and that you enjoy the Content. Just trying to share real life experience from somebody boots on the ground doing it in real time.
Thank u for your compliments again amd congrats your now in 15k subscribers, i know soon u will hit 100k after 1month i wish too ..Just keep on vlogging.. try to make a video also in some other provinces like bohol where u can see the lagoon cave, zip line , chocolate hills, the artificial diff.icon towers from diff. countries in 1 place.. cheaper price also since Bohol is also a Province... but we respect if thats your decission..Goodluck❤..
Wow ma’am ♥️🇵🇭 Sana all.
I hope you’re right ma’am
I'll be there Jasper but I'm going to Manila first I'm going to check on a condo and then I'll meet up with you
All good bro manila is a better fit for some people then a province like Boracay. It depends on what you value and if you can handle the air quality in Manila.
I have been busy lately with work.. catching up with my missed vlog of yours.. take always Jasper :)
Thank you so much, Tom
Great sharing. Good luck. ❤

Just a reminder that the Philippines is also a typhoon capital of the world. Please expect typhoons also maybe a year or 2. There will be blackouts, and no electricity, internet, or water.

Hey Jasper, I agree with everything you said… I was there in October for about five weeks. It’s changed my life. I am moving soon you’re very candid. I appreciate that.

Good decision dude,Philippines is a multi bilingual country and language is always a big deal as I have experienced that when I lived in Thailand, I' forced myself to study the language for me to get around and fell safe..though of course I did not bother about reading thai anymore as I don't want to complicate myself even more..
Ha ha thanks addy 🇵🇭❤️
multi lingual = more than 2 languages / bilingual = 2 languages...see the difference? you can't ue them in one sentence at the same time.

in boracay.. if you buy near in the beach.. of course.. its expensive. like 2 times or 3 times the price. but if you go to community village or in common market.. you get the suggested retail price.

Currently looking at opening up 2 businesses here as we have made investments. The people here are super friendly. Always have a positive attitude. Always keep vigilant as you do. It is safe here. The language barrier is not a problem. It will take time to adjust for 1st timers to the way of life. Yes the brown outs are a real eye opener. Sometimes brown outs can last up to 12 hours where I am staying in the provinces. But definatley it is a country to check out.
Wow so nice. Yes brown outs are a problem. In the province for sure. Thank you for your comment.
@Jasper in the Philippines 🇵🇭 the weather here at the moment is pretty hot. But being from Australia this is not a issue. The issues I currently have is you always need cash on you. Well said and done. I agree there are much better places to live than Dumaguete. 10 years ago Dumaguete was a small town not really on the radar but now it's totally different. The expat community is very large and prices for everything expat related have risen greatly, and with many expats comes drama. For me Bacolod and Puerto in Palawan are my top 2 choices. Like you said the Philippines is not for everyone but if it's fits it's a wonderful life. Enjoy your journey and take care my friend.
Exactly. I think you’re much better off and Palawan than Duma. Yeah you’re not rare there’s tons of white guys walking around and with tons of foreigners walking around you get raised rental prices etc. so I don’t know I just see every guy going there but these guys are a little bit older than me and I’m a very adventurous fella I guess so I just decided to go to Cebu go to Manila and then go to Boracay personally but nothing against D Magette. In my opinion Dumaguete is for those less confident in general, those who need other expats around them. It's shown in most that settle there are of a similar mindset, hardly travel & know very very little about other parts of the Philippines.
It's their little comfort blanket, home from home & with other US natives around them.

Have you tried Ilocos? Many of my friends who have been there told me that it is liveable in that part of the country where all kinds of happenings and beautiful beaches is also been an exciting places to go to. Explore more. You will feel bored once you have reach the familiarity stage that every foreigners felt after staying for awhile. They had left but returned and settled for good.
No, I’ve never tried it. Maybe I’ll check it out.
Iloilo city is great 👍 biking friendly city.
it is the people they are wonderful.

You sound just like all the other bloggers. Everything is perfect in the Philippines.
Actually, I’ve said many bad things about the humidity, the milk at the post office you clearly need to watch some more of my videos
@@JasperinthePhilippines I live in the Philippines, I can write a book.
what I hate is the staring. Where I live you can find a house for 5000-7000 pesos a month.

I hope to be there by xmas... Spent 2 months there... 2019 and 2022... Love the Philippines.. the people. I had been told that $2K a month is not enough there ..but ??? I think that's BS..Maybe meet you..run into you someday.. I visited Makati, CDO, Camiguin, Siargao, Cebu City and Bohol... Going to start out in Cebu City... Have an amazzing day,.,
Yes sir 2k is great. Ya get out here!
generally what's the temperature of the water at the beaches ?
No clue but it’s Caribbean warm
Dude, love your videos,I have a question, how is the flight over there? Your honest opinion.Flying for me is sketchy.. Thanks Curt
It’s not bad Los Angeles to manila is like 13 hours and change. Try to get the exit row and it’s not that bad it’s just like flying to New York twice or some thing I’m not gonna say it’s super easy or you don’t have jet lag sometimes but it’s doable bro just get yourself here my friend it’ll be fine I don’t like flying either and I did the flight three times and it was well worth it my friend.
Thank you for the compliment about my videos
