I love the twist at the end of this song where he and his lady ( but in real life Bob is actually gay ) meet up by accident because it was his lady that had actually made the ad he was reading in bed as she slept beside him- they were both getting bored with each other - but their rendezvous through the ad brought them close again. Great little comical romance story with a twist at the end in a catchy song. 👍❤
I'm from the U.S. and I've never seen this guy but he's hilarious! Is he doing an American accent here? I know that the character doesn't have an American accent later, it just sounds like it here.
OMG... what year is that?? even i can't remember. 1988? the show is called TIL TEN, and i gotta say, they actually did a smooth sound mix. I can't wait to show it to Joan - she's a neighbour of mine these days! Thanks for posting MissTinsley - i've added it to my playlist and now i'm prompted to start editing up the archives, just like i;ve been promising to do! ;-) BOB x
Yes, he's definitely doing a faux American accent. From my understanding of Bob, he often satirized the most gauche and crass in the Australian entertainment industry - many of whom affect an occasional American sound for perceived "cool" effect. What's worse is that the attempted US accent is often ludicrously out e.g. "deeverrrr" for "diva". Similarly, British accents were once attempted for their imagined "classy" effect.
I miss Bob !!
