I use to run from Miramichi to Saint John, and then back to the island with no issues (one ton, 3 ton deck truck) One day I had to go to Amherst to pick up a tractor for the dealer I was working for and got at nailed at scales just inside the NS border for not having covers over my chain boxes ( didn’t need them in NB or PEI). I always keep a pice of plywood, a few nails and hammer with me from that day on Incase I had to run Into NS. Haha your video is bring back so many memories from hauling tractors around the maritimes... cheers!
Thank you. Very helpful. Nice to see where your machine sits on the 30 ft trailer (front to back). We also have a KX080 and need a trailer. I think I want a flatbed (no dovetail) with pull out ramps, but not sure yet. Invite your thoughts, opinions, lessons learned, recommendations on trailer length. Thank you so much.
Good to know. I bought a Kubota KX121-3 a year ago and have been learning to use it on my rather steep one-acre lot in the Appalachian foothills in GA. I don't have a trailer to haul it yet. When I need to move it (like to my kids' homes, not for hire yet), I call the local towing co and they haul it for me for $100. I don't move it often. I do want a good solid trailer, I don't want my machine rolling off in a ditch somewhere because I tried to save money on a cheap trailer. A good trailer is like insurance. A descent 18' trailer will run me about $3-4,000 used and a new one about $5-6,000. My excavator weighs 4.5 tons.
Thanks for sharing this! I was wondering how steel tracks work with the steel beaver tail ramps. Looks like you had no problems loading this unit at all!
nice. and i like that wheel chock idea...after all these years, i was _finally_ going to fab up fold down stabilizers at the back of my mowing trailer, but chocks are much easier 😂 i still need to put on stabilizers, though to mitigate the rocking during unloading and loading. you need those speed binders like vbelt has...
Ramps = grunting sound, hydraulic dove tail - no grunting😂. I hope you can make it out west some day, you and Sam are two of my favorites and I’d like to take you both out to lunch!👍👍👍🇺🇸
your chains in X are touching together, here in Canada it is not allowed by the ministry of transport. The chaînes in x must not touch each other. And, the boom I always place in front because i can squeeze my extra bucket with the blade and the boom.
@@workplaytv Do the chains tighten over the sprockets when they come from the opposite side of the trailer, and through the track to the tie down point outside of the track. I guess I’m asking if the sprockets are strong enough to be cinched down. That wasn’t really clear on the first attempt at asking.
I haven’t actually but there are lots out there and seem to be holding up quite well. Most people I talk to say they are happy with them. I picked up a Diamond C. Now that is a hell of a trailer.
Grade 70 or 80 3/8 is usually good for this type of transport. They have about 6600lbs rating per chain. You could go ½ inch which is rated for about 11000lbs, but I think it's overkill unless you're doing really heavy transport.
I’m Sort of a tow/haul noob here, I assume you need a CDL A for that setup? If so any suggestions on how to borrow a truck for the tests ;) , great setup and video by the way. Hello from New Hampshire
@@workplaytv thanks for the info. I dream of owning nice equipment and hauling it around... but damn it's so expensive lol How did you get started? Small Business Loans? or did you get contracts with older / cheaper gear and upgrade when you could?
That's a great video. I would like to email you. I already commited to a CAT304 with the Torrent head and would like to ask you some questions. Thank You
Great videos! For new subscribers can you do a video explaining what you do for a living. Is your company just a all around construction company and snow plowing? You just have a lot of different videos. Thank you.
Man I chose the wrong line of work. I would kill for a nice diesel truck but will never be able to afford one. If I had the space I would buy an old pre emissions / pre computer diesel truck that is easy to work on so I can tear it to the frame and rebuild it but no where to do it.
You like living on the edge of dying, V Belt Sam hauls his 80 behind his 5500 I'm guessing you guys haven't had a scare to shake come common sense into you. I've been hauling our 80s all over hells half acre for the last 5 years the safest way to haul them is on the back of a tandem bin truck, takes 5 minutes to load and go. We also have a 33,000lb gvw F750 with a 30,000lb tag with electric brakes the 6.7 Cummins barely has enough balls to haul an 80 on the trailer I've powered out on hills with the alison in first gear. I don't get how you guy's figure its safe to be pulling 8 ton excavators behind a light duty truck? I've been driving commercially for 19 years on and off, you guys doing the haywire shit makes the CVSE guys pick on the guys that run legal. Guys that run mini excavating businesses in this area won't pull anything bigger than a KX57 size machine behind a F-550 sized truck.
Graveltrucking Ok first off man there is nothing about my operation that is nit legal. I am safe before anything. I can stop just as fast as a big rig hauling there big loads big to mention a train load. Sounds like you have a safe operation so good for you. This is what works for my situation and I will continue to do what works for me. And no I have never had a close call because I am a good aware driver and do what I can to avoid those situations but I understand some people just help themselves from being super truckers.

Great vid. I really like the head mounted camera. Was way better than a selfish stick and made the vid more POV
Man is that a nice rig. Love that flat bed on the f550
Nice on the Camera ! Excellent suggestions...👍☺👍✔
Thanks for the how to video, As always like it.

I also have a 35ft and for hauling only equipment the 30ft is much better.
Thank you sir@@workplaytv
Love your videos man! Keep up the good work. Can't stop watching them👍
Chris Miller Haha awesome thanks man.

Thanks for video great info 👍
Great Video Thanks.
Good tips, and it all makes sense. 👍
Good vid buddy i just got a new equipment trailer for our mini ex worked on get it all set up yesterday gonna see how she pulls today
Thia was a well explained video. What is a adequate size excavator to start demo work. I am considering JD 85G or JD 130
The 85 would be a nice size to start with. You can do a lot with that machine
Thank you for properly sharing how to tie a machine down. I have NOT been taught properly.
Good job pov worked well

Rocking K Videos hey man I’d love too!
Rocking K Videos man ramps! Haha
Can you post a video with your truck settings lock hubs when you snowplowing?
The biggest advantage I always used was to also utilize the trailer jack as additional stabilization when loading/unloading.
your chains in X are touching together, here in Canada it is not allowed by the ministry of transport. The chaînes in x must not touch each other. And, the boom I always place in front because i can squeeze my extra bucket with the blade and the boom.
Do the rear chains on that machine interfere with the drive sprockets at all? Doesn't look like it, but just asking.
Not sure what you are asking

Nice informative video, thanks!
Great Job and how to😉👍
Good Job my friend 👍. Please buddy, how much does the machine weigh?
19,500
Does it matter which way the head is mounted? I notced yours is the reverse to mine.
Had any exsperance with the Big Tex goosenecks with a high point on the dove tail? Mine teeters really bad with skidsteer and my mini ex. Thanks, John

Ride done the road good loaded? Mine is more bouncy as well...no matter how i load.
Im thinking on air ride truck and trailer.
@@zmans66 load your equipment farther forward on trailer, may take some of the bounce out.
Hey can you make a small video on how long you think we should leave our cars turned on in the winter before we take off in very cold weather?
Can you show how much gain to put for trailer brakes
Awesome camera position. We got lots of freezing rain in Truro.
Cameron Graham Pretty much all rain here
How did you know which chains to use they all have different weight load limits?
Grade 70 or 80 3/8 is usually good for this type of transport. They have about 6600lbs rating per chain. You could go ½ inch which is rated for about 11000lbs, but I think it's overkill unless you're doing really heavy transport.
What is the length of your deck and the GVWR?
What year is the f550. Also how many miles does it have on it.
Nicolas Calandro has roughy 42,000 miles 2017
What camera do you use? And do you use a drone as well? Great job.
I believe it a go pro hero 7. I have a drone but barely find time to use it.
I'm trying to find a video of yours where you unload the excavator off that exact trailer?
What happened to the load if one of the crossed chains breaks?
how do you setvice your mulcher head(all aspects)
thx for content and time....
TipTop LandSolutions Not much to service just keep it greased and the Teeth right! Lol
Is a 8ton machine the biggest you can legally haul with the F-550?
Drew Murphy yeah pretty much
I’m Sort of a tow/haul noob here, I assume you need a CDL A for that setup? If so any suggestions on how to borrow a truck for the tests ;) , great setup and video by the way. Hello from New Hampshire
Yeah you do. Here in Nova Scotia the minimum is your class 3 with condition 15
@@workplaytv thanks for the info. I dream of owning nice equipment and hauling it around... but damn it's so expensive lol How did you get started? Small Business Loans? or did you get contracts with older / cheaper gear and upgrade when you could?
@@CameronAudet I started with a cheap truck, a chipper , cheap saws and went from there. When I say cheap truck it was nee but base model 150
@@workplaytv That gives me hope :) great videos by the way. (Hello from New Hampshire USA)
Nice!! One more thing... drive a few miles, recheck your chains.... :-)
Just curious what do you do for a living?
Diego Muñoz I own a construction/general contracting/ vegetation management company
very cool, what are you doing with the excavator?
DonnaSean construction work and vegetation management
Any chance you could do a video on loading equipment in a dump trailer and tieing it down effectively?
trenrod Sure . Same concept just using ramps instead and use your anchors inside your trailer for your tie down locations.
Great video - everything secured properly. Damn I'd love to do what you do - all that equipment is awesome. What are the small gray buildings?
hogdriver88 They are just for storage.
That's a great video. I would like to email you. I already commited to a CAT304 with the Torrent head and would like to ask you some questions. Thank You

That’s a 22,000lbs excavator. how does your f550 do pulling it ?
Does very well. My 2021 450 does better
Dam brother that all that snow is almost gone 😳 that’s crazy I’m from Montana it’s going to be -4 tomorrow and-12 the next day
It’s funny you just mentioned Sam, I just came from his video
Lol yeah. I do have another video showing the right and wrong way to distribute weight on your trailer.
Dude, you need a pole barn for all your equipment (heated)
Scott Lincoln I agree !

I'm puzzled every time you say it's an 8 ton machine. I keep saying to myself it's a 9 ton machine. Then I released you were talking in metric tons.
