Maybe you should think of doing a 'Buy Me a Coffee' account, so that some viewers can pitch in small amounts of money but at the end of the day it might help to buy things to improve the inside of your van for instance, and stuff like that. I was following a PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) through hiker last year, and although he was not asking for money, he had a Buy Me a Coffee link in the description in all the vids he was posting. It was quite discrete and nothing he was boasting about in each of his vid, and I think it served the purpose very well. I think your vids are great, and I would be happy to use Buy Me a Coffee every now and then 😊💟

COVID! I had just gotten the courage up to head South (I am in Washington) when the absolute insanity of COVID struck. Do you remember how states were going to "close" their borders (as if they actually could. LOL)? I was going to do it anyway then my adult daughter asks me what am I going to do if I get sick and can't get help? Just die out there in the desert? Sheesh. Made me think twice. I should mention that I spent 98% of the time camping on BLM land and dispersed campgrounds, National Forests, etc. (I love the freedom and peace) So, anyway, I found a nice campground, rural and right between Mt St Helens and Mt Rainier. Love the mountains. The price was great and I thought I would wait till everything blew over, but it went on and on.... Lol. And I am still here, wondering where the time went. I have been itching to hit the road again. It's never far from my mind and heart. 😊

Could not agree more. Creating a whole new way of being in the world is a Super challenge.. AND she IS finding her way. I am a firm believer that every situation that comes to us is ULTIMATELY for our benefit. Our souls each have different lessons to learn and challenges to overcome. By meeting these challenges we become stronger for it.. our souls grow in wisdom. It is rarely fun, but often crucial to our soul's development. To be willing to embrace whatever comes at us, as best we can... that is a courageous soul for sure.
Here’s some ideas. 1. Put up your black curtain, black side facing the front, and then decorate the side facing the back. Put your pretty blue stuff on it so you can see it at night. 2. To level your bed, consider putting something under the short legs. This way you don’t have to empty the van. You should probably get a small level from Home Depot if you don’t have one. Maybe Home Depot will have a wood scraps area (mine does) where you can get a short 2x4 and could be they will cut pieces to put under the bed legs if you have a hand saw you could cut it yourself. 3. Put up your window covers in driver/passenger area at night to assist your black out curtains. That’s all I can think of right now.😊 What state are you living in. I’m in Pennsylvania and if I ever get on the road again, I may be able to head out that was. All would depend on medical 💩. Have a great night. I really like your videos. Yes! I am really enjoying some CoverGirl lipsticks. The best ones are in a squared black tube with the lipstick color on the bottom half inch. I think the formulation is called "Exhibitionist Creme" and it really feels soothing. It is more soothing than any of my lip balms. I have new tubes and year old tubes and they are all still soothing. I get mine at Bi-Mart, but I don't know if you have Bi-Mart stores in California.

You're not being lazy, you are going through major changes at the moment. You're body is regulating and that is why you are so tired. Rest when ever you can, going to the gym will help tremendously. I considered vanlife when I took early retirement from a NY Corrections job, burn out happened after 15yrs and it was affecting my overall health. I opted to move to Florida to be close to family and still find myself exhausted at times for no apparent reason, it's been 7 mths. So don't be so hard on yourself, give yourself some grace. Birdie I am so proud of you! For a level bed, I saw someone had glued one of those cheap levelers on their bed and they went to a goodwill and found four jacks to support the legs of their bed. Their reasoning was because sometimes you just can’t find someplace level to park and he needed a good rest not fighting an incline. I thought that was so smart.
Get the black curtains (the ones with the rings) to face out of the van and then sandwich it together with a patterned curtain to face into the van. They can each hang on the same curtain rod. Functional and beautiful.

I’d try the blackout eclipse fabric and I think you can cut the panels and make it work. You can also cover your existing window blinds with fabric black outside and some funky print inside. Most parking lots are designed always with a slight slant on purpose to allow for rain drainage. Many figure out a way to level bed whenever necessary. One you tuber I watch placed floor sponges under the bed to level. Those kid play room sponges for floors. Might help.
Oh yes I was going to tell you that you needed to turn the ads on because prior to that you were saying something just went up $20, I think it was, maybe for storage. So you need to have the money for the ads and don't feel bad about it. They didn't feel bad when they increased your rent!
I'd say to get your "ugly" black blackout curtains, but then get a lightweight tapestry or something to attach to the back with velcro, clothespins, whatever to brighten up your bedroom/living space. You might even find some old-stle head scarves to add some piops of color and interest. I'm planning on the tapestry thing. I've found a couple of the northern lights that I really like on Amazon. One is flourescent, so a blacklight bulb, at night, would really make the aurora colors pop.
@@christinamann3640 I went on Zazzle and bought several postcards, basically 3x5 photos of things like snow-capped mountains, fall foliage in the mountains, sea turtles, the northern lights, etc, for just that purpose. I think that they only cost me about 85 cents a piece. Etsy would probably be a good place to find stuff too. I also bought a couple of larger photos.

I felt like I dragged my daughter along with the chaos of my mental health and my daughter is also flourishing with her father. its a hard reality to accept, but we did the best that we could with our situation. Home Depot and/or Lowe’s would be great place to level out your bed. They allow you to empty out your van and work on it in their parking lot 🥰 Also, the YT channel “ travel snacks” sleeps in Hotel parking lots all the time.
I camp in my van sometimes, the floor is uneven, it wears on a girl after a while. Hubbs came up with a solution for us - interlocking foam floor tiles. You can cut them with a razor or knife, add extra layers for the lower areas. Then we tuck a tarp over the top to protect the foam. Hope this helps! Dollar Tree carries round Velcro where it’s sticky on the back. Attaching to window n window covers would work with what you have already for cheap. I also heard parking in front of apartments on street is great for stealth. Amazon also carries perforated window vinyl that allows you to look out but people can’t seen in!

Procrastination is not necessarily a laziness. I find my self procrastinating when it comes to doing new things and I do believe it comes from a bit of an insecurity that maybe I won’t get it right. So I have to remind myself if I don’t get it right, I can always redo and make it better, it’s not failure it’s knowing to learn through experience.

I got the longest panels as I could find then cut the length I needed, I was able to make the curtains for all my windows with 3 packs. I have a shuttle buss with 4 windows on each side and one big and 2 small ones on the back wall. I didn't buy rods. I used paracord and put up some command hooks and strung my curtains. I bought a kind of turquoise color and they are blackout also.

In our passenger van, we put carpet padding and then carpet on top. We didn't tack it down, only tucked it in where we could. It gives some padding for the knees and can be easily replaced for pretty cheap. I think we paid less than 100 for both.

You might have already done your bed but either get a piece of wood from HD or go the free route and go to a construction site and set talk the guys there for a tiny piece of wood. If you explain to them what you want to do and just need a short piece of 2x4 & maybe trim, they have a junk pile ALSO they might just help you do it.

I pulled in my camp Anne at a slant I just got out and found two rocks to stick under the wooden legs, there are no Home Depots or anything else around here it's all about dirt and rocks had a whole lot of cactus😂 okay so this life living in a van I just keep it real simple so simple I went to the Dollar Tree and spent about $5 to make my window covers, it's black which when installed inside it looks like you have tinted windows it's like contact paper thick so I bought some black duct tape size and just use the around the edges after the cut, this way it fits perfectly and is easy to take out and put back in so all in all you're looking at about $6 I'm a full timer and this is worked for me 12 + years . My curtains I purchased at the 99 cent store I use on my slider doors and behind my seats for privacy , this way even with the windows blocked out if I have the slider door open the curtain keeps the privacy because they hang from the top to the floor and I can position them to allow air in with the door open and still have privacy needed, this is very important for women to do Quartzsite is more for show and tell , however on your own out in the world doing your own thing still thing stealth wise, in the city at parks beaches it's better to keep things covered it's a safety precaution when doing your own thing, I hope this is helpful for you and maybe I'll see you down the road sometime this summer in the cooler area😂

I used the windshild shades, cut them to fit the windows, in my RV, keeps heat out and provides good black out. Should work for all of your van windows. $7 at walmart. And yes, turn on the ads for $$!!
Give yourself grace. When you decide to do the remodel I wonder if you could park in a side parking lot next to a hardware store so if you need anything you can walk over. Or do you still have your storage unit? For the windows We have black cloth used spray adhesives on to the foil and then you can put something cute on the back that you see. And they fit right in the windows.

I love your freedoms and your stories. I found that living in a van I could use a parking lot for big lot stores (not Walmart) and most are safe. Of course if you did not feel good with vibes being felt there, then drive away. Bathroom for bathing is another thing, where do you go ? Especially, if you don’t want a fitness center cost.🎉😅

Yes I am wanting to have my own van within the next five years. I am married, and I find it so fascinating to, see the country in a van. I thought about an RV but they’re too expensive but when I look at all the different van builds, it makes it seem more affordable especially if you do a builds that’s within your price range. My husband doesn’t like Vanlife but I want to do it part-time because my retirement years are coming upon me soon. If he doesn’t want to go out on trips in the van, then perhaps I can drag my sister along with me or one of my relatives if they have time. If nobody has time then I can continue to watch people like yourself or others whoare able to do Vanlife by themselves. I’m sure my husband wouldn’t mind me doing it here and there throughout the year it would give him a lot of time to himself because he and I enjoy visiting family both together and separate. I’m gonna have to try to drag my husband along sometime. It’s just gonna be some work. Lol. You could just put something like wood blocks under the legs of the bed to level it. You wouldn't have to move everything out. Check out Adventuring with Amanda. That's what she does.

Hello again Birdie, how are you? So, just had a nose on an old video I watched years ago that mentions using bulldog clips ( think you call them binder clips in America) to help with further blackout of your side windows which you can use with the spare fabric that will be left over from your front curtains by the seats. You wedge the arms of the clips in the spaces like where you have your credit cards over the back window. The other option is to use small magnets that you use on whiteboards or sew some into the edges. I have like a mesh version which I use to keep my car cool in summer, where the little magnets stick to the little bit of the metal door frame around the window. So you could use either option as well as your blinds. For the privacy part I have seen people buying a long flat piece of metal and bending the edges to fit into the plastic trim above the seat belt area too. Old style metal metre rulers if long enough would be good for this option to bend the edges but if you can hammer the curtain rail flat then try that. You can now buy a suspension curtain rail that sortmoc bends a little or thr other option is those bendy spare rods that are used in tents to create tension. What make of car do you have and I will research what others have done for you? As ever stay safe😊 Just curious where your flooring is concerned, how well do you get on with your ex ( daughters father)? Does he have a garage or would he mind you just using where he lives for a day to sort your floor out or do you have any friends or family who can help? There may be someone on here who lives local or a fellow vanlifer could help especially as they could park up to the side of you and you put your things outside wo you can erect something whilst having them watching over your things. Failing that head out of the city maybe to a campsite and stick your things in a tent while you work on your car. Does Macdonalds have free wifi if you sit in their carpark like they do in the UK, just remember to buy the odd cheapest thing every so often. Trying tomthinkmof other free wifi places you might have like we do. If your worried about red lippy, go for a red lip gloss instead😊

But he lives in an apartment so that wouldn't really work. And the only other person I actually know in real real life is my sister, who's in Texas. So, unfortunately, that just isn't an option for me. The tent idea is a very good one, though. And I shall see if that would work. :) McDonald's does have the Wi-Fi, but it's usually pretty crappy in the parking lot, you have to go into the store to use it. And they have a time limit with how long you can be in there. Luckily the library is a pretty liable place to get Wi-Fi. So I go there as often as I can. I should mention that I spent 98% of the time camping on BLM land and dispersed campgrounds, National Forests, etc. (I love the freedom and peace) So, anyway, I found a nice campground, rural and right between Mt St Helens and Mt Rainier. Love the mountains. The price was great and I thought I would wait till everything blew over, but it went on and on.... Lol. And I am still here, wondering where the time went. I have been itching to hit the road again. It's never far from my mind and heart. 😊

Here’s some ideas. 1. Put up your black curtain, black side facing the front, and then decorate the side facing the back. Put your pretty blue stuff on it so you can see it at night. 2. To level your bed, consider putting something under the short legs. This way you don’t have to empty the van. You should probably get a small level from Home Depot if you don’t have one. Maybe Home Depot will have a wood scraps area (mine does) where you can get a short 2x4 and could be they will cut pieces to put under the bed legs if you have a hand saw you could cut it yourself. 3. Put up your window covers in driver/passenger area at night to assist your black out curtains. That’s all I can think of right now.😊 What state are you living in. I’m in Pennsylvania and if I ever get on the road again, I may be able to head out that was. All would depend on medical 💩. Have a great night. I really like your videos. Hope the few cents you get from me watching commercials will assist. Vehicles always need gas.😂

Yes! I am really enjoying some CoverGirl lipsticks. The best ones are in a squared black tube with the lipstick color on the bottom half inch. I think the formulation is called "Exhibitionist Creme" and it really feels soothing. It is more soothing than any of my lip balms. I have new tubes and year old tubes and they are all still soothing. I get mine at Bi-Mart, but I don't know if you have Bi-Mart stores in California.

You're not being lazy, you are going through major changes at the moment. You're body is regulating and that is why you are so tired. Rest when ever you can, going to the gym will help tremendously. I considered vanlife when I took early retirement from a NY Corrections job, burn out happened after 15yrs and it was affecting my overall health. I opted to move to Florida to be close to family and still find myself exhausted at times for no apparent reason, it's been 7 mths. So don't be so hard on yourself, give yourself some grace. Birdie I am so proud of you! For a level bed, I saw someone had glued one of those cheap levelers on their bed and they went to a goodwill and found four jacks to support the legs of their bed. Their reasoning was because sometimes you just can’t find someplace level to park and he needed a good rest not fighting an incline. I thought that was so smart.
Get the black curtains (the ones with the rings) to face out of the van and then sandwich it together with a patterned curtain to face into the van. They can each hang on the same curtain rod. Functional and beautiful.

I’d try the blackout eclipse fabric and I think you can cut the panels and make it work. You can also cover your existing window blinds with fabric black outside and some funky print inside. Most parking lots are designed always with a slight slant on purpose to allow for rain drainage. Many figure out a way to level bed whenever necessary. One you tuber I watch placed floor sponges under the bed to level. Those kid play room sponges for floors. Might help.

I'd say to get your "ugly" black blackout curtains, but then get a lightweight tapestry or something to attach to the back with velcro, clothespins, whatever to brighten up your bedroom/living space. You might even find some old-stle head scarves to add some piops of color and interest. I'm planning on the tapestry thing. I've found a couple of the northern lights that I really like on Amazon. One is flourescent, so a blacklight bulb, at night, would really make the aurora colors pop.

@@christinamann3640 I went on Zazzle and bought several postcards, basically 3x5 photos of things like snow-capped mountains, fall foliage in the mountains, sea turtles, the northern lights, etc, for just that purpose. I think that they only cost me about 85 cents a piece. Etsy would probably be a good place to find stuff too. I also bought a couple of larger photos.

I camp in my van sometimes, the floor is uneven, it wears on a girl after a while. Hubbs came up with a solution for us - interlocking foam floor tiles. You can cut them with a razor or knife, add extra layers for the lower areas. Then we tuck a tarp over the top to protect the foam. Hope this helps! Dollar Tree carries round Velcro where it’s sticky on the back. Attaching to window n window covers would work with what you have already for cheap. I also heard parking in front of apartments on street is great for stealth. Amazon also carries perforated window vinyl that allows you to look out but people can’t seen in!

I got the longest panels as I could find then cut the length I needed, I was able to make the curtains for all my windows with 3 packs. I have a shuttle buss with 4 windows on each side and one big and 2 small ones on the back wall. I didn't buy rods. I used paracord and put up some command hooks and strung my curtains. I bought a kind of turquoise color and they are blackout also.

In our passenger van, we put carpet padding and then carpet on top. We didn't tack it down, only tucked it in where we could. It gives some padding for the knees and can be easily replaced for pretty cheap. I think we paid less than 100 for both.

I pulled in my camp Anne at a slant I just got out and found two rocks to stick under the wooden legs, there are no Home Depots or anything else around here it's all about dirt and rocks had a whole lot of cactus😂 okay so this life living in a van I just keep it real simple so simple I went to the Dollar Tree and spent about $5 to make my window covers, it's black which when installed inside it looks like you have tinted windows it's like contact paper thick so I bought some black duct tape size and just use the around the edges after the cut, this way it fits perfectly and is easy to take out and put back in so all in all you're looking at about $6 I'm a full timer and this is worked for me 12 + years . My curtains I purchased at the 99 cent store I use on my slider doors and behind my seats for privacy , this way even with the windows blocked out if I have the slider door open the curtain keeps the privacy because they hang from the top to the floor and I can position them to allow air in with the door open and still have privacy needed, this is very important for women to do Quartzsite is more for show and tell , however on your own out in the world doing your own thing still thing stealth wise, in the city at parks beaches it's better to keep things covered it's a safety precaution when doing your own thing, I hope this is helpful for you and maybe I'll see you down the road sometime this summer in the cooler area😂

Or do you still have your storage unit? For the windows We have black cloth used spray adhesives on to the foil and then you can put something cute on the back that you see. And they fit right in the windows.

I thought about an RV but they’re too expensive but when I look at all the different van builds, it makes it seem more affordable especially if you do a builds that’s within your price range. My husband doesn’t like Vanlife but I want to do it part-time because my retirement years are coming upon me soon. If he doesn’t want to go out on trips in the van, then perhaps I can drag my sister along with me or one of my relatives if they have time. If nobody has time then I can continue to watch people like yourself or others whoare able to do Vanlife by themselves. I’m sure my husband wouldn’t mind me doing it here and there throughout the year it would give him a lot of time to himself because he and I enjoy visiting family both together and separate. I’m gonna have to try to drag my husband along sometime. It’s just gonna be some work. Lol. I forgot to tell you that I glad that I found your channel and sub you too as well because I do want to explore on my own too as well. I know my husband would be really supportive of that. I just need to know how to do it safely.

So, just had a nose on an old video I watched years ago that mentions using bulldog clips ( think you call them binder clips in America) to help with further blackout of your side windows which you can use with the spare fabric that will be left over from your front curtains by the seats. You wedge the arms of the clips in the spaces like where you have your credit cards over the back window. The other option is to use small magnets that you use on whiteboards or sew some into the edges. I have like a mesh version which I use to keep my car cool in summer, where the little magnets stick to the little bit of the metal door frame around the window. So you could use either option as well as your blinds. For the privacy part I have seen people buying a long flat piece of metal and bending the edges to fit into the plastic trim above the seat belt area too. Old style metal metre rulers if long enough would be good for this option to bend the edges but if you can hammer the curtain rail flat then try that. You can now buy a suspension curtain rail that sortmoc bends a little or thr other option is those bendy spare rods that are used in tents to create tension. What make of car do you have and I will research what others have done for you? As ever stay safe😊
Just curious where your flooring is concerned, how well do you get on with your ex ( daughters father)? Does he have a garage or would he mind you just using where he lives for a day to sort your floor out or do you have any friends or family who can help? There may be someone on here who lives local or a fellow vanlifer could help especially as they could park up to the side of you and you put your things outside wo you can erect something whilst having them watching over your things. Failing that head out of the city maybe to a campsite and stick your things in a tent while you work on your car.
Does Macdonalds have free wifi if you sit in their carpark like they do in the UK, just remember to buy the odd cheapest thing every so often. Trying tomthinkmof other free wifi places you might have like we do.

I get along okay with my ex. But he lives in an apartment so that wouldn't really work. And the only other person I actually know in real real life is my sister, who's in Texas. So, unfortunately, that just isn't an option for me. The tent idea is a very good one, though. And I shall see if that would work. :)
McDonald's does have the Wi-Fi, but it's usually pretty crappy in the parking lot, you have to go into the store to use it. And they have a time limit with how long you can be in there. Luckily the library is a pretty liable place to get Wi-Fi. So I go there as often as I can.
