I used to say the same thing but really our ethnicity IS HISPANIC, while our culture is Mexican, Mexican culture just like the rest of Mestizo cultures are Hispanic since there are a lot of Spanish influences and Spanish is the official language of our culture. Nationality I would say we would be Mexican since though we weren't born in Mexico, I'm assuming you, just like me, have the Mexican nationality from our parents. In case China and the USA went to war, whose army would you be conscripted to? well, that would be the USA's since you are a citizen/resident there now and reside in it currently. It doesn't even matter if you feel more connected to your Chinese nationality still. The same can apply to undocumented immigrants, just because they don't have the US Nationality doesn't mean they won't be forced into the US Army, they're still US residents as a resident really just refers to people who live in that nation no matter their national origin. But like I've mentioned, Nationality wise you can identify as either whenever you want as long as you actually have them and even if you don't have Mexican nationality, well you're still Mexican due to the fact you're part of the cultural group.

My mom is full USA indigenous, my dad is mostly British w some Italian and spainard plus his great gma was indigenous, I don't even know what to call myself 😂
Latin America is pretty diverse in European blood aswell. For example some Puerto Ricans have very high Italian percentage they look different from the majority Iberian Puerto Ricans, the majority Italian Pr's have a higher chance of having curly hair aswell. Argentines are half Italian, and Spanish, and they are taller then the rest of latin Americans. Since Italians are two inches taller then Spaniards it makes sense. Southern area of Brazil has a very high percentage of German people, tall blonde blue eyed people. Iberian people tend to be shorter with fair to dark tan skin, and dark hair. North Spain is where you could find more blondes, and even some red heads.
This is very simplistic. If you want to find the country the most similar to Spain it is Uruguay. There they are Iberian mostly, from Galicia. That's why they call spaniards "gallegos". They are the most "European" in all of Latin America. They also received portugese, italians, jews, some french but not so many germans...
Also when you're saying Argentine is half Spanish half Italian, this is too simplistic. There are indigenous people in the North and some migrated to the big cities during the 80s. Also there is a Jewish population which is undercounted, easily 10% of the population is mostly of Jewish origin. Because many were just called "italians or polacos or germans". I know the story. In Spain they had jews too called Sephardic, here polacos.
Never heard the term Castizos before to reference South Americans of mostly european decent. There is a different definition to the term in the dictionary as well

@@Luci_S okay sure I guess I am Castizo my point is I am not ashame or deny the small amount of indigenous DNA I have. Like a lot of Other Latinos are unfortunately. @@melparker8689 Here in the U.S., most anglos, at least now a days, desperately want to "inherit" or proclaim to have Native American ancestry. Aside from the political divide (whites, blacks, asians, and all), I would say the economy and political spectrum (especially in the U.S.) has caused more divisiveness among each other all thanks to the wealthy elite who have done a banged up job by the way. The Spanish empire? They were just early capitalists who were playing "merchants", but still pillaged, robbed, and raped the natives. I mean, you have to be pretty stupid to not notice how white washed history has become while over-glorifying how "smart" and "ahead" our "founding fathers" were. Frankly I am disgusted with being an "American" as a nationality. There's nothing proud of, but then you have the GOP, Trump Tards, and Republicans still wrecking and hindering humanity. If you hear about some coconut wannabe trying to act and be all ""white" or "American", remind them that it was the Natives and Indigenous who were living in this land long before them: Shit, show them the history of California, Arizona, Texas and NM which they still refuse to acknowledge and it wasn't a treaty: It was a forced surrender under the guise of a "treaty". Besides, Latinos white washing themselves are the perfect example that they enjoy being exploited by the wealthy elite. They assume that by voting Republican and being "American" is "right" and "true". FOX news definitely brain washed them by making them think that "non-Americans" or immigrants are the problem. What irony right? Anyway, if you want to fight systemic racism or discrimination, at least know your history and acknowledge that Europeans did fuck up, but not as badly as what we have now: Americans discriminating against anything other than white/wealthy. But for the love of god, don't go around trying to convince people that you're native/mestizo when clearly it's a small part of you despite your European heritage!
@@melparker8689I don’t know who you’re on about. Many of us are proud of our Mestizaje! I was raised to embrace it. Especially if you are culturally speaking your language so, unless you fully understand and can walk in those shoes, I wouldn’t be boasting about how you are better than others who may have felt shame.
Majority of mestizos are mostly native. Why are you promoting the colonial identity of mestizo. It was used by Spanish to separate and divide natives up to this day.
@@flyinpug3791 some African Americans do have European and even native ancestry but in the United States the Anglos wanted to keep them segregated so they didn’t intermarry like what happened in Mexico or the rest of Latin America.
@@JuanCarlos-kr7tf most do have significant amounts of European blood. You don’t see them being called mestizos or mixed. It’s a racist word created by racist people. Go figure
This is not accurate. This "cast a system was specifically for *Mexico* . Similar terms were used in other Latin American colonies. However "mestizo" does *not* always mean exclusively "Native American " and European. Mestizo simply means "mixed". Countries that had not Native-Americans also had people called mestizo. For example Phillipinos and some African countries under Spains colonization had people referred to as "mestizo". Not to mention France and Portugal used the term in Africa to describe mixed raced people. The "Casta System" paintings created long after the fact. The painting was not official and is someone trying to simplify the Spainish social hierarchy. Another flaw in your presentation is the fact that many European Spainards were actually Black freemen. They were certainly higher on the social ladder than mulatos , mestizo, African slaves or Indios. Simply because those Blacks were born in Europe and were considered Spainards. Dont promote Mexican pro Brown racism.
Considering this was only a 8-9 minute video, I am sure you can see this was a very general overview. The casta system labels were not only exclusive to Mexico, yes I am aware the term "mestizo" did not always mean just mixed with native American, but that is the most widely used definition of the term. I used the paintings for visuals, why does it matter if they weren't official...it's not that deep. And as far as the ancestry of the Spanish, I know many were not full blooded whites, but they were not the main focus here, and doesn't change the fact they were still majority white. The focus of this video was ppl of indigenous and European ancestry, not black people. Promoting Mexican pro-brown racism?? Ummm lol you reading waaay too much into it. Its not that deep bro

You should file this under “Cultures of The Americas”. If you still don’t have a category for this, you should create one and start making more videos like this.
Argentine the MAJORITY are not white
Fernando Gonzalez it's Antonio Batista 😁
if they have curl hair then they are just brack
There is a different definition to the term in the dictionary as well
North Mexicans don't look different from South Mexicans. The ones who do look a little different are from Jalisco and some from Mexico City

If your genotype expression is more "European", that means you're more Castizo (75% Iberian/Southern European w/25% or less indigenous American) than mestizo: There's no such thing as a Mestizo with dominant European markers than Indian/indigenous. If you came up to me and told me you were "mestizo", I'd laugh at you maniacally because you don't even know your own roots!
Consider taking a DNA test to understand your markers and percentages and see where you are. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if you were just more European with at least
@@Luci_S okay sure I guess I am Castizo my point is I am not ashame or deny the small amount of indigenous DNA I have. Like a lot of Other Latinos are unfortunately. @@melparker8689
Here in the U.S., most anglos, at least now a days, desperately want to "inherit" or proclaim to have Native American ancestry.
Mestizo
