Rd burman and kishore - the greatest duo of all time.I am a hardcore PunkRock , Blues and Funk lover but still RD's music is perhaps the closest to my heart (not this song in specific) His versatality, his improvisation and a constant effort to create something unprecedented, to use new sounds and to embrace western genres along with his father's gharana style of music is pure genius and craftsmanship.I dont think any other present or past hindi music director has given as many hits as he has . Even the present directors like shankar ehsan loy , vishal shekhar, merchant and merchant , pritam ,anu malik they all look up to him. Its sad that music that has stood such a great test of time has ultimately seen its zenith and owing to the massive daily influx of new songs(both hindi and english) facilitated by the internet , the music has started to fade among the audience (not the music directors though) Also kishore da's bareitone and playfull soul-style singing with various sound effect improvs like yodelling etc have yet to be seen again. Almost all the present singers seem to sound the same , perhaps not to each other every time but definately try sound the same in all their songs (definately not the case with kishore da) I am a musician myaelf (drummer)And often find so many rockers out there who want to play his music as it is but that needs so many players (orchestra) that its not feasible in most cases. This i feel is why his style of music is fadin^from the industry ( earlier it used to be orchestras ,then bigswing bands, then jazz groups, then jazz quartets, then 4 member rock band , then 3 member hiphop bands and now 1 member edm artists- the easier the music is to play , more people will play it and it will stay in circulation, i wish rd music was easy enough but good things come at a price)
Right. Kishore ji had many variations in his songs. Each song was sung taking into consideration the actor, lyrics, mood, film situation, age of the hero etc. Other singers also had variations but their variations were aimed to show off their classical harkats and had nothing to do with the movie or lyrics or situation of the movie.
What humility! Another sign of greatness. RD's Harmonica has helped me win a Quiz too. I love to play the "Hai apna dil to awara..." song. The question posed was "What did RD do in the song?", and we got all the wierd answers like "he sang it" or even "he was on the train in the song". I knew that the mouthorgan bit of the song was rendered by RD even though the song was directed by SD Burman. I was just a few points short and this one helped me sail through.
WOW, THANKS FOR UPLOAD, Harmonica part in That old gem from 1958 film Solwa Saal,Hai apana dil to awara was played by S.D,`s young son Rahul, He was a star legend like his father, Never born never died,Just visited our country,We are lucky to have him.
:'"( Thanks a lot! I become speechless at the zest and enthusiasm that is RD. He is the quitessential artist with Lust For Life! The Van Gogh of Pop Music!
Laxmikant and Pyarelal acted as assistants to R.D. in his debut film Chote Nawab (1961) which is on record in the titles of this movie. Similarly, R.D. played harmonica in Dosti which is also acknowledged in the titles of Dosti.
In the film "Teri Kasam" (1982), RD Burman scored the music, and Laxmikant made a guest appearance as himself - a music composer - offering Kumar Gaurav's character a singing opportunity, and that song was "Dil ki baat kahin lab pe na aa jaaye"
RD, He was gifted. Its like 2 sides of long playing records. On one side we have, Bada Natkhat Hai, Piya Bawari, Raina Beeti Jaye, O mazi re, or do naino me ansoo bhare hai. On the other side we have dum maro dum , I love you, duniya me logon ko. Do we have music directors like RD now who can merge with anything that is melody, be it western or hindustani?
He rocks the world when there is no technology n all.. Imagine Agr ye Aaj ke daur me paida hue hote to may be sab musician ke dukan band krwa dete.. Awsome truly legend
Yes,Bombay being Gate way of India, there have been inflow of western and arabian tunes to inspire the Indian Music legends in creating tunes with base of befitting Indian Raagas (mostly Raag Bhairav, NatBhairavi and Keervaani), if not a copy directly! However they created their own stylish tunes typical of their own brands, which we even today enjoy!- Dr.G.RamNarayan, a singer of ShriV.Seetharamaiah's Musiano
Nicely put Arjun ... I compose melodies and have been inspired by many beautiful selection of composers around the world. Most of my favorite are from India's own "Naushad, Beethoven, Liszt,Cuban & Argentinian compositions and so on! Best wishes.
My friend, Shankar-Jaikishen also lifted tunes from arabic (Eg.in Halaku) and western music (Eg. Jhuk Gaya Aasman title song) like other music directors of their day such as C.Ramchandra , O.P Nayyar and R.D.Burman. The SJ song you are referring is from Yahudi (1958) and not from Dil Apne Aur Preet Parayi. It might have been copied from an arabic song. Hence this song also sounds like that.
Superb by Pancham da... Awesome...!! BUT... Guys does anything reminds you with the tune recently?? "Babli Badmaash hai" AnuMalik the maker of that song of Shootout in Wadala... Again a dhapofy by Anu Malik....
The man was a genius....his music still rocks..and will always rock.

Those were the days when they all co-existed in such a friendly manner
What a composer he was! Great man!

Thank you RDBRM720.
what a talent
This is song LAHRA KE AYA HAI , movie WARIS
Song RD is playing sounds like ' Lehrake Aaya hai' of Waris 1969.
It's the tune from the Film Waris (1969) ..the song is Leharake aya hain
I know but that might have been copied from Arabian Nights belly dance music which is older.
Srinivasan Channiga
'Raat se kaho ruke zara' of Lutera (1965) composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal also has the same flavor.
RD's music is still living with us probably that the biggest charisma.
Nicely put Arjun ... I compose melodies and have been inspired by many beautiful selection of composers around the world. Most of my favorite are from India's own "Naushad, Beethoven, Liszt,Cuban & Argentinian compositions and so on!

Dear Gupt63, this tune resembles 'Lehrake aya hai' of his own Waris(1969) closely.
