    I feel like we don't talk about the book Will Grayson, Will Grayson enough. You know that one book John wrote with David Leviathan (I don't know how to spell his last name but I do no how to spell the name of a horrifying demon that the spelling WAS close enough to... I've been watching to much supernatural.) THAT book is great and very gay and it's written beautifully AND WE NEVER TALK ABOUT IT.

      I loved that book! When I first read I was going through alot of shit with depression and anxiety and panic attacks and it meant so much to me!
      the way they wrote one Will's perspective in lower-case only was really fitting, i really liked that

      This seems to be a thing, because I know several other people who have this issue. And I must say that crossing the border by car got waaay more difficult and completely unfun once Trump became president. I was going to BC regularly before that and noticed a big difference in the experience. I'm fairly traumatized by my personal negative experience and it was benign by most standards (searched my car and delayed me for a seriously stupid amount of time & reason). Canadian Border Patrol is definitely where they keep the country's few jerks.

    The cover looks so cool. And good luck with the army of boxes that are invading.
    Also, John, since apparently I'm one of the first ones here and have an opportunity to say something important-- please stop worrying that the book won't be good or any other worry you have attached to it. At some points in your videos after TFIOS but before Turtles, you would talk about needing to top the success of TFIOS or whatever, and it would always annoy me because for me, TFIOS is good, but out of all your books, An Abundance of Katherines has always been my favorite. It's funny because that's the one everyone always jokes about, but I love that one so much because I connect with it. The fact that you're going to have another book out is a success and thank you so much for always saying important things that need to be said. You're awesome. Thanks for being you.

    Today at school my friends will ask me at school why I'm so tired. And I'll have to tell them that my sisters cat woke me up at 4:00 am and then I got on Pinterest and fell down a huge fandom hole ( you probably know the type) and then that eventually led to tfios fandoms and other fandoms of books written by john green and then that put me into the mood for watching vlogbfothers spiraling me into somewhat of a binge. so here I am at 6:00 am about to get ready for school wondering what I'm doing with my life but certainly not regretting it.

    I don't remember the last time I read a whole book in a day, and I'm pretty sure I haven't finished a book I was reading for pleasure in about 4 years (and that one was Will Grayson, Will Grayson during my senior year of high school.) I've been in college since the fall of 2016 and found it difficult to find the time or the motivation to get through an entire book for fun. That said, I bought Turtles all the Way Down this morning and finished it less than an hour ago and I'm incredibly pleased with how well it depicts mental health issues and thought spirals as a person who struggles with some anxiety issues. Thank you for writing it, John.

      Organizing tours are easier in places where the organizer speaks the same language as is spoken in the location. That's the easiest explanation. Others involve thousands of laws within each country that discuss payment or performers , who can perform and when and where they can perform and how all of that relates to the politics between the two countries at the time. Plus the travel is more expensive and the genuine question of if they would make all their money back with all the fees that come with performing in a foreign country. For reasons documented and undocumented there is a "special relationship" between UK and America that makes it much easier for Americans to go to and perform in the UK than anywhere else in Europe.
      Any creator wants to see their fans no matter where their fans are the problem is that it's intensely difficult to perform outside of one's own country.

      John has issues every time he crosses the border to Canada thanks to a misadventure into Canada in his younger days. We're probably not going to see him in Canada because of this.

    This is my all time favorite book mainly because of its accurate portrayal of OCD and anxiety. Both of which I am suffering through. It’s extremely emotional and, what I think is, the closest someone without a mental disorder can get to understanding how it actually feels to have a mental disorder. Thank you for writing this book, it has helped me know I am not alone.

    200000 ÷ 16000 = 12.5, 12.5 x 32 = 400 ÷ 24 = 16.6666. John does that mean you spent around 16 days worth of time signing books? o_O

    I will be studying abroad this fall, so it will be the first birthday without my family and most importantly my twin brother around. Which is a pretty strange feeling and kind of scary. When I heard that your new book comes out the day before my birthday, I actually felt so much better about the whole experience. Because now I know I'll just go to a book store and buy myself a copy of Turtles All the Way Down for my birthday and feel less alone while reading it. I'm so excited and sure you've written an amazing story yet again. :)

      @vlogbrothers  6 років тому +19

      The paperback will probably come out sometime in 2018. I don't have a ton of say in how that unfolds, but usually paperbacks are published about a year after the hardcover. (Sorry it won't be sooner!) -John

      So hardback books cost more to make, but they also have a wider profit margin when they sell on the shelves. It is common practice to sell hardback books first and then sell paperbacks when sales slow a bit. This business practice is also very smart for a book like Turtles All the Way Down because John is guaranteed to sell a WHOLE bunch of books before sales slow enough to justify making paperbacks for less profit.

    why is everything always "USA ONLY" this triggers me by now xD

    • @Luke-lw9dg
      @Luke-lw9dg 6 років тому +7

      Because John and Hank are American and they need something to prove it's still the best country in the world after the horrible events of 11-9.

      The USA has 320 million people all nestled in one nation which has open borders everywhere within it. sort of makes that easier then even the EU to get around. Cause even the language stays the same within the nation.

    • @Bluey306
      @Bluey306 6 років тому +13

      i don't live in america and i'm getting sick of these kinds of comments lol
      let them be; a lot of US publishers do this with their authors, but there's such an overwhelming complaint over john green doing "USA only" sales only because you have the privilege of having the immediacy of communicative platforms (i.e. youtube)
      you can still get signed copies on other book-selling platforms, there is no need for this short-sighted entitlement.

    • @Summertail
      @Summertail 6 років тому +6

      I hate reading this kind of comment they are just awful. No part of this was to prove the U.S.A is the best. It's likely cheaper to stay in the continental U.S.A, And like speedy01247 said "The USA has 320 million people all nestled in one nation which has open borders everywhere within it."
      Also I rarely if ever think about the U.S. as not as good of a country because of something that happened that they could not control. Also like brewcha said "you can still get signed copies on other book-selling platforms, there is no need for this short-sighted entitlement."
