Queen Victoria's Longest-Lived Grandchildren
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 чер 2024
- The grandchildren of Queen Victoria went on to make dynastic marriages across the royal houses of Europe. Through this Victoria gained herself the nickname “Grandmother of Europe”. Although her reign is mostly associated with the 19th century a great number of her grandchildren saw the second half of the 20th century.

The long corridor, Windsor Castle.
Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone lived to be almost 100.
She passed just months before Charles and Diana's wedding
We know that you don't have to tell us
@@harribocaplays7136 no need to be rude about it!
@@mikeconnolly6845 I'm not trying to be rude I'm just saying we know.
@@harribocaplays7136 No prob. It was for the few who didn't know.
I was just giving massive respect to a true lady.
It could be worth mentioning, that Charles Edward is the maternal grandfather of king Carl 16th Gustav of Sweden. And, talking about king Carl 16th Gustav of Sweden, Patricia's sister Margaret is his paternal grandmother - and Patricia's sister Margaret is also maternal grandmother of queen Margrethe 2nd of Denmark.
Well stated
10:54 That is Princess Beatrice of the United Kingdom not Princess Beatrice of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. 11:26 Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg was not the youngest grandchild but the youngest granddaughter as she had younger brothers.
Good to see them in order.
Queen Victoria became Queen in 1837 not 1838.
She became queen in 1837, crowned 1838z
@@stephaniex90 yes , she ascended the throne in 1837 not 1838 as stated in this clip. The coronation may be 1838 but that’s NOT when she ascended.
Hence her golden jubilee in 1887 and diamond jubilee in 1897
The last pic of Pr Beatrice is of her aunt, Princess Beatrice, daughter of Q Victoria.
I see a strong resemblance between Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine and King Charles.
She is a grandmother or great grandmother of Prince Philip
@@missstgermainify She's the grandmother of Prince Philip. She's the mother of Princess Alice of Battenberg.
All these marriages between cousins!!!
It seems the goal at the time was to keep the Royal Dynasties intact. I suppose there was a limited number of people who were Royal candidates for marriage, so it was, "Yo, cuz, let's get hitched!" 😂
There is a very nice photo of Princess Victoria at King Charles’ christening. She is sitting next to Queen Elizabeth. I believe there are 5 generations in that photo.
It’s not, the photo is queen Mary king George vi queen Elizabeth(princess at the time) and Charles
@@jshipp5469 I beg to differ. If you google King Charles’ christening one of the photos shows Princess Elizabeth holding King Charles and sitting between Queen Mary and Princess Victoria.
@@bethhandzel Victoria died in 1901…..but ok
@@jshipp5469 PRINCESS Victoria, granddaughter of Queen Victoria and daughter of Princess Alice, passed away in September 1950. I’ve been trying to copy the picture but it won’t work.
@@bethhandzel my mistake I thought u said queen Victoria
in bred
Nice video 😊
Thanks!
Did the se say Princess Alice was the grandma of Queen Elizabeth and King Gustave? Or did she say grand Aunt?
I love Queen Victoria’s royal lineage a lot and she spoke German because her royal husband and mother were born in Germany ❤🇩🇪🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
In 13:38 the Princess Patricia stood out in the wedding pic. Can anyone tell me why the bride posture is different from everybody? Maybe it is a cut and paste pic?
Very interesting 🇬🇧
Victoria of Hesse was also a haemophilia carrier..her great great grandson Felix has the disease. Mossy had 2 sets of twins. One of the twins Christoph was allegedly responsible for bombing Buckingham Palace in WW2 I think you mixed up Beatrice of Edinburgh with Beatrice Battenberg. Ena had 7 children..baby Fernando died soon after birth because of haemophilia.
Queen Victoria was beautiful
Queen Victoria was a striking pretty young lady of her time.
@dixiepeach8698: She did not age very well.
Beatriz de Sajonia Coburgo fue prima de Victoria Eugenia de Battemberg y se casó con Alfonso de Orleans Borbón que era primo de Alfonso XIII.
10:44 - that should be "Catholicism", not "ca-tho-lism".
@roweng.4245: How ‘bout we call ‘em “Papists” and be done with it. Then we can focus on something important like the pronunciation of “tomato” and “potato”. Or better, let’s call the whole thing off!
Peace
