Chairman: Our 10k per year merchandise sales are good enough. And our half a star reputation is enough to draw top players! Now go out there and win us the league and the cup or you are fired.
Meanwhile at my club fighting relegation: Me: If we use a senior affiliate, we can get some free loans Chairman: But I don't want the club to rely on loans Me: The loans could be very useful for trying to stay up this season Chairman: We'll do well enough without (Easily the worst team in the league) Me: Well a senior affiliate could grant us some extra income Chairman: We might be £400k in debt, but we don't really need the money
If your club has a one star or half a star reputation, a commercial link won't help. No one will buy your jerseys until you win. The board is just looking out for you actually, and not letting you waste your $$$$.
Im with Kaiserslautern who have a deal with a team in the Belgian First division where any player from each club can move freely between the 2 clubs... when I found this out I completely raided their u18's, u21's and first team for any player with current or potential talent. One specific guy has scored 23 goals in 17 league games so far... I got him FOR FREE. No negotiation. Just a contract. I also just gave them any players who wont leave on a fee, and who's contract I dont want to pay.

I really think the Youth Rating for the nations should be dynamic. I mean if a nation wins the World Cup like 5 times etc or its teams are becoming more successful, it should be able at least improve the rating by a bit. I want to see different nations produce better players after spending like 30-40 seasons.
I have stopped playing this game for now. The game is really poor, like reaaaly poor, i'm praying to the FM Gods that someone else will start to make a similar game, to give them some competition cuz as things stand right now they are just ripping us of money every year, all those changes can be introduced in a patch file.

Logically they should've been under my radar when they were young, so random things do happen.. I also saw a Vietnamese world-class player, and few years ago Colombia produced more world-class players than Brazil...

8:49 From my experience the player doesn't have to go to the affiliated club. They can choose where to go. The affiliate link just makes it so any bid price that was accepted for a player will automatically be accepted by a senior affiliate. They player can still choose where to go.
honestly i was super salted about losing some games and wanted to stop got some inspiration from the channel and played "I believe i can fly" and just got back to it......went to and lost to liverpool 1-0 gave up 56 shots and 23 on goal and i couldn't be prouder of my burnley squad honestly...had an away against man city after and lost 2-1 we had the lead early and lost it just before half and the comeback was completed against us in the 83rd minute and i couldn't be prouder lol this channel has the answers people....its about the journey not the results
One thing that I didn’t see you talk much about in the youth video is that the more your Head of Youth Development knows about the world the more players he will bring with him from those countries each year for youth intakes
I'd like this to be expanded so you could have more a group structure, a la City Football Group, where you can have affiliate clubs across the world but you have more of a say as the senior club on playing style, incorporating loans, tactics and youth development etc. so you have more control over pathways. Bit frustrating if you want to develop young talent on loan and the affiliate club just doesn't fit the ethos, changes managers or refuses to play the loanees.
I manage Portsmouth and am in my 8th season (currently top 6 PL club) so my board have full confidence, but when I asked for an affiliate for work permits they let me pick one and then kept saying they were unable to make the link. I decided to choose an affiliate for foreign youngsters instead and then just pick a spanish club for the permits and that seemed to work (apart from the club I chose being relegated shortly after 🙄). My latest affiliate is Defensor Sporting from Uruguay which I'm excited about as they have exceptional youth recruitment and are apparently one of the best in the game for young newgens so hopefully that improves my youth intake. Right now my best youth prospects are Spanish league players I go out and buy manually. Have a 5* potential CB and Striker I bought for 60k & 800k respectively because they had low release clauses, they are worth 3m and 9m now at age 17 and progressing really well. Uruguay has a lower youth rating (90) than England (120). I don't think club facilities get taken into account when it comes to intake from an affiliate.
I had top facilities, everything on 20 plus a Youth manager with model citizen personality and I was getting nothing in the youth intake year after year. So I made 3 Youth partnerships and now every year I get at least 2 players with 4 stars potential. It really increases the intake itself and the probability of getting good players from it.

I have a save with Brøndby, a danish team, and got Zilina as a affiliate club in first attempt. Zilina has exceptional youth recruitment, so I was kind of excited, looking forward to a have a great foreigner in my youth intake next season. Well... The situation was, to my amazement, kind of set in reverse. Zilina had my best youth intake, Jacob Jensen, a right winger with great international potential. This boy was born i Helnæs in Denmark, I could see under his information. Helnæs is in the countryside of Denmark (like every city apart from Copenhagen LOL), so it was no coincidence he started his career in Zilina, and not in my club, Brøndby - the only connection between Denmark and Zilina in my save, is through my club; Brøndby. What I need to know is, who's fault is this? Is it my fault? Is it the specifik regen who individually decides where to start his career? Now I'm in the third season and have not been getting a single regen from Zilina, but at least I only lost Jacob Jensen, whom I bought back right away for 4 mill danish kroner (wich is nooot so much :) I don't want to lose all of my best youth intake once in a while, and get absolutely nothing in return, while actually paying a relatively lot of money for this cirkus of nonsence. Please help! Edit; And nooo! Zilina did NOT have a bigger reputation than my club. They did NOT win their league, they did NOT participate ind Champions League, while my team DID, so there was NO realistic reasons AT ALL for Jacob Jensen to start his career in the junior-affiliate-club.
I had a senior club which shared their training facilities with me. The only bad thing with this is that you cannot ask for upgrading yours once you have this affiliate. Trust mwe been there.
One slight correction, first option to buy only means that a club cannot refuse a bid from the affiliate club that matches one they have already accepted from another club. It does NOT mean the player in then under obligation to sign for the affiliate club. It is still up to the player to decide where, if anywhere, he wants to go.
mate, I love your videos, but just wanted to say that Poland joined EU back in 2004 ;) If someone wants to affiliate Polish clubs for work permits, it takes 3 years for a given player to be able to request citizenship. I think there might be better countries for this that only take 2 years
Hi i dont know if you know this, made an experiment on my pc and found out that arround 95% of the regen players that have over 150 Potential ability come all from your save playable leagues, no matter how good a nation is, if is not on playable, is not going to produce that much

But I was wondering how much you take staff personality and working with youngsters into consideration when picking staff. For example I’ve heard that fitness coaches play role in player personality development so I try to hire model citizens. Would you consider making a video comparing staff candidates and why you would chose one over the other and also address working with youngsters and staff personality. Hey zealand, when you loan out your players and the loanee club agrees to pay wages in full, who pays for appearance fees and goal bonuses? Do those even kick in for loaned players?
Anyone managing a big club in Europe I’d recommend trying to get a youth affiliate with SM Caen, did a save with them and every youth intake was a golden generation! They’ve also already got some pretty awesome youth players at the start of the game
When I got the Notts Forest job in FM19 last year after a couple of years in lower league management SM Caen were one of the clubs I found quite a few bonny little newgens at - made sure I checked them out every season to see who the next star youth player coming through was. I've actually forgot about them this year and that's a great shout, cheers for reminding me about them.

I'm a very small club in my Italian save (Turris Santa croce), and when I tried to get a senior affiliate club when I reached Serie C I couldn't find anyone. I did find a junior one, but it's not that useful when I have no money. does getting a senior club have to do with reputation as well?
Mfw the board managed to affiliate my Portuguese 2nd division team to a bundesliga team and get a neat 50k a year from it, all so they can get first pick of any of my outgoing transfers. Good video! I thought the options were stackable, so I got my board to approve us having first rights to the affiliates players. Then found out that when that was approved I could no longer use the affiliate to send players on loan. :( My youth intake affiliate in Chile has yet to provide me with anything of note, and I pay them 200k a year.
Check out his FM Academy videos if you're a new player, and he has repeatedly said that the best clubs to manage when you start are big teams in small leagues. (Celtic, Slavia Prague, Salzburg etc.)
FM predicted many things, but Serbia won't be in EU in million years :) it's nice to have affiliated clubs, but FM really needs to work on youth intake. It's impossible to get a good player with Dinamo Zagreb, and they produced so many top-notch players over the years. But if you reload youth intake day 100 times, there's a chance to get 1-2 solid players.
i thought when you have the Option to match a deal the Player has a word to say in it if he wants to go to your club, or to the other one. The selling club have only to accept the offer.
I’m doing a save with lokamotiva in Croatia and have a affiliate with dinamo in the same league and one of the bullet points is we share a board. Does this make much difference?
it is because in real life dinamo and lokomotiva are practically the same team and they shouldn't be allowed in same league. they even had same email until couple of years ago. for dinamo it was dinamo@dinamo.hr and for lokomotiva it was lokomotiva@dinamo.hr. problem is that croatian football association is corrupt and leading people in croatian fa are friends, bussiness partners and even same people that ran dinamo. and lot of politics are involved. the guy that made it all happen with his corrupt ways is called zdravko mamić, he ranaway out of croatia to bosnia because he lost on trial and it was proven that he stole millions from dinamo and croatian citizens, but he still has a lot of political power in croatia and is still main figure in dinamo and croatian football. (croatia is actually a banana state with lot of corruption) but all of that rant is not point of my comment. point is that same boards in those two clubs is very realistic and fm recognised that although in real life they say that they are different clubs and they have different boards, and if it was real life it should help you a lot. not shure if it helps in fm but it should. sorry for long post, my bad english and this rant, but i am a fan of dinamo's biggest rivals hajduk and i am a bit frustrated by whole situation and because hajduk sucks for last 15 years and plays really bad. I've gotten a chinese born, german declared wonder kid who I assume we got bc our affiliate helped us recruit him, broke into the first team at dortmund in 2 or so years, so it does work some times

I'm doing a National League to Premier League climb with Barnet FC. I got a great senior affiliate deal with Man City where they give me 104k a year, arrange a friendly each year where I keep all gate receipts and all my loan offers are accepted for youth players. Yet no one will join me when I offer the loan. I'm in the Championship and the players I want/need have a bid accepted by City but refuse to go. Then piss off to the US or Aus on a permanent deal. Anyone else have similar issues?
When you get a bigger club deal with, say, man city, it doesnt guarantee that every loan listed player will sign for you. The club accepting a loan offer and the player agreeing to come are two different things; players can and still will make decisions based on your reputation and league standing. Get a team report of each of the senior affiliate squads (main, u21, u19 etc) and it will show you in your scouting centre which players are interested in signing for you on loan.
@@Roscododger Weird thing is there were a few players who had good interest in coming here. Offered Star Player playing time in the Championship but then decide to go play for Dallas for 6 months. Just doesn't make sense to me. I'm sure reputation plays a role but surely guaranteed game time at a higher level against better opposition would bring players to me.

Zealand would you recommend only choosing affiliate clubs from leagues that are loaded into you game or can it also be useful to have an affiliate from a country that is not loaded into the game?
For commercial value, you can use unleaded leagues with little difference to whether its loaded or not. But with things like youth intake, clubs at leagues which aren't loaded in usually have a very very low amount of players coming through. So only really do either ones to increase profile, or ones where you arrange a friendly.

So I know I’m quite late to the video lol, but I got 2 affiliate clubs where I can loan my players out. But when I go to the player and click the button “move to affiliate” the loan is automatically put to a 3 month loan, however I want this to be a 1 year/season loan, does anybody know how to fix/change this?
I've been trying to get a foreign affiliate to increase reputation and the board always say no am lokomotiva in croatia 5 seasons in biggest team in league 17th in coefficients so I've done ok in Europe
I always used affiliates but have had a nightmare with my last two saves. I've managed my home town who are in the lower tiers of the northern irish league. Not matter what they never get a senior affiliate no matter how much you get the board to try find one. On the flip side you can be a senior affiliate once you get promoted which is still useless to me as it costs money and player regens are poor and unpredictable across the board. I just wanted rep and cash boosts dammit. Not clubs that I was on the same tier as when I started :(
Academies are pretty much useless in the game I think. Because unique divisions seem to have a hidden attribute that has a major impact on regen quality, academies should only produce rubbish players because they're in a very low division or have no division at all, not to mention they are usually semi-pro or amateur. They're not even good for loaning in or out. They might produce decent regens occasionally, simply because of their high youth recruitment stat, but then you can just sign them without affiliation anyway. Would be interesting to test if the affiliate club's facilities effect the quality of the affiliate intake player, but I think only the nation youth rating is what goes into it.
(Sorry if my english's not good,just a french guy passing by) .My current experience with affiliations to improve youth intake is actually terrible. I always play in France with already good youth developping clubs such as Rennes,Le Havre or Sochaux and in each save, the best newgens i get come during the firsts seasons when i dont i have developped yet my affiliations (I only have the default affiliations with useless non-league clubs) . Once i make youth affiliations , only poor newgens come to my club, even thought i improved my reputation (i became the first club in the world in term of reputation with Rennes), my youth structures and youth headtrainer . So my question is, am I extremely unlucky or getting affiliations with clubs with lower national youth rating and lower structures than your club one's actually make worse your youth intake ? It seems it's decreasing the probabilty getting great French player by replacing them by worse foreign players coming from countries with worse Youth Rating ! This is my impression, there is no other reason to me that i always get better newgens at the beggining of my save. Hope my message's understandable, i'm really searching for answers x) .
Have you tried asking the board to improve your youth facilities and increase youth recruitment/coaching investment? I'm not sure why it's better in the first season though.
Only Italy, Germany and Brazil have better youth rating than France and it's marginal. I used France for a lot of testing and I think from memory I found that youth intake quality progressively declined across the board as the years went on. My theory on this is that at the beginning top French clubs are already loaded up on youth players, so they only take say 6 each out of the national regen PA 'pool'. But then in subsequent years they'll bring in say 12, so that national pool of PA will be diluted for teams big and small.

@@BreizhKenobi35 Yes, I've measured it with FC Bayern. Their American club affiliate often produces an American player or two, who are always significantly below the median PA. It will only effect these foreign players. You may also be interested to know that your club reputation has no effect on PA and about ~10% effect (minor) on CA, and national reputation or success makes no difference.

2021 is the first fm I've played since 2007,I used to control a main team then control 2 affiliates and send my youth players there and manage them also ,sadly on x box cant manage more than 1 team and always start off without affiliates

Well... The situation was, to my amazement, kind of set in reverse. Zilina had my best youth intake, Jacob Jensen, a right winger with great international potential. This boy was born i Helnæs in Denmark, I could see under his information. Helnæs is in the countryside of Denmark (like every city apart from Copenhagen LOL), so it was no coincidence he started his career in Zilina, and not in my club, Brøndby - the only connection between Denmark and Zilina in my save, is through my club; Brøndby. What I need to know is, who's fault is this? Is it my fault? Is it the specifik regen who individually decides where to start his career? Now I'm in the third season and have not been getting a single regen from Zilina, but at least I only lost Jacob Jensen, whom I bought back right away for 4 mill danish kroner (wich is nooot so much :)
I don't want to lose all of my best youth intake once in a while, and get absolutely nothing in return, while actually paying a relatively lot of money for this cirkus of nonsence.

Edit; And nooo! Zilina did NOT have a bigger reputation than my club. They did NOT win their league, they did NOT participate ind Champions League, while my team DID, so there was NO realistic reasons AT ALL for Jacob Jensen to start his career in the junior-affiliate-club.
I had a senior club which shared their training facilities with me. The only bad thing with this is that you cannot ask for upgrading yours once you have this affiliate. Trust mwe been there.
Fun fact: this was already the case for FM2012, like I haven't played the game since then, but it didn't feel foreign at all...

One slight correction, first option to buy only means that a club cannot refuse a bid from the affiliate club that matches one they have already accepted from another club. It does NOT mean the player in then under obligation to sign for the affiliate club. It is still up to the player to decide where, if anywhere, he wants to go.

If someone wants to affiliate Polish clubs for work permits, it takes 3 years for a given player to be able to request citizenship. I think there might be better countries for this that only take 2 years

Hi i dont know if you know this, made an experiment on my pc and found out that arround 95% of the regen players that have over 150 Potential ability come all from your save playable leagues, no matter how good a nation is, if is not on playable, is not going to produce that much

You need to go into the Editor (if you dont have it it's like £4 or something) and look at the youth rating there.
there is an editor witch you have bought with the game you can install it on steam. Zealand has a Video on it where to find, how to download and how to use it to find out witch rating every country has.

Anyone managing a big club in Europe I’d recommend trying to get a youth affiliate with SM Caen, did a save with them and every youth intake was a golden generation! They’ve also already got some pretty awesome youth players at the start of the game
When I got the Notts Forest job in FM19 last year after a couple of years in lower league management SM Caen were one of the clubs I found quite a few bonny little newgens at - made sure I checked them out every season to see who the next star youth player coming through was. I've actually forgot about them this year and that's a great shout, cheers for reminding me about them.

I had a senior affiliate club when I was in the 2.Bundesliga, however they would not loan me anyone for free, they would always ask for wages and sometimes for a monthly fee
I'm a very small club in my Italian save (Turris Santa croce), and when I tried to get a senior affiliate club when I reached Serie C I couldn't find anyone. I did find a junior one, but it's not that useful when I have no money. does getting a senior club have to do with reputation as well?

I thought the options were stackable, so I got my board to approve us having first rights to the affiliates players. Then found out that when that was approved I could no longer use the affiliate to send players on loan. :(
My youth intake affiliate in Chile has yet to provide me with anything of note, and I pay them 200k a year.

Check out his FM Academy videos if you're a new player, and he has repeatedly said that the best clubs to manage when you start are big teams in small leagues. (Celtic, Slavia Prague, Salzburg etc.)

FM predicted many things, but Serbia won't be in EU in million years :) it's nice to have affiliated clubs, but FM really needs to work on youth intake. It's impossible to get a good player with Dinamo Zagreb, and they produced so many top-notch players over the years. But if you reload youth intake day 100 times, there's a chance to get 1-2 solid players.
i thought when you have the Option to match a deal the Player has a word to say in it if he wants to go to your club, or to the other one. The selling club have only to accept the offer.

I’m doing a save with lokamotiva in Croatia and have a affiliate with dinamo in the same league and one of the bullet points is we share a board. Does this make much difference?
it is because in real life dinamo and lokomotiva are practically the same team and they shouldn't be allowed in same league.
they even had same email until couple of years ago. for dinamo it was dinamo@dinamo.hr and for lokomotiva it was lokomotiva@dinamo.hr.
problem is that croatian football association is corrupt and leading people in croatian fa are friends, bussiness partners and even same people that ran dinamo.
and lot of politics are involved.
the guy that made it all happen with his corrupt ways is called zdravko mamić, he ranaway out of croatia to bosnia because he lost on trial and it was proven that he stole millions from dinamo and croatian citizens, but he still has a lot of political power in croatia and is still main figure in dinamo and croatian football. (croatia is actually a banana state with lot of corruption)
but all of that rant is not point of my comment. point is that same boards in those two clubs is very realistic and fm recognised that although in real life they say that they are different clubs and they have different boards, and if it was real life it should help you a lot. not shure if it helps in fm but it should.
sorry for long post, my bad english and this rant, but i am a fan of dinamo's biggest rivals hajduk and i am a bit frustrated by whole situation and because hajduk sucks for last 15 years and plays really bad.

That's good and all, but how the heck do you extend a loanee if he's on say, a poland feeder club awaiting to get EU citizenship there? if he gets back to my team at some point, it's over! is this even adressed? I haven't bought any brazilians in fm20 given this.

I'm doing a National League to Premier League climb with Barnet FC. I got a great senior affiliate deal with Man City where they give me 104k a year, arrange a friendly each year where I keep all gate receipts and all my loan offers are accepted for youth players. Yet no one will join me when I offer the loan. I'm in the Championship and the players I want/need have a bid accepted by City but refuse to go. Then piss off to the US or Aus on a permanent deal.

Look for players at City who are at least 'slightly interested' in a loan move. I don't see a reason why they would reject a move if they are.
When you get a bigger club deal with, say, man city, it doesnt guarantee that every loan listed player will sign for you. The club accepting a loan offer and the player agreeing to come are two different things; players can and still will make decisions based on your reputation and league standing. Get a team report of each of the senior affiliate squads (main, u21, u19 etc) and it will show you in your scouting centre which players are interested in signing for you on loan.
@@Roscododger Weird thing is there were a few players who had good interest in coming here. Offered Star Player playing time in the Championship but then decide to go play for Dallas for 6 months. Just doesn't make sense to me. I'm sure reputation plays a role but surely guaranteed game time at a higher level against better opposition would bring players to me.

Zealand would you recommend only choosing affiliate clubs from leagues that are loaded into you game or can it also be useful to have an affiliate from a country that is not loaded into the game?
For commercial value, you can use unleaded leagues with little difference to whether its loaded or not. But with things like youth intake, clubs at leagues which aren't loaded in usually have a very very low amount of players coming through. So only really do either ones to increase profile, or ones where you arrange a friendly.

But when I go to the player and click the button “move to affiliate” the loan is automatically put to a 3 month loan, however I want this to be a 1 year/season loan, does anybody know how to fix/change this?

I always used affiliates but have had a nightmare with my last two saves. I've managed my home town who are in the lower tiers of the northern irish league. Not matter what they never get a senior affiliate no matter how much you get the board to try find one. On the flip side you can be a senior affiliate once you get promoted which is still useless to me as it costs money and player regens are poor and unpredictable across the board. I just wanted rep and cash boosts dammit. Not clubs that I was on the same tier as when I started :(

Is it possible to affiliate some of the academies in the game? Like Clairefontaine?
Academies are pretty much useless in the game I think. Because unique divisions seem to have a hidden attribute that has a major impact on regen quality, academies should only produce rubbish players because they're in a very low division or have no division at all, not to mention they are usually semi-pro or amateur. They're not even good for loaning in or out. They might produce decent regens occasionally, simply because of their high youth recruitment stat, but then you can just sign them without affiliation anyway. Would be interesting to test if the affiliate club's facilities effect the quality of the affiliate intake player, but I think only the nation youth rating is what goes into it.
Anyone have problems where when you get an affiliate the club just goes downhill massively.

How do i get a big club as an affiliate in Fm20
(Sorry if my english's not good,just a french guy passing by) .My current experience with affiliations to improve youth intake is actually terrible. I always play in France with already good youth developping clubs such as Rennes,Le Havre or Sochaux and in each save, the best newgens i get come during the firsts seasons when i dont i have developped yet my affiliations (I only have the default affiliations with useless non-league clubs) . Once i make youth affiliations , only poor newgens come to my club, even thought i improved my reputation (i became the first club in the world in term of reputation with Rennes), my youth structures and youth headtrainer . So my question is, am I extremely unlucky or getting affiliations with clubs with lower national youth rating and lower structures than your club one's actually make worse your youth intake ? It seems it's decreasing the probabilty getting great French player by replacing them by worse foreign players coming from countries with worse Youth Rating ! This is my impression, there is no other reason to me that i always get better newgens at the beggining of my save. Hope my message's understandable, i'm really searching for answers x) .
Have you tried asking the board to improve your youth facilities and increase youth recruitment/coaching investment? I'm not sure why it's better in the first season though.

Only Italy, Germany and Brazil have better youth rating than France and it's marginal. I used France for a lot of testing and I think from memory I found that youth intake quality progressively declined across the board as the years went on. My theory on this is that at the beginning top French clubs are already loaded up on youth players, so they only take say 6 each out of the national regen PA 'pool'. But then in subsequent years they'll bring in say 12, so that national pool of PA will be diluted for teams big and small.

@@BreizhKenobi35 Yes, I've measured it with FC Bayern. Their American club affiliate often produces an American player or two, who are always significantly below the median PA. It will only effect these foreign players. You may also be interested to know that your club reputation has no effect on PA and about ~10% effect (minor) on CA, and national reputation or success makes no difference.

Forget covid ,for me 2020/2021 will always be remembered as the time I discovered Zealand and Harry Mack ,both have helped me through 2 lockdowns
2021 is the first fm I've played since 2007,I used to control a main team then control 2 affiliates and send my youth players there and manage them also ,sadly on x box cant manage more than 1 team and always start off without affiliates
