      Very well done and explained, my friend! This played a huge part in my own setup upgrade, which is in progress now...without breaking the bank.

      @@mattjaworski-cwcscleagueco395 I went about an inch in between stitches figuring a golf ball is about 1.7' so as long as I'm comfortably under that number, it will hopefully be safe. Obviously the tighter you stitch, the safer it will be, but the more time it will take! 😊

    • @muskratlinksgolf
      @muskratlinksgolf  Рік тому +5

      Yep, certainly can be done! So I searched for some flexible curtain tracks on Amazon and screwed them into studs in the ceiling. Then I hooked 2-3 of the little track runners together through each grommet of the tarps with zip ties, this allows me to slide both sides and the "roof" of my cage back and forth out from the wall of the garage. The roof is tensioned by pulling it out away from the impact screen and looping the ends over some additional eye hooks with bungees as you saw in the video. Thanks for checking it out!

    This is an excellent video. Will be saving it for when I build one in the next couple years. One question, I’m a lefty, basically everyone else I play with is a righty, would I be able to play a round with my right handed friends? I imagine all I’d need to do is walk the monitor to the other side of the mat but don’t know how it works

    • @muskratlinksgolf
      @muskratlinksgolf  Рік тому +1

      Thank you! It wouldn't really work out during the same round as you need to change settings on the SkyTrak and realign it each time you needed to swap sides. This is an opinion, but you could probably play a full round lefty, swap everything over, then have your righty friends play their round. Otherwise the other option at this price point is the Mevo+ which is Doppler based and sits behind your hitting area. Much friendlier to a mix of lefties and righties!

    • @muskratlinksgolf
      @muskratlinksgolf  5 місяців тому

      Depends on if you are using a fixed overhead LM or something that you physically adjust based on the user, then if you want everyone hitting from the same spot. Generally speaking you are going to need about another 6' of width to accommodate swings from both sides of a central position, but make sure you research on the golf simulator forums to see what people using your chosen LM are building! • @muskratlinksgolf
      @muskratlinksgolf  Рік тому

      Thank you! I went with some Flexible Curtain Tracks off of Amazon, I would still recommend doubling or tripling up the little rollers it comes with to spread the weight of the mesh. My opinion on the Mevo's putting is based on research, not experience. You need to take significantly more time and resources to ensure you have a perfectly smooth putting area for it to have a chance at getting reliable readings. Combine this with the fact that most garages slope away from the house for drainage, and it was always going to be a better bet for me to go with a SkyTrak!

    • @muskratlinksgolf
      @muskratlinksgolf  Рік тому

      Yep, good question! The best resource for this will be the Projector Central website throw distance calculator. If you have the budget, many configurations will use an ultra short throw projector mounted on the floor or on the ceiling close to the impact screen with a protective cage. My IN119HDx is mounted at just over 13' which is a few feet behind where I stand. Safely out of the way of any swing path, but close enough that shadows aren't an issue at all from either the golfer or the ceiling of the cage.

    You said you’re using a 9’ x 9’ impact screen? What aspect ratio is your projector set to? It looks pretty good and the whole aspect ratio thing is stumping me. I don’t have quite the space for a 9x9 it’ll be closer to 8x8, just trying to figure out the projector and what the image will look like.

    • @muskratlinksgolf
      @muskratlinksgolf  Рік тому

      I've used it in both 4:3 and 16:9. I currently use 16:9 because it is easier to record for UA-cam. The extra black/unused space at the top and bottom of the impact screen doesn't bother me at all. It will certainly bother some people, especially in more of a cinema room style build.

    • @muskratlinksgolf
      @muskratlinksgolf  Рік тому

      The Shot Analysis is from TGC 2019. The basic way it works in that TGC 2019 takes the data from the SkyTrak then applies its own flight model to it. So a shot hit with the exact same parameters on the SkyTrak Range will be slightly different than on the TGC 2019 Range. They are extraordinarily similar, but worth noting that TGC 2019 does use its own flight model even though the data itself is just being pulled from the SkyTrak.

    Since you are setup more towards the right of the screen, does this skew shot direction? Or does the sky track read the real shot data as it’s hit and correlates to an on track ball flight even though you are on the right side of the screen?

    • @muskratlinksgolf
      @muskratlinksgolf  7 місяців тому +1

      Correct, the SkyTrak only cares where you are hitting in relation to its own alignment. They also have a feature where you can shift the driving range visually off center as well to help combat the "feeling" of aiming into the center of the screen. TGC 2019 also has that same feature, I don't use it for most of my recordings though, I just Hit it at straight at the right side of the screen. Good question!

    I'm getting closer. I have one mesh tarp up.... Woo hoo. Did you use three flexible tracks? Are they right angles or are do you have them kinda rounded off? Also, did you hang the 10' side or the 12' side. I have it hung on the 12' side and there's about 2" open at the bottom. If I switch it and hang the 12' side down I have a puddle of mesh at the bottom which I guess is ok

      I went with 2 flexible tracks, but cut 1/3rd off of each track to use as the 3rd side. As a result I didn't round off the tracks, just ran the two sides perpendicular to the back. I used the "puddle of mesh" tactic as it is dramatically safer and the mesh can be tucked under the foam time floor in my design. Great comment and good luck!

    • @muskratlinksgolf
      @muskratlinksgolf  Рік тому

      They are the 10'x12' weather resistant tarps from Harbor Freight. I highly doubt they would stop a ball hit perpendicular to them without wearing out and eventually failing, but for balls hit parallel, it is very safe. They do a great job acting as baffling for shanks - especially because they hang loosely and absorb all the impact. As you can see in the video, I bought 4 and sewed them together to make an enclosed cube so balls can't get out along the seams where they meet.
      Again, I'm not giving you directions on what you should or shouldn't do to your house, just providing feedback and sharing my process so it might provide some inspiration to you! Enjoy!

      Impact screen to back wall is pretty close, like 8-12 inches. That's shorter than recommended which is why I have those extra carpets and sheets hanging behind the screen. If you are talking above the screen like tarps to ceiling, it's a little less, but I haven't run into any issues with skied drivers or really high lofted wedges. The angle and speeds they are traveling just get eaten up by the baffling.
