I watched the Raptors 2019 doocumentary yesterday to reminisce on that season. The film crew showed Kawhi after he played 52 minutes in game 3 of the ECF. The look he had on his face was the most worn out expression I have ever seen from a player in the league.
That being said, Kawhi literally gave it his all to win that championship. Kudos to him for getting his revenge on Golden State. His injuries are tragic and his retirement is only a matter time. I'm just glad I got to see his career🙏
Dam kawhi is becoming one of the biggest what's ifs. He really had his last run in 2019, and he was extremely load managed that year and you could tell he still barely made it through that championship. He had the potential to put together an all time great resume.

His accolades have context. First of all, it's the Basketball HoF. Guys who never played in the NBA are in that HoF. Second, Melo has no DPOYs and no FMVPs, and he played in the East when ppl called it the LEast. He's going to be in the HoF as well.
When Kawhi won his first FMVP, he was literally the 4th option for the whole season. He gets enough credit for stepping up in the post-season. But you can't act like he was a superstar at that point just because of the way the season ended. He was just a role player on a team led by old guys. After he took over the team, he didn't win anything in SA. Curry took over the West and held onto the West with and without KD all the way until Kawhi eventually ran away from the West.
Toronto made the playoffs 5 years in a row before Kawhi got there. 3 of those years they were a 50+ win team and the only reason they missed the Finals was due to LeBron and the Cavs.

The following year, they swapped DeRozan for Kawhi. They upgraded their number 1 option and that same year LeBron left CLE. 3 years in a row, eliminated by LeBron, then Kawhi takes over and there is no LeBron to deal with. Kawhi coming off of tons of rest after hustling SA still only won that title due to GS not being able to stay healthy.
He immediately left for LA and went right back to what he was doing as the number 1 in SA. Getting hurt and winning nothing.

You didn't really have a point against Browns theory. No one suggested or implied that you had to be a Nike athlete to make the team. Most guys on the team are Nike athletes, but with Brown and Kyrie specifically, they both have issues with Nike. That's where that probability comes from.

Owners selling teams, TNT not renewing and the TV deal contract being a 10 year deal instead of a 4 or 5 and not being as lucrative, the U.S. on a national level are going to be really bad but there's no outrage when it happens because nobody will care. Not going in the right direction
Kawhi this season made all star team, all nba, and was a top 10 player in the league. He not going decline when he on the court. Clippers at this point just hope to be a play in team and pray for kawhi and harden to stay healthy. With the contract they have just nothing else they can do.

Bro as a Mavs fan, this shit is so sad. Used to love and look forward to the playoff matchup vs the Clips every year. Gave us great series every time going to 6-7 games.
This is tough to watch because Kawhi has been my favorite player since Kobe retired. I honestly think his fundamental style of play combined with his ruthless efficiency on both ends is the best way to win a playoff game. Plus this was such a perfect fit with the Clippers because he didn't have to do a lot of playmaking which led to him having a lot of energy defensively where I thought he had his best year as a Clipper. Also, the reason his scoring numbers went down is because he didn't demand the as much as other superstars which is the right way to play winning basketball.
In short, my silly ass really thought Kawhi was gonna have another great playoff run but man I was disappointed. And now this is like a nail in the coffin. So i have to officially say "we done with Kawhi Leonard"

The new CBA is great. Teams are handing out bad contracts and tons of money like it's going out of style. They should pay the price if things don't work out. There's no easy way out now. You have to deal with the consequences if things go south.
The new cba isn’t great, teams paid the price for bad contracts by not winning and paying hundreds of millions for nothing. The new cba just makes it so if your not the 1st or 2nd option your probably making closer to minimum pay. It’s just a work around for owners to save themselves money

Kawhi is my favorite player in the NBA and I truly believe that people do not know how much we have missed out on. IMO the best version Kawhi was 2017 which is the only season where he was able to maintain his hyper efficient volume scoring DPOY level defense. His injury set him back so much and defensively he was never the same after 2017. It is a shame that we never got to see Kawhi fulfill his potential, but also insane that he was able to reach the height that he did considering that he was supposed to be a role-player. 2019 is still my favorite playoff run shame that Warriors got hurt though. However the biggest shame in my opinion is 2021. Every all time great has a low point. For Kawhi it was 2020 where Kawhi underperformed. A lot of people blame this loss on the team, but Kawhi did not play like Kawhi this series, and if he did the Clippers win that series IMO. So in 2021 Kawhi had to prove that he was the best and in the first 2 rounds he was playing like it, but as we all know he went down. Not saying he would have won the chip that year, but a complete playoff would have cemented Kawhi's legacy either way, and completed a really compelling narrative. Either he wins and proves that he is that dude, or he looses and everyone can say that he was really good, but not quite on the level of other all time greats. The limbo that Kawhi injuries have left us in is the ultimate anticlimax, and possibly the worst way to end a story. Even Kawhi haters have a hard time because Kawhi sadly hasn't even done enough to hate. IMO Kawhi was set up a the perfect dark horse, but was never able to live to his narrative potential which leads to people feeling frustrated. I am a fan though so imma keep believing that Kawhi will get a healthy run before he goes so he can complete his narrative. Ultimately i dont think NBA fans realize what we have missed with Kawhi absence 2019 was hype though
