Cute that you got that many chickens! The neighbours & friends will benefit. Maybe Austin & his wife will want to raise some😉 thanks for sharing & blessings to everyone 🤗🇨🇦
Chickens in the front yard weird? I used to graze my horse in the front yard. Our chickens free ranged in the front yard. My neighbors had pastures with cattle along both sides of their driveway. You put your livestock wherever you need to put them. It ain’t suburbia!
😂😂😂 we moved ours one season around our property which is on a hill. It’s official residence now is at the bottom of the hill in a burn pile because it was that heavy.
A friend of mine would have galvanized trash cans around the property with different kinds of feed in it for different animals. He would use a bungee cord the whole lid down.
Thank you Justin and your family for being so awesome and wholesome.. I love the honesty and forwardness of every video..I learn alot from watching you and the family.. It's not just about growing food that I learn.. But I watch the family growth as well. God Bless you and the family.....
Look how hard it is for you to actually pull that tractor. Us old people can't do that. Plus the sun is so intense because of this grand solar Maximum I would never put my chickens on yhe south side of my house. They need light, not intense heat. I'm in the process of designing a chicken tractor for us old people. I have days that I can hardly walk because of arthritis and old age. But I love having chickens. I raised chickens for 20 years but don't have any at the moment.
If I have every chicken make it to maturity, not down or get picked off, I’ll let some go when they’re just about to start laying. I’ll get a decent price for them and they’re easy to move. Of course, I don’t have a UA-cam channel with a million subs, so I get to get the word out a little
Congrats on launching the "Class of 2024"! I might actually consider this smaller chicken tractor for our fenced yard on the South side of the house. We're just two aging adults, so we do fine with six layers... and the ladies love fresh greens and the bugs that inhabit them.
The 1/2 inch wire is good!!! Chicken wire is really useless unless you double it. A bobcat will rip the wire off the wood if it's not super stapled. I live in desert.
Anything 11 guage and thinner becomes a chicken eye hazard quickly as critters including mice and squirrels rip it up in no time. I've seen several chickens and a turkey blinded this way. The turkey died from the wound.
I have a question about the coops with out floors. Here in Ontario Canada we get cold snow filled winters I would think we would need a floor with insulation to keep the birds alive. What are your thoughts about that?
You need to be careful that your lawn doesn't have any endophytic type fescues, which is all turf-type fescue, since it's toxic. You can buy non-endophytic forage-type fescue seed if you're starting from scratch.
You and your family are such a blessing to not only homesteaders. I watch your videos and they take me back to a time when my grandparents homesteaded before we even knew what homesteading was. Thank you.
Very interesting video. I have had free-range chickens on my horse pasture for 25 years, but this gives me an idea of how to use chickens to tackle some areas where there are weeds. Would that work? Greetings from Belgium
I would love to have them out but too many aerial and ground predators here in FL. I'd have to get clever with CDs, decoys but I'm not sure this would fool Turkey Vultures, which will pack hunt and would likely decimate a batch of babies in short order. Working on a 15x6 hoop house luxury (lol) coop conversion and a second 17x24 run so I can rotate while one grows out/back.
Dang Mr Rhodes you sure take care of the Chicks huh ;) Great videos Sir. Other channels talk about you in the same breath as Joe Saladin watching you is an Education Every time Thank you
I have racoon & possum problems here in Florida. You don't have a floor or apron around outside? Raccoon use to dig into my big runs at night until I put a apron of wire around outside. Would love something like this for my chicks
I disagree, a true chicken lady would actually be able to accurately say all the names of the birds. Also, you talk about turning the cages at night, but do you ever do it? 😊
Ich finde es schön das die Küken schon Gras fressen können und draußen sind. Nur bitte lassen Sie Henry nicht so die Küken jagen! Kinder müssen lernen mit Tieren respektvoll umzugehen.
Did you all hear that Lily sold her pony peaches not surprised . This family does not keep anything they either kill it for meat or sell it because they've lost interest... Whether it's dogs, cats now ponies ect I really need to unsubscribe to this UA-cam channel. I've been following for 8 years but the new videos keep getting worse and more crazier. I suppose if I want calm and settled educational videos I can always go back when things were more normal years ago.
It amazes me how this family can be an example of homesteading by writing books and pay subscriptions to teach people. I knew this family is not up to the task of a horse. The bees are next!
@@Miguel195211 I forgot that they had bees or were they talking about getting bees .Yes the bees will be next . They also don't know how to care for sheep 😞 Always having maggots in the hoofs because of infection... It was also mentioned in one of their videos Justin doesn't believe in veterinarian care they let nature take its course. That's not even Humane!!! if there's an emergency situation veterinarian should be called on the site ASAP. I remember when one of the sheep died and he was dragging / carrying it broke my heart that was just cruel on handling a deceased animal like it was a piece of trash. People are financially struggling due to the economy ...ect Justin Rhodes, family keep rubbing it in everybody's faces about their new million dollar house. And their luxury lifestyle going to chiropractors ...ect They need to start taking care of their animals a lot better.
I feel like chicken tractors call for a "pull it" "pullet" pun
Pullet Penthouse?
@@Thylacine1 Not what I was going for, but alliterations always alright 😜
All your kids have been so interested and involved with your homestead. And then there is Henry 😍Henry has been taking it to a whole other level! ❤
I am convinced Henry is an old soul .. that tiny boy never stops.. he seems to know even though he can't totally hold a conversation ❤❤❤
Chicks look great, love the chicken tractor - garden box combo.
I was surprised as to how many chicks were in that little chicken tractor!

I built a 30”x8ft with 2x4 cut to 2x2 & that sucker is so heavy it was never moved again lol😂

Please teach Henry and Gideon to be gentle with the baby chicks..❤😊
My daughter and I are gonna be just outside your town for the next 4 days!! Just for relaxation!!

I saw the copper wire wrapped around a stick and placed in your garden. on Instagram. It must be a popular method. Kudos to your wife. ❤❤🙏🙏👍👍

Woohooo I have a disability ... I could use that too
I use our zero turn mower in low gear to slowly pull in backwards.
I hear that!

With my new chick's we have 50 in two coops😮😅😂 raising American Breese for eggs and meat.
That is a great sustainable breed. Great job 🙂
We call our transition building “The Crib” lol😂… we have the nursery, the crib, the fluffy but hut and turkey cove. My grandkids named them.

fescues can result in reproductive difficulty for mares.

Can chicken's winter in this? Doesn't seem feasible. Gets cold where I live, with wind.
What size solar energizers would you suggest for 4 100'x42" pos/neg netting?
I'm so confused.
For some, a coop is a must, if not enough property to move around...
We've done a coop for the last two years, but we've got an acre to play with so a small chicken tractor looks doable.

Hi.... Justin Rhodes and Rebecca thanks you for showing your video homestead chicken duck goose farmer garden 🐔🐓🐣🐤🍗🦆🐶🐕🦮🐈🐑🐄🐖🐷🐝 BYE 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Hello there new to the chicken farm experience here.
So, for how long can you keep the chickens in that coop ?
Uncle Justin, what should I use for a coop in a small yard in the desert with little to no grass. I was thinking of a pen with deep bedding.
I live in the northeast, winter can be brutal here. What do you do with your chickens in the winter?
He puts the chicken tractor in the greenhouse.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Love your coup!

You probably answered this question a lot, but whats stopping you from making your own easily moveable large chicken coop?
The chickens can be there night?
Chicks grow so fast
