& commercialism... Saw him, in concert, in the, early, 90's, what a privilege. Travelled, to Sydney, for that one, paid, for the ticket, makes it, evenmore special. A ticket, to ride, isn't always, what it's, cracked up to be. 🙏
This was the last song my dear friend sent me before he passed away just days ago. He was the smartest music fan and one of the most talented musicians I’ve ever known. Thank you @HiattHouse for sharing this video so he could share it with me.
This song more or less immediately popped into my head when I heard the news of Charlie Watts today, and I see I've certainly got some company in that regard! Great song, it came out when I was about 10 or 11 and just getting into current rock music. And of course RIP Mr. Watts
Every time I hear this song (which isn't often enough) I have to get up and dance around like a fool (a very happy fool). It's just that good. Love this song & the singer/songwriter/musician.
Down here in Louisiana when we aren't fighting floods, hurricanes, gators and such, we love to dance. Needless to say John Hiatt & Little Feat are big in my neck of the Bayou. Now the Bayou is full of expensive homes, docks, boats & fine lookin' ladies, but I swear we can dance on water when John Hiatt is on.
I hope the flood water is receding and ya'll will be dancing on dry ground again, soon. Little Feat will certainly get my feet moving. Them and Hiatt put out some of the best music.
Erik T Come on Down Brother. We will reserve some table tops or some Bayou Frontage to listen and maybe Dance to some Little Feat, Robert Palmer's Sneaking Sally and Some John Hiatt on the backside.
In today's environment, this song has a great message along with the great tunes and singing! "...Learn to live with love or without it, but there is no cure..."
Here in Rutland, Vermont I’ve seen him twice at the @Paramount theater! He’s significantly worse without his electric backing band! His acoustic version was decades removed from the with band performance!
@@aaronexists4308 shit bro your favorite is usually the one you think is the best. Apologies not required for personal taste. If you haven't heard Straight Outta Time from his Austin City Limits recording do yourself a favor and check it out. Top of his game
I LOVE this song. I'd never heard of John Hiatt until he came out with this album back in 1988 (was it?), and this song was played. I immediately knew I had to get the album, and it was one of my favorite at that time in my life. Brings back some good, and some painful, memories. Great song.
First off, Thanks for posting this hidden classic! Most people don't know this song, but for those of us who are in the know like us here now, we get it!😄 Great, underrated artist! The Force is with us!!! Oh! RIP to Charlie Watts! Saw you in 81 and 89. You are missed!
JustAintthatWay, First John Hiatt song I ever heard was "Seven Little Indians". Talk about a great story. Hiatt has it all: Great songwriter - some of the best lyrics ever - great musician to boot. This 1st tape of Hiatt tunes also had the great Jeff Healey - better guitarist than 99% of those who could see...
I saw John in Kalamazoo MI. He came out and shook our hands and talked with us afterwards. And he had done the whole acoustic show alone. He was very genteel and gracious. The man's raw soul, energy and charisma is second only to his talent. Fantastic song. My second favorite of his.
a song that SHOULD be shared with the entire world, .......yes, it's been around for quite a few years, yet still relevant. If EVERYONE would just watch this and ENJOY the music.....things might be better. WE CAN ALL "relate" to a damn fine song!!
It just doesn't get better than John and Sonny! John, we never had ANY doubt going back to the 'good ole' days at Jocks along with Randy, Gary, Jody Maphis, Nitty Gritty & Saxon, Danny under a tree in Centennial Park, Williamson, Worley & Berkely, Jaime Nichols (& all the rest of the Nerve), John Logan, Rich Carpenter, and far too many others to to recall...
I listen to very heavy music, but I have always loved John Hiatt. His lyrics are classic. Excellent song writer. Slow Turning has been a favorite of mine for at least 15 years.
This is a very easy song to play. Hiatt shows that less is more and that a good song doesn't need a lot for people to appreciate it. I saw John at a 500 person venue in 1987. He played for 2 1/2 hours. There was a lot of great energy that night. Sonny played slide and the band rocked the house. Good memories.
I grew up a mile or so from John but didn't 'know' him til he got noticed thru his songwriting and since have seen him several times, most recently in Indy about 2 years ago...great song writer/ musican and human being!
I came to John Hiatt very late around mid of the 90th. Was in a pub in Kopenhagen, Denmark and during the break the band played songs that i liked very much. I remembered the voice from a movie (True Lies), so i looked it up on the Video...John Hiatt.Since that time i just love his music and Slow Turning is my favourite! Thanks for such great music!
John Hyatt is worldfamous in the Netherlands. I love this guy and I'm glad he did not end up in The House Without Any Windows. Thanks for everything hope to see you ever again, preferably in the Paradiso, Amsterdam.
RIP Charlie Watts.....God Bless John for name checking him here.
I Thought of this song as soon as I heard the news of Charlie's passing. He had quite a far reaching impact on musicians around the world.
Mick said that "charlie is the engine, without him this train dont move."
👍
@@theimperialcanis3111 Me too. I just got the Stones reference now with Not Fade Way,as well.
First thing I thought of when I heard.
John Hiatt is criminally underated. An assload of more well known country / rockabilly / rock "stars" wish they had his genuineness.
Say it loud
& commercialism...

🙏
Sorry for the 14yr delay for a response, but you are right, seriously underated. What a voice.😊
I’ve known about him for years but I’m only just discovering him, and I couldn’t agree more with this statement.
Always on to 10 with the goners w/Sonny Landreth. Seen em live twice.
BAYFRONT, wi 😅😅
Charlie Watts RIP...; he's left the parking lot, the building and now slow turning... not fade away, not fade away...
"And she's laughing that crazy laugh cause ya haven't left the parking lot " classic.
John Hiatt is an excellent songwriter and wish he got more recognition - which he so deserves! Love his music.
That’s an understatement.
One of the best writers, preformers ever. Up there with Dylan, Young in my opinion- PAPER THIN!!- for all you wordsmiths out there...
For sure.
John Hiatt is a LEGEND. His music has made me a better HUMAN
He should be 2000 times as popular as he is
Agree 100%
Every life lesson you will ever need is contained in a John Hiatt lyric.
That’s the truth 👍
OMGawd ain’t that da truth
Damn. Straight.

Hi Grinning. Your friend had excellent taste in music. I suspect this song will live with you forever. Best.
This sounds as fresh today as it did when I was 18 listening back in ‘88
Definitely
❤️
"They're bangin' like Charlie Watts" RIP
John Hiatt is so awesome, this song is as good today as it was the day it was written. Time tested
One of the most underrated musicians of our time
Him and Ry Cooder. Vastly underappreciated
Agreed! But john doesnt give a shit that hes under-rated which makes him even cooler! 😅
My 75 year old Mom's favorite Hyatt tune. Best part was telling John and he understood.
Rest in peace, Charlie. A cornerstone of my own life and my music, that was the Stones. One thing for sure Charlie wont fade away.
This song more or less immediately popped into my head when I heard the news of Charlie Watts today, and I see I've certainly got some company in that regard!

THIS SONG IS A CLASSIC!!!! Heard it the first time in 1987...still love it!
Me too ✋️
@@stevepickett4453It's a ripper song...
‘Cause nobody said “Boo to me”…
Yelling @ the kids in the back… ‘That crazy laugh’… Not Fade Away, Not Fade Away”…Brilliant lyrics & vid. 🎼 👍🏼
Agreed! Such fun lyrics while jumping on my mini trampoline as a kid.
Couldn't agree more to everyone's comments.
Brother John is a genius songwriter. Vastly underrated. A secret for those who take the time or have the luck to be exposed to his music. Wonderful.
America's most underrated singer-songwriter. I dare you to find a bad John Hiatt song.
Every time I hear this song (which isn't often enough) I have to get up and dance around like a fool (a very happy fool). It's just that good. Love this song & the singer/songwriter/musician.
Good tune from a good time...
Down here in Louisiana when we aren't fighting floods, hurricanes, gators and such, we love to dance. Needless to say John Hiatt & Little Feat are big in my neck of the Bayou. I was just listening to Lowell George and for some reason, I needed to hear this song as well. Maybe I belong down on the bayou.
Erik T Come on Down Brother. We will reserve some table tops or some Bayou Frontage to listen and maybe Dance to some Little Feat, Robert Palmer's Sneaking Sally and Some John Hiatt on the backside.
I was lucky enough to hear Hiatt and Shawn Colvin perform this song with two acoustic guitars. The bare-bones version was fantastic!
72 here. So glad I stumbled across this one. Forgot it just like a lot of things
This song needs to be released again for a new generation
Great Album, Great Songwriter, 2024.
remember (WCMF i believe Dave Cain playing this in 88-89 era) great stuff
I have seen Brother John many a time. What a great guy. He should be much more popular. A true AMERICAN, and a wonderful song-writer.
This is what the world needs right now. One love.
One of the best songs ever....and the video always makes me cry with joy. Great job, John, you are legendary!!!
John - you fucking rock
This tune is bad to the bone, well written, good music, great producing...it has it all; well done John!
In today's environment, this song has a great message along with the great tunes and singing! "...Learn to live with love or without it, but there is no cure..."
Simply great
John was unheard of in my circle till I put him on the jukebox in my bar.
And the smiling begins...
Just another song that brings tears to my eyes for some reason... Maybe its the celebration of simple living..
He is so awsome !! I was lucky to see him in concert , he wrote songs for everybody !!!!
Here in Rutland, Vermont I’ve seen him twice at the @Paramount theater! He’s significantly worse without his electric backing band! His acoustic version was decades removed from the with band performance!
Love the sing, this video, and the vast talent if this man.
John Hiatt is a total guarantee of musical quality
Another damn awesome song from his wonderful career and so many fantastic albums
I like John's songs as they are relatable. I see that he is still touring, too. Good for him.
Love John Hiatt, clever lyricist and underated musician..
This is his best album
@@aaronexists4308 Stolen Moments is also excellent. Not a filler song to be found.
I apologize. I should have said my favorite (though I haven’t listened to a lot of his enough).

I implied it was objectively the best. Thanks for the recommendation.
Love that gravel voiced drawl combined with the blues guitar. Hiatt is the man.
Best live concert ever. And I've been to a lot! Perfectly good guitar 🎸
Something about this song puts me in one hell of a good mood.
I only heard this song on WDST in Woodstock NY,I wish others would, great music
John Hiatt. Another great singer/songwriter who never got the recognition that he truly deserves.
This cat can sure play and sing! John Hiatt is awesome!
Charlie Watts's sad passing brought me here! Great song!! RIP and ROCK ON!!!!
How did I get this old without hearing of this guy before.. Fabulous.
Just bad luck I guess!
How many of you out there..can relate..59...and just now getting it 🤣
Another Hiatt masterpiece
One of my all time favorite songs!
Heard this song driving home from my last day of work, sore and hurting. Really brought my spirits up!
Joel Neugebauer all the times you bang like Keith Moon, to many memories with Lake Michigan. Thanks Dad and Mom. I love you both.

Samantha was her name, if she remembers me.
Memories of this song jumping on my trampoline.
Anyone who thumbs down this needs to leave the country cause this is Americana music at its finest
Well Said!!!

Such a great song and artist. They don't make artist like him anymore
One of the best songs ever written, period.
Outstanduinf talent. One of my Go To artists when I need to bust a move out in my shop.
Makes me feel happy_ This is the great power of John Hiatt, his songs turn your bad day into a marvellous one-
Simple but profound song. Beautiful.

He's a wordsmith for sure, plus he puts out on stage totally. The best of both sides.
It occured to me that someday John too will pass. I will cry like a baby that day.
This IS one of the best songs ever written!
Brilliant and so is underrated John Hiatt!
Wish all songs sounded as great as this one!
Absolutely!
One of those songs that just make grin from ear to ear!
This music makes me happy.
One of my favorite songwriters singing about my favorite drummer.
John Hiatt is just awesome! Every project he does, whether it’s solo or something like Little Village is incredible! Keep rocking John!!!
Remarkable songwriter and performer!
It's been a slow turnin, a slow journey, a slow learning, for all of us,huh? LOVE this guy.
