Jerky, Chips, Pretzels, Popcorn. Long ago, the four snacks lived in harmony. But everything changed when the Pretzel Nation attacked.
I feel like Jerky would be more the fire nation givin the name :P
Considering that pretzels are German… and baked in an oven… that’s quite concerning.
😂😂😂😂. That's a good one
@@arm279145 😮
YEEESSSSS
My theory: the sudden storm that resulted in Aang being frozen for 100 years was caused by all the atmospheric turbulence from the massive fight between the Air Nomads and the comet turbo-charged Fire Nation. It created an imbalance in temperature and air pressure, causing the huge storm front to appear.
My theory is that he got swept up by a hurricane that will landfall in hours 😅
22:50 Dallas Liu is such a skilled martial artist. That is actually him doing most of the stunts. Super excellent choice casted as Zuko.
He even sounds a lot like animated Zuko.
I like Zuko's almost panic/desperation at Aang escaping. Not just anger like the cartoon, but he seems like his glimmer of hope is slipping through his fingers.
OK, I get that "Navatar" makes more sense brand-wise, but I was still a little disappointed he didn't call himself the "Ad-vatar"
“Ad-vatar” too perfect! 👍🏾
I absolutely adore this show. I've never properly watched the animated series, but I have friends who made sure I knew all about it. I loved the character portrayal here, the toned down silliness, and the effects
I love the adaptation aswell.
The changes that are made, some of them are pure fire!
The Air Nation is nice to everyone. They build bridges.
Oooo that was smooth.
😎
I wonder if Adam was tempted to leave Jay in the iceberg.
I was………😎
@@pReviewdthat is cold 🥶
And the Navatar saga book 1 begins…….. oh boy pop pop
Bro. That was hilarious
@0:51 adam's face and jay's antics are all of the reasons i subscribed to this channel xD
I loved this season. yes, it had it's rough spots, but the first season of the show was also pretty week. It respects the OG, it keeps it feeling fresh, and honestly I'm deeply disappointed at people just auto hating on this. Thanks guys for your positivity!
I could have gone without seeing the children and elderly in the air nation light up in flames.
@@leilaniz5909the point was it was uncomfortable.. the idea was to put sadness /desperation in your mind as the viewer. If you didn’t like it that was the point
@@dannytv12 For me it was more than uncomfortable, I love the cartoon and was very excited to see this, but I am really not into violent shows (I would not get very far in Game of Thrones for example) and as awesome as the live action bending was, starting with someone being immolated and then having to watch the genocide in its entirety? At the very start of the show? That ruined the rest of the episode for me as I just felt sick, which then made all the other changes worse, like the fact that Aang doesn't run away, he just leaves and happens to get caught in the storm. I think I'm going to have to go back and just watch the second half by itself at some point to give it more of a chance on its own. For me Avatar is a kids show, it can be enjoyed by all obviously, but it has that youthful spirit and that's what I always loved about it, sure it has dark moments, but that's not how the show starts. I started the live action and lost that feeling immediately and it didn't come back even when we got to Sokka, Katara and so on. I've not finished it yet and I love a lot about the show, the sets and the costumes and the music are amazing and a lot of the bending is good, but the level of violence on display is a bit much for me. Obviously I knew it was going to be more so than a cartoon simply by its nature simply by being live action but I thought it would still be a show accessible to all ages like the original, but not so much and hey the fact that they wanted it to appeal to people who like Game of Thrones should have probably been an alarm bell for me haha. That being said, I'm well aware that most people have more of a stomach for violence than I do, so I get why they've done it like this, it just doesn't feel like Avatar for me personally yet, maybe by the time I've finished the series it will! It's clear that most of the people involved have a lot of love for the original and that's awesome and definitely makes me want to at least give the rest of the first season a shot
There was really only one episose and character I flat out disliked. That being ep5 and Bumey. Like I get what they were trying to do with toning down the Ang Katara romance and driving home the messages of war forcing peopoe to make impossible decisions, but the execution left a fair amount to be desired. And I also wasn’t the hugest fan of the changes made to live action Sokkah. I liked him being a confident warrior with riz. But even so I liked him a lot more than a lot of people and enjoyed the arc the writers gave him. And his and Eway’s relationship felt more complete in this. Oh I lso wish Katara got to actually train with Paku, but that’s a more minor thing.
I’m sure the start was entirely scripted but I can totally see Jay pulling something like this on Adam during a random Tuesday
Sam Riegel, eat your heart out 🤣❤️
I sometimes forget I am among fellow critters here!
Oh to see Jay and Sam come together for an ad. Just putting it out there into the universe
I honestly didn't think much of the show till I watched since I thought bending would look bad in live action. But not only is it good looking for the most part, this show just works. It's not gonna be the same as the original, and I'm glad because a one-to-one recreation will never be worth it or live up to expectations. This is telling the story with a little more humanity, a little more seriousness/trauma, and some changes and additions that still make sense for a cohesive universe. Watched till the end and I loved it, excited for season (book?) 2 and 3.
I finished the season yesterday, and overall I really love it. Jay put it perfectly in saying it’s much more human. And they definitely made an effort to show how much war has affected everyone, in a way that can’t be glossed over. Overall, I thought the changes made were creative & I didn’t mind them at all.
And I have to mention how much I love Katara’s actress, Kiawentiio. In the cartoon, early Katara was my least favorite of the gang. But Kiawentiio plays her so gently & is so endearing, she quickly became one my favorites for this show.
Lastly, the way Zuko & Iroh’s relationship is portrayed is so sweet. I hope you guys love them & Zuko’s journey as much as I did.
Here's the thing - One Piece got adapted just as heavily as this did. Neither live action replaces the animated series. It's just another telling of a cool story. Plus, Book One is the weakest of the three, so I'm not going to hold live action Book One to an animated Book Three standard. So far, I really like what I see.
Ngl… hearing ppl say the One Piece adaption clears this first season of Avatar is the first thing that’s made me curious about it. It’s really that good?
@@DreamFearless It sure is that good, both in terms of being a solid adaptation of the animanga and as its own standalone thing
when ATLA live action was released i could only watch up to epi 2 and half, i have to stop because what i know happened in book 1 of the og cartoon is pretty different from this live action.. but then i came to the idea that - the live action is what was happening for real, not very exciting but it tells what actually happened and that the og cartoon was kind of a retelling of the story in a more KatAAng centric view.. it's not true of course, but this way i can enjoy the live action without feeling the og is disrespected 😁😊
@@DreamFearless One Piece live action is a good adaptation and I highly recommend watching it. It's difficult to compare it with NATLA, because adaptation-wise NATLA had a far more difficult job to do.
@@kmjkmjkmj Season one had plenty of heavy exposition dumps. One of the fan favorites of season 1, The Storm, is one big fucking exposition dump. Please keep your criticism fair across the board. The actors will get better with more experience, and I thought many of them did great for child actors. The actors of the Harry Potter series originally were kinda cringe at times too, but they grew into the role and got better. I'm willing to give it a chance, because I enjoyed what I've seen from this adaptation of the show. It doesn't have to be as good as the original to still be interesting and enjoyable.
This casting is SOOOO Good, and they all have so much fun being in this series. Also, it’s good to see the Preview’d snack bar getting restocked with delicious-delicious pop’n-corns.
Tricked me into watching a 4+ minute commercial, and I loved it.
Thank you for actually looking at it objectively and not being like these Avatar gatekeepers that are hating on this show. Love the Ultimate Warrior reference.
Just warning you guys, they mix plot elements around a bit in this show. For example, some characters from season 2 of the main show are in this season of the LA. It also references the comet in the first episode, which is revealed in season 2. This adaptation is meant for (I believe) people who have seen the full main show. Beware, you might get some spoilers.
PS- The ad bit killed me😂
And the secret tunnel song/plot.
As someone who would normally be very critical, the live action avatar surprised me with how competent it is. I really don’t like the new Percy Jackson show, but I really loved this!
I am surprised how much hate it has gotten. Besides heaps of exposition, I don’t see many issues with the adaptation.
I can't wait for season 2 with Toph
Yeah these guys actually found actors who look like the characters, unlike Rick Riordan
@@daurydavis3983 That was not my issue with the Percy show.
Ya gotta have exposition in a show like this, particularly an adaptation. There will be a lot of people watching that have never seen the animated series. And not all of the people who have seen it know the lore and back history of the characters. Besides, the animated series was constantly dropping exposition all over the place and nobody complains about it.
@@DonMachado This adaptation lore drops in very awkward ways sometimes. To say it doesn’t would be a lie. The original show would also do this, and it wasn’t the best handled part of the show, for sure.
The ad spot is like a Rick and Morty sketch 🤣
Bro yesssssss 🤣❤️
It gave me Critical Role vibes like Sam coming up with the wildest hooks to promote their sponsors.
Much like the first season of the animated series, this gets better as the episodes continue. The animated series is stronger in its cleanly animated action and bold characters, but I enjoy the many more subtle, quieter character moments this series brings. It's kind of like a graphic novel versus a standard book. Both have their great stories to tell.
Jay wanting to see the baby bison. My guy you will. It will take A LOOOOONG time. But you will 😭
@@kmjkmjkmj im saying this because I know they are also watching the animated series. And hopefully they will continue to watch Legend of Korra.
And I dont know what you're talking about. But this is far from a shit show. 😘
I think "same song, different tune" sums up my thoughts perfectly. There is def room for improvement in some areas but overall I liked the Netflix show. Its not really trying to be better than the OG or 1-1 adaption but It feels like it respects the OG and understands the soul of it
LIke the showrunners said, they never wanted to try to "show up" the original or do a 1:1. They said it's like a remix of your favorite song and honestly that is an apt comparison.
I totally agree... I'm just glad they went ahead and did the thing :)
@@gamingeagle19Although it ends up missing a bunch of the best parts
@Meowtro There are a lot of single episode stories left out sure but that's why you go and then watch the OG if the live action is your introduction to Avatar
this episode and episode 6 were written by the original creators! its nice to see them contribute to this
When you said "six out of six," I was sure the rest of the line was going to be "legs on Appa!"
Jay is really out here channeling Sam Riegal.
Iroh doesn't have the rasp but he nails his personality......I can't wait to see him in the later seasons l, especially when he gets yoked in prison and busts out
oh yeah, I am excited to see how they will do that!
No one has a rasp in the live action. But it's a big factor in choosing voice actors. The right amount makes a character phonetically pleasing, you get addicted to their voice. Animation Aang had a 10% rasp, and that tiny amount was crucial in casting Adult Aang's voice actor.
Seeing the childlike joy across both your faces during this reaction was so wholesome and inspiring. So glad you both are having fun and went into this with acceptance that this is an adaptation and fundamentally going to be different and reimagined. The original will always be there to revisit and nothing will really compare to it, but this was a pretty fun journey in spite of its faults
And I’m here for more Navatar content 🍑
Congrats on 150k!!
I'm absolutely loving live action version of the show.
I really really like this series, and I hope the people that don’t will realize down the line how awesome it actually is. It’s not free of faults, but it’s pretty amazing!
Oh my god the intro bit. I don’t think I’ve ever seen y’all do an ad before. It was AMAZING 🤣
The lack of popcorn for 8 years explains how you guys are always the only ones in the theater, lol
The Futurama cut reference almost made me spit out my drink lmfao 😂
Congrats on the sponsor guys!
I do like how in this version, Aang was just going to go clear his head, not actually run away it seems. He just got caught in the storm while clearing said head
I was thinking Spaceballs, then Col. Sanders and Dark Helmet were on my screen. Love ya edits!
I think Navatar may be my favorite sponsored plug I've ever seen so far! 🤣 (can't wait to CHIP away at this snack bag of a story. Rooting for the Pretzel Lord)
The different subsections of Navater's popcorn bending include the different flavours.
"Appa and Slave 1" we need that sitcom
You guys! I'm over here crying watching Jay, the Last Popcorn Bender! I want to see the full theatrical cut! Loved your reaction. I look forward to the upcoming battles with the Snack Nations. (also ordered some popcorn...Jay made me do it!)
The best part is gonna be when a fan creates an edit using the cartoon and the LA series together.
I find it funny a lot of reactors get so excited when they see all the air bison flying in not realizing that they were all slaughtered as well by the Fire Nation.
😂😂😂😂 Jay is killing it. Thank you for the popcorn for the Slop Goblins 🥣🥣🥣🥣🥣
Your thoughts on the series are actually the best so far. Most reactors are so vocal about them skipping bits and pieces, but you got it right. It's an adaptation, not a carbon copy. And rearranging and cutting makes it even better.
Spot on
I agree, i enjoyed wacthing this live action series, i rate it 9/10 better than the crappy movie
Also, this live action series ATLA is No.1 in the Top Ten television shows in Netflix in several countries since it started streaming
The movie was just a fever dream we got our frozen frogs, we are all ok now.
If more ads were like yours I’d actually enjoy UA-cam a lot more 😂❤
A They Live reference!? 😎 Looking forward to more popcorn lore
I'm loving this series a lot
the music stings are on point especially for the fire nation
Congrats on the 150k subs! Love the scarf Jay!
(20 seconds into video) These guys are such goofballs. Now I need some popcorn.
Go forth and pop-ify.
@@pReviewdDone!
12:35 and now I realize I never thought of the fact that there is a male and female version of flying bison and I can’t unsee them fucking 😂
as someone that's on his second watch through of the series. I'm worried that there are some things that you might actually not be ready to see before finishing the animated first season. They do some stuff a little earlier. No spoilers, but just a heads up.
That's the sentence the haters tend to forget when watching Live action adaptations, "I HAD FUN" purists so absorbed in getting things 1-1 that they forget how to have fun. Seeing the reactions of friends and a bunch of other reactors since the show started..... looks like a lot of people had fun with this version of Avatar 😂🥰 This is FUN 🥰
just this intro alone is worth the price of admission. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! never. change!
Jay... I'm not gonna lie, your Navatar is giving Sir Pentious from Hazbin 😂❤❤❤
I have never laughed at a promo ad. . . Until today! Well done Jay! Good luck Adam!
Hi we’re Keister McGuffin, just need a book or a holocron to get started 😂🤭
Oh I understood the reference.
Also.
SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM!!
They haven’t had to deal with an air bender in 100 years
I didn’t see anyone commenting that yet, but the live action show includes heavy spoilers to the animated series(seasons 2 and 3) and a lot of hints and informations that you only receive much much later (even in the legend of Korra) so i recommend finishing the whole series first or not watching it at all before this new series reaches its last season
My wife and I both really loved the Netflix live action series . Glad to see your reactions 🙂
You made me feel old when you said not many people would understand the ultimate warrior reference 😢
I thought each episode just got better and better. I like this almost as much as the animated series.
Overall I think the changes made to the story make for a tighter and stronger narrative. While I have a deeeeeep affection for the original, I think the changes really work well.
There are things I'm not sure I'm thrilled about, but it's tilted very very positive.
Looks like Popcorn's back on the menu Slop Goblins!!! Just in time to pick up a snack as we begin to experience this Great Divide of a show
As somebody that knows a little about this but has never watched the OG, I like it
"I will always be your friend..." And have always been. Because as revealed later on, Gyatso and Roku were also friends. Hits me in the heart everytime. And yes her hair loopies are based on an actual indigenous hairstyle lol.
Also, it strikes me in this version (as Aang wasn't running just clearing his head) that though storms at sea are notorious for their intensity and randomness, that so much Air bending and comet-infused fire-bending could have created that storm. So it was no accident, ironically, that Aang was prevented from returning.
Another corner of the cinematic Jayverse revealed.
@23:10: To quote Captain America, I understood that reference. Buuuuuut, "brother" is Hulk Hogan's word. The Ultimate Warrior didn't really say anything when he ran into the ring.
There are several changes from the anime in this live action version but all the changes work well for the storyline.
I honestly haven't seen anyone that doesn't like this version. I'm not sure why people keep saying "all the haters", because I haven't really seen any of that. Other than a few comments regarding the acting from the younger cast members mostly because that particular person doesn't like young kids acting... Visually, story-wise, this live action version is very well done and I'm looking forward to the next season.
This to me, is the reaction the show deserves. I loved it!
From the sweet, like Jay, and salty, like Adam throughout that bit 🤣🤣
Spine tattoos actually aren’t too bad, once you move to the flesh parts is when it starts to hurt. At least for me. Love your guys' content.😊😊
I watched the watch along version and was confused on where the surprise was, I’m so glad I checked the UA-cam version 😂😂😂🍿
I’m part of the Pizza Nation 🍕, Za benders rule! 😂
Also Cowabenda 👏🏻 BRAVO 😂
I really, really like this show. I'm not huge into the animated show, but I know it well enough. I really don't get the negativity from reviewers/fans - were they expecting a shot-for-shot remake of the animation? I think it builds on things in the right way, and even though later episodes do have wooden dialogue and acting in some parts, I still don't think it deserves strong hate for that. And comfortably better than the film version.
I also really, really like it. In my opinion, most of the negativity comes down to people just wanting to generate engagement. They want the views, they want people to argue with, they want to look smarter than everyone else. It's easier to criticize and hate on something, than it is to give it a chance, to try to understand the changes, to separate this from the original. Everyone is entitled to liking or disliking this, what's tiresome is all the unnecessary hate.
@@karouakiva1714 This show is just bad... No other reason...
The show is nothing compared to the original.
@@blondymonk1535 As per the showrunner, it's not trying to be the original, so expecting otherwise is setting yourself up for disappointment. But like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
@@karouakiva1714 I don't care about it not being the same. I care about it being well written. And it is anything but.

It’s about time they served some snacks in the orchard!! Ordered 3 gift boxes for family and friends!!
The only ad spot I've seen that actually made me want to buy the product 😂
I got tricked into an ad. 🧐 Before I realized what was happening, it was too late. So I didn't skip. This time. Lol
Navatar the Popcorn Bender sure sounds a lot like Sir Pentious.
It's also seawater, Jay! Salt water doesn't freeze until much lower temperatures. 😁😁
Guys, I really need to know what being a popcorn bender entails. What are the Navatar's powers? Is he just able to pop corn or does he possess other secret abilities? Is his mission to unite the four flavors of popcorn: butter, cheese, caramel, and kettle? We must have answers
That intro is everything. Lmao
Yes yes yes! Been waiting for y'all's reaction! Love the popcorn ad, love the inserts lol (Futurama, Spaceballs, etc). I am so digging the show and I'm glad you guys are too.
I've been waiting for this moment to see both of your reactions to this series! 💖
They really missed the mark by not tying those neon orange and green streamers around his biceps
Jay: So far this ROCKS man.
*slow clap* 😂
Guys. There is still a slight flaw in watching this before finishing. There is a reason a lot of people think the animated version is almost perfect. The plot development and character development from Book 1 to Book 3 are some of the best you will ever see. Book 1 is kind 9f childlike and fun, but things get more serious and dire as the seasons go on. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, but there are also characters in this first season that don't even appear in Book 1 of the animated series. It just wont be the same experience.
I can't believe netflix sponsored you guys to put a reaction to their show at the end of your advert! Congrats! 😂
For some reason, my brain heard "Navatar: The Last Popcorn Vendor" rather than "...Bender" and I guess that works, too! :)
I think it's interesting that the OG creators are credited writers on this episode, since this episode combines and compresses the plot a lot better then some of the future episodes to me.
And yet people complaint about too much exposition in this one
Omg I am so stoked seeing this up. Y'all made my Monday 🍑🍑
I just bought some popcorn on the internet because that ad read was amazing!
GWEENBEEEEEAAAN FTW!

That intro was worthy of its own Netflix series 😂 As for the actual show, I'm glad y'all seemed to enjoy the episode. Personally, I wasn't a fan of this season and I'm unsure if I'll continue watching (if indeed it gets renewed). I really liked the first and sixth episodes, but the rest just wasn't it for me. Glad that there are those who are enjoying it though!
I'm so ready for these reactions
