  • Some 5.6 million people rely on the subway each day to get around New York City. But what do you really know about something you spend so much time riding? We sat down with a group of MTA workers to ask them about the MTA's dirtiest secrets. The I-Team's Pei-Sze Cheng sat down with some conductors to ask the hard questions.

Abstractt . . . For better, replace these outdated model trains with faster & more comfy seated trains. Also cut the number of bus stops especially outside of manhattan & Staten Island, since the buses have to go through traffic. It doesn’t cost much to cut down the amount of bus stops and it would help people health wise. People would get the extra exercise out of it. Leave 3 to 4 blocks between stops.

It's not as simple as that, the signals are over 100 years old. How do you replace them w/o interfering with the service, as well as making a budget when the politicians stick their noses and use the money on useless stuff.

The system is due for a major overhaul. A lot of that equipment is extremely old. Wires are probably old and full of asbestos so it's not like thy can just rip it out either. Takes time that requires sutting down service. We seen what happened with the L train. It just couldn't wait any longer but that has to happen to the whole system. I wouldn't be surprised if they still use old fuses and they blow all the time because we overload the electrical system.

MTA workers that work in the booth have a simple job but take it for granted, they treat their customers poorly and they're extremely rude. Simply asking for help means getting screamed at, and all they do is just sit there, but not all, but many just have this behavior that they don't want to be bothered at all.
I am discouraged to ask for assistance by MTA workers that work in the booth. They're supposed to serve the public, yet they lack proper etiquette and good customer service. Typical of the public sector.
