Most inspiring, seems Peter Brook is trying to reach the primitive harmony of group being, something primitive and primal we have lost but the schools of fish and starlings still possess, the common spirit that directs us, more powerful then the individual spirit, yet each one is mindful of the self and of the whole,That authentic group spirit is a spiritual force we need to rediscover, and theatre used to be done by shamans,a spiritual force that makes us understand the mysterious .Peter Brook is a master we must learn from.so appreciate this./from Hk.

There's the actor who played Yakov and Krishna in the Peter Brook movies. Kind of an audition for the movies.

It is a search to move from within.....he devoted his life ..it is his destiny to combine inner search and acting with meaning from inside...a real art, a true craft..Thank God for him.

they think they are doing a great investigation, but it is just poor stuff, like school theater, and alot of blablá from Peter BRook.

ruzickaw possibly. It's because you were not there, living the event. Therefore from the outside it looks like a mere exercise of the body.

ruzickaw You have to understand what Brook believed he was kicking against: the "Deadly Theatre" that he describes in The Empty Space. It's very much of its time, like Julian Beck's Living Theatre Company (which Brook greatly admired), but a necessary movement nonetheless.

@@bluebellbeatnik4945 breakthroughs in theatre are about once a generation it seems. Artaud informed Brecht, Brecht informed grotowski, Grotowski informs Brook. Idk if Peter Brook has any artistic children. Maybe Anne Bogart, Mary Overly, Tadashi Suzuki? Hard to say. I mean the linage of theatrical movements are a scattered flow. Artist can pick and choose from literally any source. Especially theatre, that lives in a space of art that is normally not seen as art, just people being, but it is art.
Edit. Also almost everything in this video is derived from grotowski’s early work.
