Great video and glad to see you get some spice in your life. My understanding is that Enchiladas = corn tortillas, burritos = flour tortillas, wet is just sauce added to the burrito.

@@AtticusDenzil But, most of the cost of a restaurant meal is not in the food, it is in the other overhead - employees, rent, utilities - all of which can run into tens of thousands of dollars or more a month depending on the restaurant.

Beard, as someone who has no actual interest in competitive eating in general, I gotta say, after discovering your vids, I started following you. The quality of your vids are top notch. No unnecessary fluff, just a quick transport, then into eating, then a catch you in the next one. You're naturally affable and funny, making the vids interesting, and you run a tight ship on editing. Makes me click whenever I see a new vid out.

That bottle of honey was meant for the Sopaipilla. You didn't have to eat it all or anything, but you traditionally put honey on Sopaipillas. Well done man. That looked delicious.

One of the main differences between enchiladas and burritos is that the enchilada is usually made with corn tortillas and the burrito is made with flour. The second difference between the two is that you eat enchiladas with a fork. They are covered in (smothered with) sauce. Burritos can be hand held food.
Incorrect. It depends on what part of Mexico you are from. Northern Mexico uses flour (or wheat) tortillas, whereas the south uses corn tortillas. I all comes down to the availability. Just like in the southern portion of Mexico you will find fish as the main meat staple. It is almost a 50/50 ratio. The same goes with burritos. My step-family is from Mexico and many still reside all over the country.

And enchiladas are baked and have crispy ends and melted cheese, burros (if not deep fried) are like a sandwich with a soft flour tort instead of bread :)
I would also say burritos are completely wrapped whereas enchiladas are rolled

Enchiladas are usually corn tortillas, and burritos are flour; enchiladas have open ends, and burritos are closed; and enchiladas are baked with the ingredients inside, whereas for a burrito the tortilla is cooked separately and then ingredients are put in it and rolled up. Good stuff, now I'm hungry 🙂

@@Appaddict01 Yes they are. Beard was asking for the difference specifically between wet burritos and enchiladas, so I left the sauce thing out, since wet burritos are also covered in sauce. 😊

Best way to eat tortilla chips fast, is the throw them under some of the burrito and make them nice soft! 👍

@@kanqquperze They probably mean he checks their website/socials and reads up on the challenge first. I assume that's what he does while planning these trips out, just browsing the internet for food challenges in different regions.
@@KiingEcho He kinda does need to act that way... There's been several videos where places screw him over for not "going by the rules" when it wasn't checked first and also places are known to put some extra in there if they know a competitive eater is coming.

If you ever run into a sopaipilla again, you’re supposed to pour the honey in the squeeze bottle inside the pocket. Makes it more fun (and interesting) to eat! Cheers Adam!

Hoping someone had mentioned this. Love those lil pockets of goodness, but definitely gotta have that honey. And enchiladas are typically made with a corn tortilla rather than the big flour tortillas that burritos are made with.

The sopapilla is kinda hollow inside, which makes it ideal to fill it full of honey. That’s why they brought that big bottle out to you lol. You would have absolutely freaked at how good that is.
Honey was in the squeeze bottle next to the sopapilla. Squeeze the honey in the middle and enjoy!!!! So good. Sorry you missed out on that.
I live in Oklahoma and have been going to Ted’s my whole life and never knew they had a burrito challenge. Thank you for making me aware of something I should have already known. You the man.

An enchilada is typically made with corn tortillas and are filled with only meat and cheese. While a burrito is made with a flour tortilla and filled with a variety of fillings.

enchiladas can be made with peppers and/or onions as part of the filling traditionally though
Traditional enchilada fillings are MUCH contested. I was taught by my neighbors from mexico that enchiladas must be filled with potato and carrot.
I didn't think you wouldn't make it by sipping water. Stay away from drinks, it will fill you up too soon.

Beard, they gave you honey to squeeze on top of or into the pocket of that sopapilla! You don’t normally eat those plain/dry. 🍯 That’s why there’s a big hole of air in the middle.

Burritos have a flour tortilla and enchiladas have corn tortilla. Enchiladas normally won't have things like beans or rice in them either. Loved the video today. As I am originally from Oklahoma, I've been loving this series.
Also, enchiladas are open on both ends while a burrito is closed on both ends, so when not wet it makes it a hand held food.

Yeah that's cheap as hell for that much food, you could feed like 3 adults with all that.
When it come to tortilla/corn chips, you wanna pile the other food on top. Especially if it's really saucy or hot in temperature. By the time you get to them, they'll be nice and floppy and soft! Great vid, Beardo!

Yeah this should’ve been the ticket. Use the tortilla as a shovel of whatever. The sauces(salsa/queso) or the mix of texmex stuff you had can be scooped by the tortilla chips to combine things.
This channel is great. Gets to the challenge pretty quickly, not much filler, and no selling us stuff

I’m Mexican, a burrito is with flour tortilla meat cheese rice beans and veggies. An enchilada is with corn tortilla chicken and Chile salsa that’s why the name is enchilada because of the Chile, enchiladas are spicy burritos are not. I hope this helps ❤ 🌯

Enchiladas are sauced and baked and also usually in a corn tortilla whereas burritos are wrapped and served without being smothered in sauce or baked. After plating a burrito is sometimes covered in sour cream, guac, salsa, or cheese sauce but the big difference is the tortilla and the baking method. Also enchiladas often onyly have one filling like a meat and burritos get loaded up with other goodies.

I was wondering why you didn’t pour the sauces over the chips to soften them up! Also, Enchilada: Meat or cheese wrapped in corn tortillas and baked with an enchilada sauce (usually red or green). Burrito: variety of ingredients (usually beans, rice, cheese, meat, salsa, etc) wrapped in a flour tortilla. Wet burrito has sauce on top, making it a bit more similar to an enchilada, but the contents are still different.
Absolutely loving your North American series since you started doing them regularly last year! There’s no shortage of food challenges to check out.

the air pocket in sopapillas is for the honey you're supposed to put in them. almost like a dessert.

I like Chilean sopaipillas (note the i) with mustard. They're savory. They do have a sweet version too called sopaipillas pasadas with an orangey buttery molasses sauce
My sister in law taught me a recipe that includes a whipped cream cheese and honey, it’s insanely delicious, and we usually serve it at breakfast.

You did great on this challenge. But to answer some questions and some unasked questions… Nachos are tortilla chips with toppings added on them. A burrito is a tortilla with toppings rolled inside. A wet burrito is the same thing with toppings and or sauces on top as well. An enchilada can be a flour or corn tortilla tightly, wrapped with filling covered with enchilada sauce, and baked. Oh, and you’re supposed to put honey inside the Sopaipilla, that’s why it was next to you.
🤣 at 7:39 you see the waitress in the back showing another employee your strategy of grabbing the tortilla, slapping it down on the fillings, and grabbing it up. Too funny

Most traditional enchiladas are tortillas dipped in sauce on both sides, both sides gently fried, then filled, then wrapped. Burritos are usually just a, "dry," tortilla filled with stuff. Also, "sopapilla," is only slightly different than a, "buenillo." One uses yeast, the other doesn't. But, they're pretty much the same thing--fried bread.
My mom and I love teds, we go to this restaurant to much.🤣

Enchilada has some form of a burrito, but you smother with sauce and cheese and bake it in the oven to have some of that saucy wrap with soft top cheese and crust edges of the tortilla because of the cheese and sauce.
And boy, is it delicious
Enchiladas are made in a casserole dish, smothered then baked. A smothered burrito is a burrito with sauce and cheese dumped on top. They have more in common than they are different.
I would have poured the sauces on the chips and let them get soggy to start but I doubt I could hit the time limit either way. Great episode!

Great job and you were pretty neat. Might have poured the salsa over the chips. Years back burritos were pretty simple hand food. Now - all the toppings. Enchiladas are with sauce and baked.
