@gf3473 They're just better at the propaganda, friend, that they make you believe that. They're mostly parroting establishment Dems positions. I've never heard anything close to a "controversial" statement from these guys with regard to say Gaza, Ukraine or Taiwan.

Yeah Trump using annexing language about Canada is concerning to say the least. You’re right about Pierre, hes the resident right-wing slogan guy. No policy talk, a history for anti-lgbt legislation, and a politicians promise he has no plans for making abortion illegal.
Chrystia Freeland has an interesting background with Ukraine and Russia, which goes a way towards explaining why Trump referred to her in the way he did.
You got it! Trump is manifesting a wide superiority complex towards Canadian. Weirdly though for the first time in my life as a Quebecois who has lived in California in the last 35 years I feel quite indignant for Canadian. I curse Trump more than ever.
Personal comment of Laura Botten: Some Canadians don't notice Trump calling us the 51st State, but the joke has been around a long time, maybe he's just too stupid to understand that it was only a joke. After all, he thinks he discovered the word groceries. I find it very insulting that our leaders aren't pushing back harder when another leader uses that "joke", I don't care if average people do. I don't think Poilievre is expecting concessions from Trump, I think they're just similar enough in personality to go head to head for their own country. Not that I'm hoping for Poilievre in general, but in our system he is set to be the next leader no matter how I vote in BC. (Similar problem to the electoral college of what votes actually "count"). Don't worry about the corgis. Fergie and Andrew are still close despite their divorce. I'm sure she's looking out for them.
Andrew/Fergie got the corgies because they had gifted them to the late Queen in the last years of her life on the understanding that they would take care of them after she died. Of all the awful things Andrew has done, this is not one.
"Gallium, germanium things our listeners have never heard of..." Why not say things Donald Trump has never heard of because your listeners aren't uneducated. Weird line Tommy.

i think Assad will be fine in russia because it's handy to be the country where fallen dictators can flee to. him being alive helps keeping other dictators in line.
Good analysis of German politics. Note the majority of AfD (right wing) voters are from the old east Germany who still like Putin. Also remember lots of the disturbance within Europe stems from BANNON who lived in Italy for a while and infiltrated Italy, France, Holland etc with his "ideas". He also got Bolsonaro from Brazil elected and Bannon was in Australia but no luck there. Aussies are a travelling folk and see what is happening overseas and see the difference.
We Canadians, hate everything Trump, sorry to Americans for the ignorance that a high percentage of Americans show. America will be a joke for the next 4?years,
He probably deserves it. What people don't realize that the fact that Qadafi ended up like that shows he had no real friends or allies in the world who would take him. Russia owed Assad for doing its dirty work in the Middle East.
"Turkey; they wanted it for thousands of years"??? Really??? Thousands of years??? Guess what. Thousands of years ago, that WAS part of "Turkey" or more accurately the ... let's see... Byzantine Empire and before that, the Roman Empire, the empire of Alexander, the Persian Empire...what am I missing?

Both of you insisted that there could not be a ceasefire with Hezbollah until there was a ceasefire in Gaza. Your pronouncements on Gaza and Lebanon aren’t worth much.
Trudeau needs to leave, YESTERDAY. Pressure is mounting and Canadians have lost trust especially women! This 51 state shit is getting old. It is insulting but consider the source!
"The Irish are sympathetic to the Palestinians because they were occupied by the British..." Are you crazy?? The Irish are on the side of justice... why wouldn't they be? Thank God Ben is the expert, Tommy
Trudeau really needs to learn from the United States and call an election for PM now so that Canadians can get properly acquainted with them prior to next year’s election. If he tries to ru himself or waits until the last moment then they’ll be absolutely cooked and open the door to a Trump of their own.

28:30 "The notion of an American oligarch trying to select the leadership of various democracies ..." Notable how you explicitly limit your concern to democracies. It implies that you have no problem with trying to select the leadership of non-democracies. Why not? Also notable that you limit your concern to direct interference by oligarchs. Because US oligarchs have been hand-in-glove with US governments for many decades. Over that time they have routinely interfered in the leadership of foreign governments, some democracies, some not, the only difference being that the oligarchs have been one-step-removed from the interference. However they have profited from it immensely. Mostly Trump is just removing the veneer or making it more transparent. It's almost as if you've been brainwashed not to think about what lies beneath the veneer - every time you get too close you kind of glide off it.
Who here feels like the postmortem from the election is complete? I feel like these guys have snapped back to their comfort zones awful quick instead of trying to think harder about how the Dem party/ strategists, etc can be not be so elitist
The NdP here in Canada literally kept the liberals in last week during a non confidence vote 😂. So yeah. Sorry if we don’t take him seriously. Our election is in Oct it he’s gotta either call an election or resign at this point. As for the comments about “governor.” We notice it, it’s bullshit and the govt has to figure that shit out.
8:30 The "stupidity" of American Foreign Policy. As I gathered life experience I eventually stumbled on a truth about other peoples' gross stupidity. More often than not it's not stupidity at all; it's simply that their objectives and values aren't what you assumed. The same applies to organizations. If your thinking hasn't calcified it's a learning opportunity for you about the other party.
I really don't know from where you guys get the confidence that Trump is gone after 4 years. Given everything over the last 8 years, do you REALLY think he's not going to try to ignore the constitution, or try to get the SC to change the rules? lol
I have confidence because even Trump can’t beat time. He’ll be 82. There is a huge aging process that happens in early 80s and it’s not like Trump takes good care of himself. At some point his diet, lack of sleep and movement will catch up. Even though he’s lazy I can’t imagine the presidency would be as relaxing as non-presidency. Not to mention if global conflicts continue or the economy does improve… something could cause the cult to implode. They usually do.
@@tanja0411Geez, I sure hope you’re right but I wonder sometimes if his bile and hatred will keep him going until he’s 100…when he goes though, there will be a nice bottle of champagne being popped 🥂
Why don't some of the republicans leak some information about alternatives to the bad picks? I realize that DeSantis was bandied about in place of Hegseth, but is he interested? And why not put out some good names (or at least not horrific) for Gabbard, RFK, Oz, and the others?
Guys, how are you still pronouncing “row” wrong? Would it help if I said it was pronounced like chowder? Imagine somebody pronouncing it choader, that’s how you sound every time you say it
There is a massive blind spot when liberals talk about reaching outside of the bubble and elite circles and connecting with the average American: Israel. Most Americans are not hostile to Israel, and while many *are* critical of *some* of the actions and activities; by and large they see Israel as a legitimate, normal, and modern nation that is just trying to defend itself the best it can. That can be all be argued, sure. The death and destruction in Gaza is a terrible consequence of the war to oust Hamas. How much suffering is allowable to achieve security for a nation is something that varies considerably in people's opinions across the World. But there is a limit to the language, accusations, and criticisms the average American is willing to accept towards what they consider to be a valuable ally and a people friendly to Americans. But ostracizing, excluding, and even erasing Israel supportive people from the Left is weakening the movement and sending people into the hands of the Right.

I hate the moralizing, as if this is the US's fault. The Syrians will never forgive us, we let Assad do this and that. (They'll never forgive us but they will take our money. This was literally said. Um, sounds like a bad idea then.) If we intervene, we don't know what to do really and mess up inevitably. When we don't intervene, we are moral villains. This latter point conveniently omits what happens when we do intervene. Sure, we could've overthrown Assad. And what comes next? Is that what we should be doing? A little thinking says, "NO."
Man does not live by global current events alone. It's their show, they can talk about whatever strikes their fancy, if it truly annoys you, why are you here?

Um, sounds like a bad idea then.) If we intervene, we don't know what to do really and mess up inevitably. When we don't intervene, we are moral villains. This latter point conveniently omits what happens when we do intervene. Sure, we could've overthrown Assad. And what comes next? Is that what we should be doing? A little thinking says, "NO."
Me: Define credible accusations of sexual assault.
You: I really really want to believe it is true.
This is just TDS run amok. Get a grip guys.
Juan Soto is not a 5 tool player. He’s a 3 tool at best.

Can we stop with the cringe sports talk on a show about global current events
Man does not live by global current events alone.
It's their show, they can talk about whatever strikes their fancy, if it truly annoys you, why are you here?
To be fair, kissing Trumps and fill in the blank authoritarian ass, seems to have become a global sport.
No, they should appeal to the broadest swath of dudes online that they can. If the mere mention of sports is too intolerable for you, Ezra Klein exists, go watch him.
@stevendoran877 here to hear the global events part of the show. Since when is providing feedback a sign someone doesnt care enough to experience something?
@shetlandapache949 I guess it was the word cringe that caught my attention. I was curious as to why someone would take the time to complain about two guys talking about something they enjoy on their podcast for a very few minutes, and if that bothers you it's really a you problem.
Might Trump be less likely to tariff a country he sees as a state? Maybe the Canadian W is for Trudeau to take the L. 😅
Ya sorry but I cannot listen to Tommy anymore. Can’t wait for him to be independent and stop lying to us. Ben is a gangster so I expect him to lie..
Damn, what a crazy interview. 🫣
Ugh, America's history of destabilizing regions and our current prez elect does not give me hope that we will do any better this time. 😔
