What games are you playing? How is your GPU holding up? Any upgrades or new builds planned or done recently? Tell your story in a new comment below!
I can't wait for the $160-170 usd 8400f to release, should make budget AM5 almost possible. 7500f would be better unless you can leverage the NPU but that's not a worldwide release yet
Imo the 3060ti is not all that bad depending on what you play. I just upgraded my GPU yesterday buying a 6700XT on the used market for 250$, but I was highly considering the 3060ti, simply because it performs good in the main game I play - Counterstrike 2. I just happened to spot the 6700XT for the same price, so got that instead.
I casually upgraded from a r5 2600 to a r9 5950x. Still using a 1080Ti until NVidia gets better or cheaper or thinner cards. Upgraded from 1080p to 1440p monitor and love it. I feel like I'm bottlenecked by Power Supply at 500W. Either that or it's the slow DDR4 RAM and SATA drives.
Please post a pc cleaning video
War Thunder and War Thunder only. No planned GPU upgrades.
$300 x570 is crazy, $200+ mobo in general is too much for a gaming only build especially for am4, good thing you helped him 🙏 hurt me seeing that
Agreed!! Glad we could help (;
@@PCBuilderChannel Hi, i have that x570 MSI motherboard for like a 3 years. It is really good motherboard but, you are right. The first thing that started to fail is the fan on the chipset. He started making unhealthy noises. When I wrote to MSI support they told me they didn't have any replacement fans and referred me to ebay or aliexpress.
@@PCBuilderChannelhi Thankyou so much for the insight 😅. So yes the 5800x3D, 3060 ti and PSU was all an upgrade previously. I got a snipe on Black Friday for the cpu only being 249$ last year, and the gpu and psu i got bundled over eBay for only 300$ for both items. I only own them because I got insane price deals I couldnt pass up.For context on my recommended upgrade, I told my friend I wanted to future proof my pc a little pit so he said I should go with that motherboard, and the storage, and the cooler to help keep temps down. The case upgrade is just me wanting a newer case. Im aware it's not needed.
( side note) there's alot of context i couldnt fit into the original message to be in the boost my build series. While im future proofing my pc and buying all new parts. Im assembling my old pc with the left over parts in my closet and selling the old pc to my friend. Hence why I was upgrading across the board. Sorry for the confusion and thank you for all of the help. Would love to get into a discord call and explain my situation. It's all over the place.
@@SZipp Great finds first of all, congratz! Nothing wrong with spending a little more for a case you enjoy that fits your build, I think your choice is great. As far as future proofing though, I feel it's a bit of a fool's errand. Some of your parts will move fine, particularly the PSU but you already have the best gaming chip they will probably release for AM5 unless they make a 5950X3D with stacked cache on both CCDs (possible but I highly doubt it). I think your next build after this (and maybe this build honestly) should be to a newer platform after you saved up. But I personally would try to get rid of a 3060 TI too if I had one, so I understand the upgrade here
@@SpoonHurler thanks man. For sure some great insight to take in.
Jason! Thanks to you and @PCBuilderChannel I’m so close to completing my build! Love your videos
Love to hear it, congrats! If you build it, it will run :) Glad we could help.
Congratulations on MicroCenter sponsor man!
Edit: I'd like to see Jason's face if I told him due to region I paid 400 dollars for 7600 lmao.
Thank you! We love partnering with them
@@PCBuilderChannelSanta Clara, California, is supposed to get a Microcenter Real Soon Now.
@@antondovydaitis2261 not trying to be a mean person but I swear if California with it terrible business climate right now gets a Microcenter before Phoenix (who are building multiple chip fabs, has google, intel, and a host of other big tech companies) I'm... well just going to continue to complain

Great video. I've been playing a lot of grey zone warfare lately and it's the first game I've played where I have 90-95% gpu utilization with 50+ cpu utalization at the same time. I have a nitro+ xtx and a 7700x and that game is very demanding (and not too optimized) but it's something new to play

Wow I never catch a video on 1 min release! Thanks for the tips Jason! I’m looking forward to upgrading my PC (i5-12Gen DDR4 3070Ti) soon!
So fast!! Hope you enjoy and best wishes on the upgrade!
In build #1 I would've Upgraded the Motherboard to a B550, skip the AIO Cooler & got a less pricey case & go with either 7700 or 7800XT for the GPU.
Same, trim the fat and find a way to get the 7800xt, a 5800x3d can probably max that thing out. Idk, go find a way to make a little money. Hell, answer surveys online, idk.
Very helpful. Thanks.

13:40 I love the Ryan George reference!
Great video as always, also, 6800 XTs are $410 for the swft version and $430 for the merc one on amazon, it was 400 at some point but it went up
Just built a new system this week. I also chose the Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA and a 7700 xt. The case is AMAZING for the price, especially considering you get 4x 140mm fans (the fans alone are $50) and the only gripe I had about the case was no rubber grommets for wiring, but its not really an issue because the cutouts are large and there is plenty of them. The 7700 xt I got for $379 and the price to performance of that card, in my opinion, is unbeatable in the current market of mid-range cards.
Congrats on your build and thanks for sharing!
Great video! I'm building a higher end pc than this (7800x3d and 7900xtx) and was thinking of that same phanteks xt pro case (ultra, not sure what the difference is as I'm writing this) and was wondering if you would suggest that for a higher end build too? I watched your most recent case video already but it wasn't on there, maybe it wasnt released yet? I was mostly considering between phanteks xt pro ultra, fractal torrent (maybe overkill but looks nice and top tier thermals and noise) and the h6 flow. I would prefer a quiet pc and its hard to find thermal testing with people doing custom fan orientation on the case, something i think would change the tesults a lot. Wondering if you could vould point me in a direction among those three. Currently lean hardest to the h6 flow.
With a premium build like that I might spend a bit more, though the Phanteks here would work fine. See our 7800X3D build guide for more options
The Deepcool CH560 is another good option and if in the US it's currently on Sale.
I just got a Teamgroup Vulcan sata drive to replace the failing hard drive in my old 2016 laptop! The thing still works great besides the hard drive, and I figured it would be a good backup for my main rig. Can't beat the prices on those TForce parts!
Quick question:
I was thinking about buying asrock b650e pg riptide wifi. But ive heard that it has poir audio quality. Can somebody share their thoughts on its audio? Is it gonna be good enough for playing games where it is important to hear your enemies like escape from tarkov? And maybe listening to spotify/youtube? Would it be better to go with msi mag b650 tomahawk that apparently has better audio but has no pcie gen5? (i know its not important, but both of those cost the same in my region so im not gonna be wasting my money buying either of them and i like asrocks look better for my build so if i could id rather pick it over msi, will audio be enough?)
I bought the XT Pro Ultra, and building it was super easy, barely an inconvenience. Using the 240 AIO should be a breeze too, I had no trouble fitting a 360 at the top. It's a fantastic case, and the I/O cables are super easy too. One thing I wish I did was snip the factory zip ties to work my cable management a little better. It being my first build, I decided to just leave it. Now I just need to figure out how to make my ARGB better. Case fans on one ARGB header, with AIO pump, radiator fans, and GPU bracket sharing the other header. GPU is controlled by Firestorm software from Zotac, G. Skill RAM by either their software or Mystic Light.
is the PBO on the ryzen cpu the auto voltage OC? there is an company that did tests and when its enabled the cpu thermal throttles itself for no reason. It makes the fans ramp up while doing simple tasks. It's absolutely necessary to disable the auto-voltage OC for the ryzen 5 am5 cpu
ASROCK X570 Creator has on-board Thunderbolt 3 x2, while my Gigabyte X570 Master (rev. 1.2) required the additional Titan Ridge AIB for 2 ports plus losing a USB 2 header cutting my external access down by two. for a grand total of $200+ more than the latter costed me. no issues with chipset fan.
Thank u for the help, Jason. I have never fully understood pc building, so I appreciate u looking at mine and helping me. Also, how did I misspell looking.
Thanks for submitting your build!! So glad we could help! Best of luck with the build and let us know how it goes
For the motherboard, instead of getting the asrock u recommended, could I get the gigabyte b650m d3hp ax?
That board is ultra budget so it’s VRMs aren’t as strong so I don’t recommend it as much
Ok, thank you
Hey what tier of psu is lc power 1000w is it good?
I also did an AM5 build for my first pc using a 7600 and msi b650m-a
silicon power 32gb cl30 6000mt/s
wd sn580 1tb
peerless assassin
and an rm750x shift which was 99 usd a month back then.
I'm just waiting now for a 2nd hand 6700xt red devil since there's no available sapphire nitro.
All in all I spent around 920 usd(+gpu). There's a bit of a markup since I'm outside US, could've lowered it more if I bought the cpu and mobo in us but using a forwarder is too bothersome
i made the chipset full copperblock on my ROG x570-e board ;p the fan was to noisy, now the gpu-fans cool the chipset ;p, i love how you see where the real value is... in specific builds.. almost finished my own build waiting for way too expensive cablemod cables.. but i completed the build i thought about in pandemic ;p on the same modified motherboard ;p
finding the right ram was tricky I think I messed up as I couldnt pick the profile in the bios the pc still runs well but is it wort loosing money and changing the ram?
just wanna say thank you for your content, just built my first pc a few days ago, with a 7800xt and 7600 non x. Super happy with the performance and my games look amazing!
Very exciting, congrats on your first build! If you build it, it will run :)) Thanks so much for tuning in!
I have an asrock b650m PG riptide Matx mobo and got it for 169.99 and I love this thing. All black with a heat sink on the IO and runs great. Already have the bios updated for the Ryzen 9000 series!
It a good board.
Yes! A new build episode!😁
BMB for the win! Thanks for watching! :)
@PCBuilderChannel I currently have an Intel Core i7 8700K CPU and an RTX 3060 12GB GPU. Which one should I upgrade first? The CPU (and motherboard and memory) to a 13700K or the GPU to an RTX 4060 TI or 4070 TI? What is everyone's thoughts? Additional information: I'm on a fixed budget and likely won't be able to upgrade something like this again for quite awhile.
P.S. Yes, I'm sure that I want an Nvidia GPU, as I do a lot of work in Stable Diffusion and that basically requires an Nvidia card. 🤷🏼
Did you reference Stone Cold Steve Otter at the beginning??
Latest upgrade is a 7800xt from a 6650xt on my 5800xt build was looking at the GRE but the price difference of nearly £100/ $126 was a bit prohibitive .currently playing horizon forbidden west and the 7800xt is smashing it at 140 fps high settings
That X570 motherboard looks like the equivalent of the decked out station wagon from National Lampoon’s Vacation.
haha!
Your recommendations kind of changed my life haha. From Xbox on a 1080 to 4080 super on a super wide 249 fps? Hell yeah dude.
Heck yes that’s great to hear! Glad we could help!
about to go from xbox to 7800x3d

@@kelley09162 Thank you very much, I will post it now.
i do personally prefer the x570 chipset for am4 but i admit the msi i bough was kind of expensive and yea it has faster lanes but performance can go other places i guess . but for me the 3080 i got was all i could get at the time couldn't find a 3080 ti or 3090 to move up to so i got a Samsung 980 pro drive and a x570 chipset board
Any word on the massive AMD cpu price cuts? I'm definitely thinking about buying a 7800X3D with the prices today!
I have a 2tb sata ssd for gaming, on top of my 500gb main drive, and it works very well. It's a solid option.

If i upgrade or downgrade my Gpu within the Same Series so RTX 3070 to a RTX 3080/ti/3090/ti should i run DDU and uninstall the nvidia drivers and reinstall them or just swap them out and it be fine? asking cause recently upgraded and selling my old gpu and some people want to test gpu before buying so not sure weather i could just swap over or run uninstall proscess i did uninstall anyways to be safe but would like to know for future
You never need DDU if switching a gpu for the same brand
Still trying to build me a midrange budget pc for under $1000. So far I only got a case which is the Apevia Prism and have a R5 7500f cpu on the way and I also plan on getting the ASRock B650 RS Pro wifi mobo as well. I'm using my PC mainly for work more than gaming. But I do have some games on it.
I won a 4070 ti in a competition so have swapped out my 2060 super and also my 16gb(2x 8) 3200mt's for 16gb(2x 8) Kingston Fury Beast 16gb(2x 8) 3600mt's, the rest of my rig is Asus b450m TUF Gaming Pro II/5600X - H212 cooler/1tb Crucial P5+/ CM 650w 80+ Gold in a Be Quiet 500XD Matx case. Hello mr pc builder, I've following your videos and plan on building a good rx7900 xtx and r7 7800x3d build on june, I'm a bit stumped at what case to pick, I'm looking at the torrent compact but it's a bit older and I'd love to hear your recommendations if there's a new case that outpeforms or has similar performance
Depends on your budget, but the Deepcool CH560 and Montech King 95 Pro are two good options Jason recommends.
@@kelley09162 thank you, the montech king is overpriced where I live at about 1500 usd (insane) so I'll probably check the ch560 its about 50 usd less than the torrent compact but is it better?

Picked up one of those Cooler Master CPU coolers at Newegg for that great price of $59.95. Amazon lists it for $99. Thanks for the tip.
Yes Mirco Center prices match’s. I always check other websites before purchasing. Also it lowers the price for everyone for a week or two when you do it.
Hi Jason, I currently have i5-13600kf paired with PNY 4080s and 32GB@3200 DDR4.
Is it worth upgrading to DDR5 now or maybe wait for the prices to go down?
No it's not currently worth it.
DDR5 prices aren't bad but I don't think the performance difference is enough to justify the price.
Build1 upgrade. Newegg get a B550 Thomahawk and the ASRock 7800 XT challenger for $620. Alternatively stick with the 7700XT (back down to $379) and add Deepcool CK560 for $589
Hello Jason, love your videos!
I am planning a budget build with a ryzen 5 5500 with rx 7600 8GB (much affordable in my country)
The question is shall i get a b450m ds3h or a b550m ds3h? Will i lose some performance getting a b450m?
Because b550m is 40% more expensive compared to b450m
Will be using pcie 3 nvme for gaming
Hope you have a great day!
Either motherboard is fine, but I wouldn't get the 7600. Either jump up to the 7600XT or 6700XT/6750XT, or go down to the 6600.
Check out our recent Best Budget Builds 2024 video for a great sample 5500 build
Very good info, was thinking of upgrading my Gigabyte x370 gaming 5 mobo from a 1600x to a 5700x3d. I’m Just not sure it’s supported. The latest bios is for a 5800x3d, which costs an additional $100 or so.
*EDIT* - I'm not sure I believe the CPU support list looking at the bios notes, but there was just a bios released in March 2024 which should support it as it is the new AMD AGESA version.
(OLD)I checked that board support list and it does say it is supported with bios T51d/ F51g (or newer). You can check the CPU support list here (make sure this is the correct board) www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AX370-Gaming-5-rev-10/support#support-cpu
For the first build upgrade , I'd get the fastest gen3 2TB drive (970 evo+) plus a good 7900GRE .
I like the recommendations for SZipp but considering he plays mainly competitive games with high fps already I would only upgrade the SSD to a sata as well 2-4 tb and maybe wait for am6 or a crazy 9-10000X3D.
The new gpu is indeed the main increase 15-20% but it doesn't seem like he needs it so I would wait some new generation.
While not giving performance matching a good monitor with good spec (color accuracy 2k with 144hz good panel etc..) will give a better "upgrade" experience than some performance upgrade.
I was thinking recently that you always make videos about certain components that you SHOULD get, when I think you should have a few videos about components that you absolutely SHOULDN'T get. It'd be nice to have a dedicated video of what components to avoid rather than just a section of a regular video
Good suggestion!
With my victus hard to find power supply I ordered one NVR made it here so got refund but now I just drop LP 4060 straight in with draws more power than rx6400 but hope I am the right choose wat do u think
Gpu is on the way but isn't here yet
Honestly the first guy should just get a 4070super. And then upgrade cpu cooler when he has more money. Everything else is fine. 7700xt is not that big of an uplift over the 3060ti
a stock cooler on a 5800x3d wow. my normal 5800x wasn't able to be cooled with the giant noctua cooler , the builder had to put a 360mm AIO to cool it enough but i also know thats not normal and i probably have a problem

It seems like someone told the first person that his MB was the issue because it was old, a lot of misinformation out there sadly.
I was really curious which GPU you were going to choose for the first build. That 7700xt is solid. I would recommend that person sell their old GPU and put all of that into the budget as well and get a 1440 monitor.
My favorite PC Builder series, after all this time lol.
Thanks so much! And thanks for your continued viewership :) BMB for the win!
Better off with B550 board, can get ASRock B550M PG RIPTIDE for $99, has dual M.2 slots (one Gen 4x4 and other is Gen 3x2), and has onboard 2.5Gb ethernet port for future higher speed LAN/WAN connections. I am in the process of swapping over parts in my network to 2.5Gb since 2Gb fiber should be installed in the next few weeks.
Oh, come on, $650 could make the upgrade machine kick ass!
1. Keep everything except Drives and GPU.
2. Invest $18 on an M.2 external USB enclosure.
3. Upgrade 1 - 2TB P3 for motherboard M.2 slot. You need the external enclosure above to clone the existing drive. You can also use it with an old SSD afterward (it will be slow), but it is great for backup, copying data to other devices, etc. The spinner goes to the circular filing cabinet under the desk.
4. Upgrade 2 - GPU go 4070 Super (if NVIDIA) or 7900GRE (If AMD)
Kick ass stealth system.
The great thing here is your next upgrade would be the MB/CPU/RAM, etc but keep the GPU.
I can understand what the first person was going for. It looks like they're trying to build a solid foundation to add a powerful GPU to later. However, it definitely went a bit off the rails.
Hey Jason,
i have a Ryzen 9 5900x and 3070
x570 Aorus and 32 GB Ram
my pc quite lagging while streaming Star citizen and other games.
i dunno why, Internet and OBS is also not the problem.
Now i thought about upgrading to 4080 super.
What u think?
Sadly that CPU is going to bottleneck that GPU quite a bit so I don't recommend that. If you plan to upgrade to that high a GPU in the future I'd drop in a 5800X3D first. See our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video for more
@@PCBuilderChannel maybe Go for
Ryzen 9 5950x3d and 4080 super?
I'm searching your channel for a 4090 build, any point of reference for a video or a link to a pc parts picker build I can use? budget isn't really an issue, just looking for something that is going to crush fps at 4k ultra settings for AAA titles. (Mainly play COD btw, don't know if that matters)
Here's a build I made for you. Just note AMD may be announcing new CPUs next month.
It's list / gX4R34 in PC Part Picker.
For a no budget just best gaming pc possible see our 7800X3D build guide!
Why recommendation of the 7700XT on the first build when for 20 bucks less you can get the 6800?
Also solid if its still in stock!
For the first one, can't he go for a 2To Nvme and a 7800XT/GRE if he resell is 500Gb SSD and 3060Ti ?
Total: $612.88 This would be better for FPS/$.

Jason we love you very much
I have been waiting on this ep
Boost My Build time!!
The long-term value of that B350 is amazing. Let's hope B650s endure similarly.
Yes!
Sorry to bother with a random question but do you think my Ryzen 5 5600 needs an upgrade? I'm running it on a Gigabyte B550m Ds3h but the thing is I have an RTX 3090 on it
Yes because of the GPU. A 5700X3D would be a great upgrade for you.
Agreed, 5700X3D is a good choice!
i just got all new parts for a new pc and i got a 7800x3d is the 4070 super good enough for it or should i get a better one?
4070super is totaly fine but if you have more budget you should get a 4070tisuper or rx 7900xt or even a 4080
Its the minimum I would pair with it. See our 7800X3D build guide for more
Hi, started thinking of building a pc recently. Should I go with ryzen 5600 and a Rx 6750xt or a ryzen 7600 and a Rx 7600. The motherboard and ram prices for the am5 socket are much expensive as compared to the am4 in my country
Edit: for example a good kit of ddr5 ram 6000 MHz cl30 costs about 169 dollars (converted price)
5600 and 6750XT.
The 7600 7600 combo is a CPU GPU imbalance.
@@kelley09162 many say you shouldn't build a new pc on am4 socket. What's your suggestions?
@@amangill3754 well Jason doesn't say that and he's an expert so I trust him.
@@kelley09162 Thanks for your time. Much appreciated. Really new to pc building stuff and watching his videos
@@amangill3754 yea Jason says AM4 is totally fine for budget builders like yourself.
The dog picture cracked me up HAHAHAHAHA
Question i want a 4070 super will i need to upgrade my cpu and or watts to go with it i have a ryzen 5 7600 and 600 watts
CPU no. The 7600 and 4070 Super are a good combo.
For the PSU you need to put your build into PC Part Picker and times the watts by 1.5.
What Ty said. That CPU is fine but hop over to our Best PSU 2024 video and follow the method there to see what wattage you will need for your new full build
Lets get those Likes up and running! 4:45 it does make me laugh, pretty tight haha. Thank you PC Builder Jason for lovely video! Thanks to your videos I got some knowledge and managed to buy my first PC, second hand but hardly used with almost best components and still in warranty.
Congrats on your PC!! Sounds like you nailed it (:
@@PCBuilderChannel Yes good timing and good luck! thank you, will keep watching your videos and keep shouting out your name/channel at work!
Hello! I’m sorry if I missed it but Where do I submit for this I’m new and trying to build my first PC soon I have 4000$ but have no clue what I’m doing would really like a professionals help haha
Post yours in the Community Post asking for Submissions.
Mays is closed, but I can try and help and then you can submit yours again when June's come around.
How can I send you my build info for help? love the videos!!
He has a Community Post every month asking for submissions. He'll have another one in June.
I agree Microcenter is the place to go if you are going to build your own PC..
Anyone within driving distance of one should definitely check out their options when building
Im building a new pc and wanted to know which direction i should go in. Either a 7900GRE with a 7800x3d or 7900xt with 7600x. It comes out to same price. Im feeling towards the better GPU lower CPU combo.
Either is good, but the max FPS is likely the 7600X and 7900 XT combo outside of some very specific CPU bound titles (like running CSGO at 1080p on low settings). The great thing is that you can always drop in a 9800X3D sometime in the future if it needs a boost, or skip the 9000 series and drop in a Zen 6 CPU in the following gen which we've heard will also be on AM5.
@PCBuilderChannel yh thats why i was feeling more towards the 7900xt thanks for the reply. Where do we submit our builds for Boost my builds, i want to send mine in
Once a month we put out a community post where we call for the lists! Next round will be in June. Or we are doing a channel member Boost My Build/Q&A live stream this Saturday ff you want to join in on that fun. Click the join button under the video for more on that
I have an MSI Ventus RTX 2070 Super and an I7 10700k. I am considering upgrading to a RTX 4070 super or at least a RTX 4070. Will that work or is that going to bottleneck the hell out of my CPU? Later on i will upgrade my CPU within a few years. (I play on 1440p and upgrade GPU once every 4-5 years)
10700K is a bit weaker than a Ryzen 5600X in gaming. My advice would be to go with a Radeon RX 7800 XT to help the CPU bottleneck (and get 16GB of VRAM) due to the differences in CPU overhead between AMD and NVIDIA GPUs (see Hardware Unboxed's testing of this, can be substantial at times). But I think that system could handle a 4070 and if there isn't much price difference then go 4070 Super.
Thanks for the input, i was considering the rx 7800 xt, but i believe in dlss and frame generation, and i am a bit scared of switching to amd (gpu vice), since everyone i know have regretted switching to amd. But yes i agree, 12 gb vram is not as future proof as a 16gb vram gpu, and here in denmark the rx 7800 xt is cheaper than the rtx 4070 and 4070 super.
Total: $612.88 This would be better for FPS/$ on the first build.

If you want to keep your RAM and your GPU I'd go 5700X3D. See our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video for more on how to think about upgrading
@@PCBuilderChannel ok thanks I will be buying it then I'm thinking of pairing it with b550 MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus would it be sufficient or do I have to get X570?
If i wanna build a PC on maybe October or more later, should I buy 7800xt or wait until 2025 for 8000 series GPU?
7900 GRE is only a bit more and better
