The interior monologue of Emma the pirate-explorer ably supported by Einstein (Robin) and a shoe-stealing fox (AWOL). Marvel at Emma's John Cleese Whipping the car impressions. You are just doing it Emma, you really are impressing us all wow.Tell you what your council should be so ashamed of themselves for not helping you out, they are a disgrace and l hope they see this comment.Sending big hugs 🤗
Pace yourself Emma - the headache is possibly telling you that you need more rest in between, or shorter sessions of digging/pulling! As a change of task, why not bring the kids down and start to fill the stacked pallets with all the logs, sticks and leaves you've got already - the insects will thank you for the shelter as the weather starts to get colder. Leave some undergrowth around this and any frogs around will be able to overwinter there too, and feed on some bugs, and they'll keep the slugs down for next year. You're helping to create growing space and maintain a living ecosystem then. look after yourself. 💚💚
With the awful pendulous sedge, I recall I discovered a technique whereby I got the fork into the middle of the clump and pushed outwards to the perimeter, and took it out, piece by piece. It wasn't expecting that. While I was trying to dig it out from the edges, it stood immovable as a rock. Now if I see one of its seedlings, it is out before you can say "bloomin' sedge".
So refreshing to see the reality of taking on an abandoned plot - something TV gardening shows tend to gloss over. You are working so hard Emma. It's a huge job, but the satisfaction you're going to feel once it's up and producing will be unbeatable. More power to both your elbows! P.S. Your klepto-fox is becoming a real character.
Hi Emma, last weekend my husband had me chopping the large branches that fell in the garden. I remembered I had a cheap reciprocating saw, it was cordless. Went through the branches like butter. I recommend you should get one. They come in handy all the time x
So loving ya gardening adventures, I'm a basic volunteer gardener learned so much off a landscape gardener called jessie n can relate to your videos Emma...its worth all the hardworking, well gardening is so much fun can guarantee the weather volunteered at a community garden in bradford west yorkshire but plants raking health n wellbeing meeting new friends. Hey Emma, I have been binge watching your videos today as we are going to go and have a look at an allotment tomorrow. We are going to have an allotment diaries channel too as we want to document our journey. I love how normal and genuine you are 😊
You V can make a beautiful Christmas planter with plant lights for outside a door with them beautiful logs at different heights if you ever wanted to x
You are doing fantastic Emma. Have loved watching your progress,so inspiring. I was fighting with a weedy parch a couple of months ago and considered giving up one of my plots, then Dory spoke to me and I’ve just paid the rent on both for the next year, so I just keep no-digging 🎉
Loving the nature bit of video bug hotel we have some in community garden braðford, chopping twigs for those bugs feeling of achievement to lovely nature in garden..its all the nature in garden sense of accomplishment makes gardening.n hardworking worthwhile Emma!
Gardening is a long term thing. As you say, just keep plodding on. It's not instant. It slowly changes over time. Just like a tree growing, the allotment slowly evolves into a thing of beauty. 😊
Loving all your vlogs Emma, your strength and determination are amazing. You make me laugh. I wish I had your strength and energy. Keep going luv and take care. Look after yourself.❤️
We’ve moved from the uk to Australia two weeks ago 😂 still watching your videos ❤️ I feel your pain with the spiders in the Uk 😭 luckily haven’t seen many here yet 😅
Emma you need to beg steal or borrow a slash hook . Perfect for clearing out those overgrown rat havens. My new diary has arrived but I'm not allowed to see it until Christmas.
I have been enjoying ur videos 4 a while now u keep me laughing and your so inspiring and can't say enough great things about all ur videos, good luck from us here in the southeast USA
I am absolutely loving this, it’s so encouraging and watching our own dr Doolittle at work with the wildlife is also fun! 😊. The adventures of Emma or Emma’s adventures or Emma the adventurer 😂 I’m almost expecting game footage music as you work your way through 😂. I should grab some popcorn for each instalment, I love it so much 😊
Hi I think I read somewhere that spiders don't like peppermint so you could put some in your shed, my husband got a rechargeable mini chainsaw for about 30 quid and it is brilliant.
Try putting conkers in your shed. You can string them and hang them or just place in corners around windows etc. The idea is that spiders do not live in horse chestnut trees there's something about the oils/smell (who knows) that they dont like. Ive been using them for years as like you I hate spiders
I think you doing a great job.... and doing great ...you are making more work lifting the membrane...you are exposing the bare ground which soon fill up with weed seeds... .personally I would leave it down and cut it later when I new where I was putting my beds and paths....also I would weed kill the plot to save time and less work... so I could plan the layout of the plot. Before the weather turns...
Well done Emma, By the way, I see those pallets as materials to add a couple more bays to your composter, you are going to have loads to compost and when rotted down it will a great help to your plot and a money saver.
Are you allowed bonfires? It might be a way of disposing of all the twiggy dried grass stuff you have accumulated. You discovered some very nice short tree trunks this time that will make good edging to no dig beds. Keep going!
You kept me laughing. 😊 I love watching you working on your plots. It looks good. I love your Robin. He's lovely. Congratulations on your new book. I'm so proud of you. ❤
Loving ya shed my lovely landscape gardeningfriend jessie has a shed on community gardening really well made but door needed serious tlc it kept getting stuck ahhh it's sorted now 100 tries later but defo can relate to your shed Emma!
Loving watching your progress you are so encouraging to others and funny it’s good entertainment and I want to encourage you by saying you are doing a grand job just keep at it little by little. Your children and hubby will be proud of you. 👍🙋🏻♀️
Great video Emma the new plot is starting to take shape & i love the pallet bug hotel idea & the birds will love it too poking around for tasty morselsx
Conkers apparently keep spiders at bay, it's the time of year to find some decent conkers too. Place them in the corners. I've not tried it but seems easier than burning the shed 😅. I'm using a stick to get in my shed, a quick twirl gets rid of anything in my way.
Way to go, Emma! Keep on going a little by little a little becomes a lot definitely slow and steady wins the race! It’ll be lovely keep envisioning what you want it to look like your cut garden for flowers your pollinator section companion, planting your crop rotation. It will be beautiful.
Hi Emma. I'm in the USA. You are really inspiring me to tackle these vine weeds in my backyard. I will make use of the space in the spring to plant more produce. LOVE watching your contents. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Are you allowed to have patio slabs on your allotment site? I feel sure that a slabbed part of the plot with growing pots would save your soul weed wise xxx good job though 👏 👍

You are strong Emma for such a slight framed woman .
You should wear protective goggles so you don't poke your eye out with a loose stick
Are you allowed bonfires? It might be a way of disposing of all the twiggy dried grass stuff you have accumulated. You discovered some very nice short tree trunks this time that will make good edging to no dig beds. Keep going!
