Radar is only useful when no one is using lights on a wide-open road at night. The use-case for a radar detector is very limited. It's useless in the woods and off-trails. On the road, you are better served by adding lights and mirrors to your bike/trike. And, mirrors are far cheaper and more reliable than a device that is probably not only to survive a season of rain, sleet, or snow. Not to mention battery consumption. To help idiot/careless drivers notice you, add flags, streamers, and a light pole/saber to the back of your trike.
Will this radar unit work with my Garmin Edge 130?
Yes! Both Varia units are compatible with the Edge 130

Garmin $200. Bike mirror $20. Hmmmmm!
Yes certainly quite the price difference but technology and safety are never cheap!
