One point I would like to mention is that I believe there may potentially be another member of the wild hunt with similar armour seen later in the game, however this member is defeated much more easily then nithral (he doesn't use any of the special abilities used by nithral) and to my knowledge is not named. However this may point to the fact there are other ranks within the wild hunt that are never told to us (such as say a captain). I believe the current known ranks are warrior, navigator, general and I suppose in Eredin's case king. Perhaps cdprojektred simply reused the player model (similar to how they did with the coroner's higher vampire form). Or maybe whatever nithral's place was in the wild hunt was passed down to this new member.
IMO they have just reused the model in the battle of Kaer Morhen. IMO thats not even bad, they just wear the same armor, Nithral is just more powerful.
I’d always thought that Nithral must have been pretty powerful and high-ranking. After all he accompanies Eredin and Caranthir on a very important mission and he uses very unique abilities. My thoughts are that CD Projekt red wanted a cool enemy for that mission, but didn’t want to tamper with the existing ‘big three’ generals. Eredin and Caranthir decided to leave him, thinking he could challenge Geralt, which speaks for his powers in their eyes. I think he must just be an underdeveloped character made to give a unique boss fight for that mission.
I always thought of him like some kind of bodyguard. Powerful enough to defeat dangerous enemies, but not very important to Eredin himself. I mean, yeah, they trusted him to defeat Geralt AND Keira, but they were also aware that he could lose... and either way they get what they want: more time to search for Ciri and no one to disturb them. If he was in a high-ranking position they wouldn't want to risk someone like that in a 1 vs 2 fight. I believe they thought: "If he wins, great... if not, well who cares, we won enough time".
That's part of what I'm thinking as well, I think he may be a captain or lieutenant who is exceptionally skilled and powerful and is being groomed for general, or I should say, was lol killed that fucker real good
I think he was some high ranked commander but a little lower than imlerith. He was possibly a scout that searches for ciri or any other important data sent by imlerith
You know for a second I was like “Nithral who??” Then I saw the cutscene, “ oh it’s that asshole that I hate fighting!” other than Caranthir of course 😂🤦🏻♀️
Given that you dont see any other standard Hunt troops wearing armor like his, I would say, like others have, that he's a lieutenant or a commander below imlerith. I will say, on an unrelated note, I was disappointed that there werent many variants of wild hunts soldiers. We only ever face the same soldiers and hounds every time, not accounting the boss battles. It would've been great to have fought bigger scale hunt members. Maybe a massive, more bulky hound, or have made some quick deadly two bladed soldiers. I don't know, just felt the variations of the hunt felt overly minimalistic. That being said, I loved the boss battles, Fighting Imlerith on the mountain will forever be the most thrilling one on one battle on death march. Its freaking goosebump inducing when you dodge almost hit just right and give that satisfying finisher.
I think he probably was a student of one of the generals or maybe he could've been the bodyguard for one of them either would explain why he was there and why he had those abilities.
Eredin is the king of the Wild Hunt Caranthir is the Mage Imlerith is the General of the Wild Hunt’s army Nithral could be like the Brute, in charge of taking out any small obstacles. He could also be like a bodyguard to Eredin
Hey love the channel it's always great to learn more about the world of the witcher and its characters. I was wondering if you could make a video on Iorveth or some of the other Sco'a tael in the future. They're one of my favourite factions so it would be really interesting to see a video on them in the future. Have a great day and keep up the good work
Thank you for posting these videos. I am so obsessed with all things in the Witcher universe and I love learning more. I usually watch your videos while I’m playing Gwent lol
@@donaldtusk2678 I cannot remember exactly why but I remember he explains that on an optional dialogue when you arrive to KM in the witcher 3 and ask him why he hates being a witcher or some sort. I'm pretty sure this lore is not mentioned in the quest of the trolls/filactery ("Final Test") nor while drinking with Eskel & Yen ("No place like home"). Just talk to him randomly while being in KM.
You should do a lore about the area at the beginning of the cave, where Keira mentioned that the area was an Elven Port. Not sure if there's anything mentioned in detail about it other than it being one of the locations where the elves first arrived or something like that.
love your videos man. i was wondering if you could make a video showing the locations of the griffin witcher from basic to master please. i'm on my 5th playthrough and still can't complete the full set because even when i get all of the treasure maps i don't get all of the scavenger hunt missions.
In the armed forces there’s a fair few ranks before general. Major, Captain, Lt commander, Lt, sub Lt, Warrant Officer, chief / colour Sargent our staff Sargent etc. I’d think of him as one beneath a general for sure.
I think he was a bodyguard who was used to test Geralt skilled after escaping and losing his memory from the wild hunt. You also fight some one similar in the witcher 1, at the end of the game .
What about a "simple" Navigator? Geralt seems to know the navigator figure and since we know for certain that in Avallac'h's hideout there are Eredin + Caranthir + a Navigator. As you said, he owns magic skills, including generating dimensional portals.
Ah, and about the armour: I think that, if not equal, it is very very similar (also at face level) to the Wild Hunt warrior killed by Zoltan during the Kaer Morhen battle, just after the cutscene of Ciri asking Vesemir the permission to enter in battle.
I figured the reason that he had the big axe was because he was a headsman and the reason they brought him along was to execute the elf ciri was with if they found him
Wait I have been going over the lore videos were almost all of the wild Hunt generals created by CDPR and not the author? Well then what was WH like in the books?

He's Nithral...NOT Neethral...short sound on the 'I' I think he was on the way to becoming a general. He is an early-ish fight, his General training had barely begun, I think his death had been forseen which is why he was sent there.
Since Nithral is dead by the time you meet Avallach I'd say it's pretty much meaningless for Avallach to mention Nithral. Which is why he didn't mention Nithral.
I just fought Imlerith for the first time and he was way easier than Nithral. Mind you, I spent about 20 hours fucking around before fighting Nithral so I certainly wasn't new or underleveled lmao
@@WitcherGeorge I'm just thinking if it's similar to the way it even works in one piece regarding the navy. Fleet admiral, Admirals, vice admiral and then foot soldiers. Just a thought. 🤷

A low rank random riding with the Top 2 constantly? Come on now. A low rank in an army riding with the Top 3? Nah

Nithral
Eredin
Imlerith
Caranthir
Avallac'h

I'd bet when they come up with these names, Andrej Sapkowski turns himself on his head and whatever sound he makes becomes a name.
I only now realised the other two Wild Hunt in that mission were Eredin and Caranthir themselves
Yeah, I always assumed that he was imlerith in the cutscenes. Never connected obvious dots, I guess.

I like his Axe. That’s why he’s my favorite Wild Hunt Character
can you do a video on naglfar ?

Very possible he's somewhat of a bodyguard for Caranthir, since, you know, very powerful forcefield + a big ass axe
I don't think he is weak at all I mean he fought Gerald AND Keira
I definitely get the impression that he is probably a lower ranking officer of the Wild Hunt. Like a Lieutenant.
I think geels or how is it written was something like the last reserves type general like if things would go sour eredin would call him
It was nithrals first day on the job when he encountered geralt
I figured the reason that he had the big axe was because he was a headsman and the reason they brought him along was to execute the elf ciri was with if they found him

the wild hunt look like chaos warriors from Warhammer fantasy
Damn I was thinking the same thing few minutes ago, they're like elves chaos warriors...
What do you think are there more of Odim 's kind
he's just a extra to make the quest more exciting
He might be ge'el lieutenant, sense ge'el is not traveling hi got picked to cover his place.
I think he was supposed to be a bigger character but they cut him out since he wasn't in the books and people would be confused or some shit

on deathmarch he was very strong he also can healing himself
UA-camr : "Niethral"
