    I had both and the 35 mm F1.4 by far is one of my favorite lenses ever. I sold the F2.

    I think some people misunderstand the softness of a lens when shot at wide-open aperture with character. Actually, Most lenses when used to their wide apertures are soft. The softness of a lens gives an image a certain character. All my sigma art prime lenses 35, 50, 85 and 135mm are soft when used at full aperture.

    Thank you for this! I have the f2 and love it but really needed to know this.

    I had the f/2 Fujicron for a couple of years before I bought the 35mm f/1.4 and after the first outing with the faster lens, I have hardly used the slower lens.
    The 35mm f/2 is a terrific lens and capable of giving great images, but as an old film shooter from many decades ago, the 35mm f/1.4 is the first digital-only lens that gives me results that remind me of what I got on film with my Leica 50mm Summicron. I know it is a cliche' to say the word "character", but yes, there is some intangible something from the faster lens that makes it special for my photography.
    Also, my thought process matches yours in thinking that I'd keep both lenses so that I could have bad weather capability. A good idea, but my f/2 lens hasn't been on a outing in years.

    I've watched the technical reviews on both lenses but that does not make the decision any easier given both are sharp in the center and they each have different strengths. Appreciate the honest opinion on the 2 lenses.

      Tuve ambos. Si tu prioridad es la nitidez, escoge el f2. El f1.4 es mas suave, el render de color es menos contrastado y saturado. Ambos son muy buenos. Yo finalmente me quedé con el f1.4 y vendí el f2.

    How about Fuji 35mm f1.4 vs Fuji 33mm f1.4?

    • @Tudor_Mateescu
      @Tudor_Mateescu  Рік тому +1

      Well, the 33mm is much bigger, heavier, with better image quality - more digitally looking, and not film, sumicron looking like the 35mm F1.4, and with better AF. For PRO work where size and price doesn't matter, is probably a better choice.

    Hey Tudor let me start off by saying thank you for your channel, it has really helped me in this photography journey of mine. You done so much for the community 🤝🏾 I have a question. I recently got the LUX Junior and I seen your videos on it. I can’t seem to link it to my XT5 I’ve done so much research but I can’t get them to communicate can you help or make a video about it ?

    • @Tudor_Mateescu
      @Tudor_Mateescu  Рік тому

      Thank you very much! Please put XT5 just in the mechanical shutter mode - MS. And it should work without problems.

      I didn't use x-t1, but I would expect it to work slow... With some missed focuses. This is how it worked on my xe2s

    I feel 23 1.4 would make more sense for someone already having sigma 18-50 2.8? Thoughts everyone? I am fairly new to fuji world. Appreciate your support.

    • @nikofox890
      @nikofox890 Рік тому +1

      It doesn’t make more or less sense because you’ve covered the 23 with the sigma lens as well. Ask yourself what kind of photography you wanna do, in which environments and what is your preferred field of view. Check your pics and if you find that you tend more to 23 than hit the buy button on 23 2.0 WR or get a Viltrox 27 1.2 Pro if you like it big and aperture wise fast. Arguably the best in between solution. You can take portraits as well as do street. The 35 1.4 R is unbeatable in terms of character. You won’t find nowhere a 23 with this kind of sauce. Maybe the 18 2.0 is almost comparable to the 35 1.4 magic. Those two have similar rendering I find. To begin with it can be very difficult to find the perfect lens. This will come with experience. The fastest leaning curves in composition will bring a tighter lens. Have fun

    Funny: I'm watching this in m8d December 2024, the same day you raved about the new Viltrox 35mm f/1.7 as the best 35mm choice!

    • @Tudor_Mateescu
      @Tudor_Mateescu  Місяць тому

      Viltrox wasn't on the market yet. The only advantage now of the 35mm f1.4 is the character and the aperture ring.

    I have both lenses. The 1.4 only for a week now. In a direct comparison of the same subjects, I can't see any difference beside field of depth. Maybe at some point I will find the magic. In my opinion, the f2 can keep up with f1.4. Comparison video of the two using same examples would be great.

    Best 35mm lens is a Leica M mount lens for the Leica M body that you really want. Stop kidding around as if the Fujifilm brings you a little bit closer. It's not the same. Not even close. Save your money from all of this GAS and get a Leica. It's what you really want.
