Agree...Star Trek Picard is awful. STD isn't much better. The cast/crew on both shows aren't as likable as Star Trek, TNG, DS9 and Voyager....even Enterprise was better.
I feel like Mike from Redlettermedia when he and Rich did their ReView of the show and Mike just sighed and said "I miss Star Trek". What a mess of a show. What happened to the introspection and sincerity that Trek used to have? Moments like when Kirk says "I feel young again" at the end of Wrath Of Khan. Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it. Since when did the Federation stop being an example of hope in the Galaxy? It may sound corny but since when did love and helping others become uncool? Where did the hope that set Star Trek apart from other Sci Fi go? Now it's just desperately trying to be cool and edgy. It's sad. Everyone should just pretend the last 10 years of imposter Trek never happened and play the Star Trek Frontiers Board game. At least that feels like Trek.

Star Trek Picard sucks. Agree with everything said here. What gets me most is the choppy editing, constant shaky cam, and horrendous shot blocking when it comes to two characters having a conversation. No shot lasts for more than 3 seconds and the camera is whizzing around so much that it makes the show hard to pay attention to. Remember when actors actually played out scenes?
From (highly overpaid) producer+writer Alex Kurtzman, comes another Star Trek series with style over quality substance. To paraphrase Jean Luc - Disengage!
@Ewan Callister The Mummy is more recent, and it was his project. It was an unmitigated disaster. But I guess he has money in the bank from writing endless shitty blockbusters.
Rich Evans: "I think my brain is numb...where's the more nuanced exploration of Picards character?" Mike Stoklasa: "Picard...Picard uhm...where wha...do you remember the Ice Skating scene?" Mikes "therapy sessions" with Rich on Redlettermedia are the best thing out of this trainwreck. Thanks Alex "The Hack" Fraudman.
Like some people in the UK I have only recently got Disney plus and only three episodes deep into the mandalorian. Already I can tell that it's far better than Picard and more respectful to the source material. And I am definitely more a trek rather than a wars person.
A terrible show. At times I actually wanted some ham-fisted attempt to pursue an agenda but no, just boring nonsense, I'm sure there were hypocritical messages from Patrick Stewart... but what's the point when you're asleep.
The whole Freecloud stuff is lifted clearly from Blake's 7 Freedom City in the episode "Gambit" - one character even has an eyepatch (Travis- who also displayed a dodgy French accent in anther episode). Way to go, Klutzman (or is this just another "regular" sci-fi trope like the blue Tardigrade?)! Best things about ST Picard? Jerry Ryan, Jonathan Frakes, and Marina Sirtis. Worst things about ST Picard? Sir Patrick Stewart, Eric Klutzman, Michael Chabon, and the rest of the writers... All in my opinion.
It's a shame actors returned as charecters only to be given not great material Sarah Connor Luke Skywalker Jean-Luc Picard Good luck to the next Returning legends
@Ewan Callister I agree with you Ewan, they seem to be going towards a vibe to appeal to the og fans of Ghostbusters. Hope you're well anyway during the crisis anyway m8 nice chatting with ya!! 😊
Angry Airwolf fan here, guys. I'm so fecking angry right now, I feel like an angry Stringfellow Hawk who needs to take Airwolf out to blow some asshole motherflippers out of the sky! (But great video. Agreed with everything you said about Shitcard - a.k.a Picard.)
"Bibo Fucking Baggins! Do not take me for a conjurer of cheap fucking tricks! I am not trying to fucking rob you; I'm trying to fucking help you." Huh, now it sounds like Peter Capaldi as directed by Martin Scorsese.
It's a shame they didn't pick up the thread from the last season of TNG, where it turns out that heavy warp drive use between two locations permanently damages the fabric of space-time, and that as a practice warp drive use isn't sustainable and will have to be phased out. That could have powered any number of smaller story threads, and have been more relevant than characters tearing their garments and shouting about faith and destiny.
Also that story thread was solved with voyagers warp drive. The whole reason Voyager's warp nacelles tilted was because it allowed warp travel at high speeds without doing damage to subspace. This tech was further developed in new nacelle design like the ones the sovereign used. Also other canon sources state that the sleeker design of newer star fleet ships was also to make the subspace bubble flatter so it would pass through subspace without causing too much, if any damage. The new star fleet ships from the ds9 and voyager era solved the problem of damage to subspace through technology and design and ships didn't need to worry about this anymore. It would kind of be silly to drag this up again if it was already resolved...
Professor Xavier died, only to be reborn in an empty body that somehow is identical to his original body. Captain Picard dies, only to be reborn in an empty robot body that somehow is identical to his original body. Okay then >.>
I feel like I'm getting fucking gaslit by everyone talking about how Star Trek Picard is so good and so nostalgic. It gives me a little sanity onto which I can hopelessly cling when I find another channel that realizes how soulless they made this show.
90 minute pilot stretched out over 10 hours. Not so much lazy writing as lazy plotting. Could have been a decent stand alone feature length episode to kick the series off but instead they decide not to bother with series' worth of story at all.
to be honest, with Star Trek, i would go Wraith of Kahn, Voyage Home, Generations, Nemisis, and the first two Chris Pine Movies and that is it for me!!
I love your reviews on tv shows and movies and action movies. You're 2nd to RLM in terms of review content and I love it. Only 2nd by seniority, not a slight against you. Take care and nice quality work. Also, Picard is basically what became of Alex Kurtzman only watching the TNG movies rather than the show.
Yous were too gentle on it but that's probably a good thing, especially when there's so much going on just now. But this is a fucking travesty, like I'm actually angry about this, I feel ridiculous but I'm passionately fucked off in an unhealthy way.... How was this allowed to have even been pitched let alone made in the first place. Everyone involved in its production should have their knuckles broken so they can never ever write anything again. It's like a 15 year old who had only seen a few episodes of TNG on BBC 2 in the mid 90's in amongst episodes of heartbreak high and they merged the shows together into this absolute fucktarded abortion of television! Great review though ha 👌..... RIP Star Trek
Lets be honest, if copying your personality data into a robot body doesn't make you alive then arguably every character who has used a teleport isn't alive either. All that does is scan your body to a molecular level, destroy it and re-form it using the data with fresh matter. Every character using a teleporter is being murdered and cloned in a new location.
I'm glad I found your channel. I agree with you guys' thoughts. I'm just baffled by how bad Picard is. I watched with an open mind. And I was onboard with Discovery until Season 3. But that show has really flamed out too. I just don't understand how a franchise can go so wrong, while the powers that be remain committed to doubling down on the suck with even more shows.
If you guys are looking for movies to review/chat about/do commentary here's a few suggestions. After hours Seconds (Frankenheimer) Blazing Saddles Heat Frankenstein/Bride of Frankenstein/Invisible man/The Old Dark House Point Blank Bill and Ted Flash Gordon.
"You please, please, have to help us, because it's sad and bad." Love it. Also I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Bruce Maddox had turned into Jordan B Peterson. The casting director on that episode deserves some kind of subversiveness award!
I hope they never cancel Picard just because of how tilted it gets the guys at RLM. 6 more seasons of that would suit me just fine. No one's ever forced me to sit down and watch bad TV.
I hope they cancel it because of how garbage it is. Objectively poor writing amongst so much trash dialogue for characters living in a dark, mean universe where everyone’s a bitchy, murderous, drug-using, psychopath.
Picard dies and comes back as a robot? Fuck this.
Imagine how nice it could've been to have an optimistic, hopeful Star Trek series during a time like this.
Nah, what you need is to have your spirit crushed, and perhaps be assaulted by random swearing for no good reason! For f@cks sake!!!
Nectarine Dreams watch all the old Trek on Netflix
It breaks my heart to see what they did to my family's happy, hopeful place. I'm protesting with my wallet, as in cancelling CBS All-access.
Agree...Star Trek Picard is awful. STD isn't much better. The cast/crew on both shows aren't as likable as Star Trek, TNG, DS9 and Voyager....even Enterprise was better.
The main issue in Picard is that the audience always knows more then the characters, yet it is framed as a mystery story.

The show should have been called Star Trek: Patrick.
Bring back Rick Berman... seriously.
The title should be *"Star Trek Picard ain't broke, it's terrible"*
why make me choose?
From (highly overpaid) producer+writer Alex Kurtzman, comes another Star Trek series with style over quality substance.
To paraphrase Jean Luc - Disengage!
How does he keep getting work? CBS/Paramount won't let him go.
@@davidjames579 He must know where the bodies are buried.
Who keeps giving all the nerd property to Alex Kurtzman?!
@Ewan Callister Like The Mummy?
@Ewan Callister The Mummy is more recent, and it was his project. It was an unmitigated disaster. But I guess he has money in the bank from writing endless shitty blockbusters.
Hollyweird, it's a strange cult.
@Ewan Callister Spider-Man, Mission: Impossible.
Star Trek Picard unintentionally became the cheesy Captain Proton holonovels Tom Paris played.
Wait!!??? people accully liked this? Just end humanity!!!
Star Trek is dead to me.
R.I.P 1966-2005
The language is rubbish in STD and STP
Rich Evans: "I think my brain is numb...where's the more nuanced exploration of Picards character?"

Mikes "therapy sessions" with Rich on Redlettermedia are the best thing out of this trainwreck.

I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in !
Yeah, yeah, oh yeah...
Star Trek: JL...........
Like some people in the UK I have only recently got Disney plus and only three episodes deep into the mandalorian. Already I can tell that it's far better than Picard and more respectful to the source material. And I am definitely more a trek rather than a wars person.
Literally deleting my CBS All-Access now. Disney+ is worth a go?
Bad Robot have just made Star Trek for Star Wars fans.
A terrible show. At times I actually wanted some ham-fisted attempt to pursue an agenda but no, just boring nonsense, I'm sure there were hypocritical messages from Patrick Stewart... but what's the point when you're asleep.

Justice for Bruce Maddox!

Sarah Connor
Luke Skywalker
Jean-Luc Picard
Good luck to the next Returning legends
@Ewan Callister And Rocky Balboa but Stallone contributed in most of the script's so I dunno
@Ewan Callister yeah. Good luck to Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) anyway
@Ewan Callister I agree with you Ewan, they seem to be going towards a vibe to appeal to the og fans of Ghostbusters. Hope you're well anyway during the crisis anyway m8 nice chatting with ya!! 😊
CBS hate Trek and seemingly the fans (apropos of nothing). There was a character in this catastrophe called Vajazzle. Just let that sink in.
Apropo? Surely you'd need a basic knowledge of Latin, working in Currys?
David James what time do you knock off? Fancy going for a drink?
My advice rewatch it in 2 5 episodes and you see this show is a two part Roger Corman movie with masses of padding on a reused plot from Mass effect
22:56 Btw the plot about the doomsday robots was ripped wholesale from Mass Effect 3, even including the relic that triggers visions.
Kurtzman rips off things, wholesale!

Huh, now it sounds like Peter Capaldi as directed by Martin Scorsese.
It was dreadful...even worse than ST Discovery!
It's a shame they didn't pick up the thread from the last season of TNG, where it turns out that heavy warp drive use between two locations permanently damages the fabric of space-time, and that as a practice warp drive use isn't sustainable and will have to be phased out. Nah, that was a terrible idea they were right to abandon.

I forgot about that TNG offensive irish episode with all the stereotypes included !

"Remember that really classic episode of Star Trek: Picard? You know, where that thing happened? We need to watch that one again!", said no one ever.
A Quentin Tarantino Airwolf would be amazing!

Flash Gordon.
I loved the bit when picard had visions of being lucutas of borg when he walks on to the borg cube
Star Trek died with Nemesis
Bilbo “Fucking” Baggins lol
I watched the first episode and hated it, it is not Star Trek. I love The Orville this is the new Trek, I just hope they make more!
BEACUSE IT LOOKS COOL!!

It's not what the fans wanted
Is Enterprise E in this
Pizza Planet
It sure is
Dark place commentary maybe??
Nothing but exposition
Ouch!
How to pronounce "robot" 10 different ways
It sounds amazing! I need to watch it now.
You should try rubbing salt into an open wound, because the effect is quite similar.
