This first book flipped everything I predicted about it on its head. I think it is Weis and Hickman’s best work out of their 100+ books/series. This whole series was fun but book 1 is one of my favorites. Zifnab is a legendary character.
Loved the whole series. The first time I had to wait on the next book to come out because I read through it so fast! Reread the series as an adult and loved it even more! Dragon Lance was a bonus read into the connection of these books!
ohhh you're in for a treat... the Death Gate Cycle is soooooooooooo much better than Dragonlance (for my money). It's one of the best fantasy/sci-fi series, but unfortunately not very well known. Also, it has one of the best world(s) buidling and magic system. I would also recommend their other trilogy, the Rose of the Prophet one... I think that one and the Death Gate Cycle are much much better than both the Dark Sword and Dragon Lance.
I got into this book series because I played the DOS PC game as a kid and developed strong nostalgic attachments to characters like Haplo, Zifnab and Limbeck. I just recently finished The Seventh Gate and man what a wild ride it was. I think my two favorite books out of the series was four (The Serpent Mage) and five (The Hand of Chaos). I don't want to spoil for anyone who might read this but the confrontation near the end of book four had me right on the edge of my seat.
Anyone here play the DOS PC game that was based on this book series, just called Death Gate? I spent one summer vacation beating this game over and over, memorizing every puzzle, listening to the music for hours and just staring at the beautiful artwork. Also have to give a nod to the games composer Eric Herberling. The music really cemented the world into my memory.
Can you do a video with only vintage fantasy covers and name all those cover artists? I enjoy the art and the design on covers as I work with comic books for 20 years.
God I remember reading these back when they came out as a kid. What a trip. I wonder if I would love them as much now as I did then. Side note. Still sometimes name thief or assassin characters Huge the Hand in rpgs I play. So clearly the books left an impression lol
Your comments about how the words are made up and don't describe what they are is completely false, it's hard to believe you read this. Sorry. Also - just a few other comments. Cool vid tho bro.

As a Dragonlance and Malazan super fan. Calling this Malazan lite is a hard buy for me.. I need to try these!! Thanks for this review.

I did and was disappointed. I'd love for it to be remade with new technology
Love this entire series! Just wait you’ll be reading surprises
Can't wait
Dragon Wing was the first hardcover novel I bought. Have the whole series in HC. Love it.

You've read 14 books since I started reading Lonesome Dove.
I’m about 100 pages into this, started in September. I hit a hard slump that had nothing to do with this book and I look forward to finishing it.
I haven't read the Dragonlance books but read the others by them. The Death Gate Cycle is the best of them and is my favorite series by any author.
Just got this for 25 cents at a library sale. Looks like a scored a gem.
Timely! I just got that whole series and plan to read them next year! Also used your book covering video to help protect the old paperbacks I got.
Awesome
Loved your review. Keep reading! It gets even weirder but oh so awesome.

Awesome series
I've read these atleat six times. I really should give their other work a go. 😅
Arianus. Sounds like an awful side effect in a medical ad.
