I love Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman. The original Dragonlance trilogy is one of favorite in all of fantasy. I do want to say the Sovereign Stone trilogy is highly underrated. I really enjoyed the world they created with Larry Elmore. It doesn’t get enough love from reviewers so I’m glad you’ll be reviewing them.

There are some nice hardcover anthologies, but we do have that sentimental attachment to the paperbacks of our young years.

I LOVED THIS VIDEO, BRIAN! I've been a HUGE MARGARET WEIS & TRACY HICKMAN FAN for 40+ years now! Dragonlance had the same affect on me, as it did on you! Plus, I've read most of their other stuff, too!

Hey Brian, I know this is primarily a book review channel but I would love for you to showcase some of the fantasy art that you've done. I saw some of your wildlife paintings for sale online and they're really awesome. Also, I'm curious as to why you didn't paint the covers for your own books as you clearly have the talent to do so...

yes sir .. watched to the end. I too snapped up that first red paperback, the others were Penguin editions without Elmore's superb covers.. not that it mattered, I read the pants off them then upgraded to the hardcover collector editions TSR pumped out to cash in on the ravenous readership, glad they did, those hardcovers have worn well. Weis & Hickman, they write great fantasy stories, Dragonlance is my favourite epic quest adventure, its easy to understand, its fun, its action packed entertainment. Lost Chronicles trilogy I dont have or the new Dragons of Deceit, but I will.

Nice collection. Most of these are out-of-print; one cannot just go and buy them new at Amazon for a decent price. I finally found ...Autumn Twilight in a used book store the other day, after searching for a couple of months. The sickening thing is I had all of these in my youth and sold them for lack of shelf space. I admire your collection.

I LOVED the Dragonlance chronicles when I was younger too!!! The Majere brothers were my favorite characters. I haven't read the newest ones that ends in Dragons of the Hourglass Mage... maybe I'm due for a reread, it's been decades since I read them. Deathgate was so good, I had so much fun with those from what I remember I look forward to your reviews! Also, the Dragons of a Vanished Sun, Forgotten Moon, etc are good. They start off pretty different than the original trilogies (much less magic for story reasons) but it was really good from what I remember. You're making me want to go back and reread all of the Dragonlance stuff god damn it... lmao And if your books are inspired by Dragonlance I want to read them even more....maybe I can convince the hubby to let me break the book buying ban.... who needs money to move when there are awesome books to buy? :-P

I persevered! Your channel rocks. I'm a new viewer but I've already purchased a number of your recommendations. I also began obsessively to cover my paperbacks with contact paper, lol. That's a brilliant idea! I use the plastic covers for hardbacks, but never thought of using contact paper for PBs.

Great collection, Mr. D. I have a few of their works as well, though I have yet to dive in. Interestingly, my copies of the original 3 have updated cover art by Matt Sawicki. Looks like they were reprinted by Wizards of the Coast, I guess. (Whatever that is. Pardon my ignorance.) Either way, they are nice covers.

I want to say I discovered Dragonlance in high school, age 15, 1992. It was the covers. The library had a whole colorful row of them. Chronicles. Legends. Tales. Heroes. That was all that was out at that time. After high school I stopped reading fantasy and shifted to nonfiction topics. Now 30 years later I'm collecting an interesting selection from the now 200 Dragonlance novels. I focus on Raistlin and Kitiara and any novels about the order of wizards.

Larry Elmore is the GOAT. It would have been a dream come true if he came out of retirement just to do the covers for the new book Dragons of Deceit and the next 2 books. The chronicles and legends cover pale in comparison to the original. Love Dragonlance!

    "Perseverance!"
I grew up loving Dragonlance and Death Gate - my older brother was obsessed, he had *all* MW & TH books so I could have gotten into these other series if I was as dedicated a reader - I will though.
Before you start "Dragons of Summer Flame", you should really track down "the Second Generation" - an anthology of novellas which properly sets up Summer Flame's characters. Summer Flame was supposed to be a trilogy but TSR suddenly said you have to cram it into one - so the vision was a little compromised...rather needs all the support it can get. Then enjoy the ride of War of Souls...Unless you want the even bigger picture, then first get the Raistlin Chronicles, and the Lost Chronicles, which fills in many of the Chronicles gaps.
And if you want to go beyond Weis and Hickman; the Kingpriest Trillogy by Chris Pierson is such an epic read - though it's supper rare now - in fact any thing by him or Richard Knaak is worth your time. Many of the over 200 Dragonlance books churned out are not - though if if I could read at your speed I might read em all.

Similar to you the dragonlance books had a huge impact on me growing up, read them a ton, over and over again, in fact my first tattoo is Raistlin from the cover of Dragons of Spring Dawning. Loved the video.

There are five Darksword books. One is just supplemental stuff and not a novel. The fifth was released ten years after the third and functions as a sequel. I had no idea. I started a Weis collection about a year ago, I count 66 authored or coauthored books in her bibliography. I will collect Hickman as well, sixty+ as well. 100 books between them maybe.

Dragonlance was what started my love of fantasy. I actually started with the War of Souls trilogy and loved it despite the constant mentions of characters and events from the previous books. great collection, my favorite is not there - soulforge by Margaret Weis (And the follow up Brother in arms by her and Don Perrin (I think). They tell the story of raistlin (and camaron) from their infancy until they meet the companions. Soulforge is one my favorite novels of all time. Summer flame is indeed a sequel of 6, most of the events connect there. More recently they wrote three more novels (one for each "season" that are inbetween scenes of autumn and winter and winter and pring, etc. There is going to be a new series in dragonlance

I have collected many Dragonlance books over the years. I have been hesitant to read them. As I get older, I think perhaps I won't enjoy them as much, as I would, if I first read them at a younger age. On a positive note, thanks to you I'm going to start Dragonlance Chronicles book 1. The sci fi series sounds amazing. Always looking for a good sci-fi. By the way "I left a comment" lol.

Sorry to comment on an older video but I just picked up Margarete Wises Stars of the guardian series so checked to see if you had covered them. Did you know there is 4 in the series? I have all 4 books in the series. The 4th is titled "Ghost Legion" & was published 2 years after "King's Sacrifice", so not that long after, and if memory serves, picks up not long after the events of the original trilogy. The inner cover shows that it came out at about the same time as Death Gate Cycle #5 "The Hand of Chaos", the inner cover of Ghost Legion stating that HoC is "Now available in Hardcover!"

I got three books on dragonlance not books 1,2 and 3 but the only books they has was in between them like books 3 and some 2 and that no use to read when it will give spoilers and I dont like them, I bought them when I was in holiday they were published in 1980s I got them and and idler nook shop that for non uk people known as an antiques shop for books and the pages werent looking brittle old and yellowing but inside them was yellowing with age, they look like a dog has been attaching them or they went to prison and had a hell of a time they look like they been read to death, and because I was so excited to see dragonlance books I still bought them and now im thinking to give them in to the nearest charity shop, I mean there still readable but, me I think if your going to read a good book it has to be in good shape.
