All videos like this are useful. Everyone has unique and different ideas for building out their van. Sometimes something that you might think isn't even worth mentioning is just the thing someone else needs to hear to solve their own problem. Please more!
Thanks for the great info! I hadn't thought about how useful a sink could be in a van until you talked about it - starting to look like it may be worth the space it would take up. I'll look forward to the rest of the series!
I'd like a quick tour of your current set up (just 5 mins) if you would like to show. I think your van is the best in terms of stealth van life. It blends with the city super well and definitely doesn't give away that someone might be living in it. Your van is my favorite, but not sure how it would work in very cold places. Here in Colorado we're getting close to our brutal winter. How do you keep yourself warm? Also, what's the bathroom situation? Thank you for your vids
+Viviane B my current setup hasn’t changed much. I’ve had three friends do van tour videos. Adventure VanMan did the most recent. Dave2D and Sam Travels made the other two. I’m rubbish at short tour videos so it may be a while until I can do a tour myself. Thanks for the compliments. You may not like my next upload. I’m anti-stealth now :^) I just bought a heater and will make a video about it soon. I built the van for warm weather, it might be good to have insulation now that I am in the PNW. But a small van is very easy to heat. I made a composting toilet but don’t use it much since I am almost always in a city. Colorado is beautiful, I hope to get there someday.
Good info and tips. I appreciate the reminder to consider what we want to use the sink for before purchasing/installing. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of your van build playlist. I'll be binge watching the playlist over the next few days. 😁😁
I watched this video earlier today and immediately ran out to my local restaurant outfitting supply store and asked for one of these sinks. the sales guy apologised after explaining that they had just sold the last one of the 100 sinks they'd had in stock and that they wouldn't be getting any more as they were no longer being produced. but my luck was in, he gave me a great deal on 100 sink rails.
+CJ Scott that’s awesome. The ProMaster City is getting to be popular. It’s a great van if you’re not living in it full time or you are an ultra minimalist.
Other than your personal style and interesting sense of humor one of the main interests for me in viewing your channel was the unique, clean steel-like interior of your camper. I'm not really in a position to build or convert a van, and I'm not currently living in one, but I think it's helpful to see the basics of a plumbing system and how it works. Even if I purchase an RV fully built it would be nice to have a familiarity of how an RV plumbing system is built from scratch. So my vote would be to continue the series of videos. Thanks.
+Robert Foster I should point out that I am not necessarily installing the plumbing the best way, I'm just showing how I have done it. The restaurant supply equipment is something I'd like to see more people use. It's less expensive than home center products. Thanks for the comment and compliments.
+One Awesome Inch your comment reminded me of your video where you talked about the different kinds of van dwellers. (How'd that go, crunchy?) I sometimes wish I didn't need so much to be comfortable.
Thank for sharing. Yes, I would like to learn more about you sink set up. The need to know info is important and handy. Asking for parts that don't come with it. Yes, a sure time saver.
Hey Static! I really like the sink you have, please continue on with the rest of the setup when you have time. What I like is how deep it is to wash dishes or laundry, also the facet is up high to give plenty of clearance. Some of those sinks are so tiny. Great video and explanation on the process. ;) Take care, hope you are getting some sun. It's been raining like crazy up my way. Feels like I'm living in Seattle :( Tina
It was great meeting you at Fantasy Springs casino last week. I'm just trying to catch up with other people's videos now! Enjoy the cool Coachella weather while you can brother!
+Linescrew1 hey, it was great meeting you too. Like I was telling you, my videos probably aren't meant for you veteran RVs. But I do appreciate you checking out my channel. Haha, cool weather. Right.
+bigfoot one I plan on showing how to make a filter but as it may be a bit before I make that video, the filter is based on and very similar to Berkey Water Filters.
Very informative and well done video. Amazing how much research goes into getting one of these installed. thank you for sharing all that you did. have a great day.
yes ..that looks great. ..best sink I've ever seen in an rv even. Good job! 👍 I would like to know how to set up running water and grey tank in a van also.
I appreciate this video. As I just have a pick-up with a canopy that I camp in, I probably won't be putting in a sink, but still enjoyed seeing your build.
Thanks for the info, you same to really think things out. Please keep doing this. I like to hear from a person that thinks about all the little thing's it makes my job of capping the idea much easier lol
Thanks for the information and tips. Would be great to see a continuation on the sink as well as the counter. I really like the stainless for multiple reason. Just to let you know I have been watching your vids but I don't comment much. Take care ~ jman
yes please tell more about the entire system. I moved into my Chevy Tahoe a couple weeks ago and a sink is something I definitely want and in pretty sure in going to go your route on it. thanks static!!
Static CamperVan Yeah I may find a couple months down the road that this just isn't enough room but for now I'm rather comfy really. I want a fridge and a solar set up and have room dedicated for that so yeah think I might be ok. I would really like a sink and I think it'll work but I need to see all that's involved before I can decide. so yeah continue the series!!!
+Mike Renfro I think it's definitely doable. My opinion is a van is easier, but that's just opinion. You will definitely have some advantages using a real truck based vehicle. The biggest hurdle is getting our minds to stop telling us what we Think we need and focus on what we Really need for our own personal comfort.
Always enjoy the videos. Especially like the research you put into making a decision. I wonder if you ever thought of continuing those type of videos? Looking forward to the next installment....
+Shane Carre your question intrigues me as it is my goal to provide as much information as I can in each video. I have felt a bit of pressure to cut down the length of my videos. This video for example, I left out a lot of info that I discussed in the first sink video. And I still overshot my 10 minute target time. I'm open to advice since my goal here is to be helpful. Thanks for the comments.
Static CamperVan I wouldn't say the videos are too long because they are informative and easy to follow your train of thought. Some additional videos that detail solutions to the challenges one might or have encountered living that way might be neat. (places to park, making to most use of space, deciding what stays and goes, or what you really do and don't need, perhaps detailed videos on some of your building projects, maybe even some occasional product reviews on items that are good things to have. Maybe companies will provide a sample if you let them know you want to review it on UA-cam. )
+Shane Carre thank you very much. That is very useful information. I do intend to make more of those types of videos. I do struggle with enjoying my free time and wanting to make more videos. Such is the life of a working man. :^)
Wittco, Hobart, Vulcan Heart, PMI! (all the same company overall) Also suggest, if they have them in your area the ReStore/Habitat For Humanity store. Can get some great van build out stuff at great prices and help a good charity.
Useful! There'snot enough small van dwellers on youtube, I'm getting sick of seeing people moving out of their homes into RV's that are as big as homes anyway, then spending all their time in campgrounds plugged into shore power, again... just like living in a home! lol
Cool video. Not a van dweller but would like to do one some day as an inexpensive weekend RV. Only criticism I would have is you didn't share the manufacturer and model of your sink.
+bobbyknc I didn't mention the manufacturer on purpose as I think it's best to see the sink in person. There are dozens of manufacturers that make hundreds of styles of sinks. It might be difficult to find the exact brand and model. Also you will most likely get a better deal by locating a sink at a store near you. Most restaurant supply stores will gladly drop the price of an item to make a sale. But they will only do so in person. Thanks for the message. Get that RV, you won't regret it.
+Chris and Cheryl's Adventures yes absolutely! When I owned a house, I fitted the kitchen with all stainless steel appliances and work surfaces including the backsplash. It sure was easy to clean.
+R-Bus Travels good reminder there! To be honest, I sometimes have to force myself to make these videos, like this one. It's not like I don't enjoy making them it's just that it takes time out of other things I enjoy. I'll try to get a cooking vid out soon! 🙂
To deaden the sound of the sink you can also apply drummer's putty to it. Drummers use the putty to make drums way quieter. Should work on the sink too.
+One Awesome Inch interesting. Never heard of it. I've seen people use RattleTrap and automotive body undercoating but those are petroleum based and I fear the smell would bother me.
The best sink may actually be a plastic basin and a hanging camping shower bag, because these add little weight and they can be stored away when not in use, which creates more space to do other things.
I've always found it difficult to stay concise without a "plan" of what to say written out in front of me. Anyways I really look forward to seeing more about the technical aspects of your van!
+Iandmacb yeah, I do them this way because I don't like watch videos where people are reading. I cringe when I watch myself, though! Ha ha. It's possible I could get more comfortable in front of the camera, but probably not. I appreciate your comments!
I really like your videos. You seem like a nice down to earth no nonsense kind of guy. Is there a reason you didn't choose an all in one stainless sink/counter combo? If not do you think this would work well to have less parts to install? Thanks.
+David Landers mostly price, these two pieces were less than $150. Plus having them separate gives me better ergonomic options. I originally had the table at the same hight as the sink and found it nearly impossible to prep food. I do like those sink/counter combos but none seemed to be the correct choice for this van. I'm not sure there would have been less parts to install as my build is as simple as it gets. I should point out that a lot of the design decisions are directly related to the van and the space I have to work with. If I had a larger van, I probably would have done many things differently.
I was thinking something very simple, SS bowl in wooden top with gravity fed water, from probably 5 gal water bag hidden in top cupboard ?? to get rid of that whirling sound (annoying) from water pumps. What do you think ?
+RemusKingOfRome5 the microphone I use greatly amplifies the noise from the pump. The pump isn't loud at all. There are several disadvantages to a system like you describe. For me, the water pump is the best choice.
+AlejoHausner haha! That is a LED light that I never use and didn't even realize I had put it there. You just reminded me that was one of the items I was going to give away at the RTR. Maybe next year. :^)
+Scott Sturgeon it's made by Atlanta Culinary Equipment. Model# HS-1217W I think the 12 17 refers to the basin size. I don't recommend buying one online. Just find a restaurant supply store, they are open to the public. The "counter" top is a stainless steel wall shelf, also from a restaurant supply store. For the life of me, I can't figure out why more van dwellers don't buy these items. It's much less expensive than Home Depot.
hi Static CamperVan, Just get your opinion if I may? I love your setup and am thinking of the same ! I would like a PM City SLT model with 5 seats and smoked windows. I would insulate for NE and have a swing-able insulated multi-layer curtain for inclusion or exclusion of the 2nd row of seats. of seats(if I have them in place). I would be able to sleep across the seats as I am just 5' 3" and have a tiny 2nd bed as you do. I would have to remove the roof liner and black plastic on the sides and rear door. Is this Do-able as you see it ? Thanks, Bill in Boston
+Liam Kelleher yes absolutely. In my mind it's a bit more work to strip away the liner and trim pieces versus buying a cargo van but I'm guessing you need to use the van for family matters mostly. Most of the heat loss will be out the windows so I would focus on insulating the windows and less on removing the headliner. You can always go back later and pull the liner down and add insulation if need be. My other thought is figuring out ventilation, even if its just using a computer fan located at one of the windows. In such a small space, you will find heating it is not going to be an issue. Have you seen Wayfarer Vans? They have a cool system of insulated panels that you might get some ideas from. Also you should watch Explorer Steve's video on why he bought the smallest Buddy heater. Hope that helps. Get in touch anytime if you need more info. And I hope you do a video on your van or send me some pictures. It would be great to see what you come up with.
It’s been so many years since this video, I don’t remember. Here’s a link to all of the van build videos: ua-cam.com/play/PL9PWzpL1cZIEK5IOyMP6XlZN_abmkRega.html&si=QOjPTNHtVV3KCJKw

+Hot Springs Nomad Thanks for commenting. Yes, I haven't regretted adding the sink. :^)
It's an appealing setup along with the stainless countertop next to it.
+OnlyMyPOV Thanks very much!

Loving this series. You are in one of the vans I am considering.
+CJ Scott that’s awesome. The ProMaster City is getting to be popular. It’s a great van if you’re not living in it full time or you are an ultra minimalist.
Yes, please continue the series! I really like the sink, and your install instructions.
+wendy fahmie thanks for the feedback. I'm traveling at the moment but will get back to this series.
ALSO I LIKE THAT STAINLESS STEEL TABLE
Yes, please continue the series, I am very interested....

I haven't had a sink in 21 months of vandwelling and not sure I will ever get one. Glad it's working for you. ☺
+One Awesome Inch your comment reminded me of your video where you talked about the different kinds of van dwellers. (How'd that go, crunchy?) I sometimes wish I didn't need so much to be comfortable.
Yeah I got that from Burson. Spray bottle with vinegar works for me. Take care brother!

+tinabeane oh no! At least it's not snow!
I forgot that you didn't get a tour of my van. Thanks for the feedback and kind words!
Nice, thorough sink video -- all the info needed
Good information, I like your sink and I also like the install. Well done.
Thanks Rob
I also like the free standing Bar sinks good video...
Good info. Appreciate the further detail from your previous video. I'd like to learn about the plumbing for sure, as well as your water filter.
+csquared Thanks ☺
Yes, please continue! The devil's in the details as they say, and I appreciate your generosity and thoughtfulness.
+Backroads Vegan Thanks for the message! I'm having a bit of trouble with the next one but I am working on it. :^)

Static CamperVan I texted One Awesome Inch a pic of you in the casino! He watches you lots too.
+Linescrew1 oh right you took my picture! He has my favorite channel. No offense.
Very good explanation. Please continue the series!
+Doris Shanks Thanks :^)
Very great information thank you about that ring ond wouldn't have known about
I think its awesome, and a well worthwhile addition to any vandweller.

I like to hear more about your water filtration. Thanks

+Joyce Barnett Thanks. Yes there are no real blueprints for building your own RV.
yes ..that looks great. ..best sink I've ever seen in an rv even. Good job! 👍
I would like to know how to set up running water and grey tank in a van also.

yes please tell more about the entire system. I moved into my Chevy Tahoe a couple weeks ago and a sink is something I definitely want and in pretty sure in going to go your route on it. thanks static!!
+Mike Renfro wow, a Tahoe. I'd like to see how you build that out. Thanks!
Static CamperVan Yeah I may find a couple months down the road that this just isn't enough room but for now I'm rather comfy really. I want a fridge and a solar set up and have room dedicated for that so yeah think I might be ok. +Barry Huffer Thanks man!
The bracket is called a "French cleat". It is commonly used to hang heavy items like cabinets and shelves.
+Randy Winney thank you

Very helpful video!
Thanks Sharon
Useful! There'snot enough small van dwellers on youtube, I'm getting sick of seeing people moving out of their homes into RV's that are as big as homes anyway, then spending all their time in campgrounds plugged into shore power, again... just like living in a home! lol
+RvThereYet XD well you need your hair dryer, blender, Kirby vacuum and all. I mean how's a person supposed to get by without?!?
Cool video. Not a van dweller but would like to do one some day as an inexpensive weekend RV. Only criticism I would have is you didn't share the manufacturer and model of your sink.

Nice video. I like your sink. You have it pretty close, but wouldn't a full stainless campervan kitchen be cool?
+Chris and Cheryl's Adventures yes absolutely! When I owned a house, I fitted the kitchen with all stainless steel appliances and work surfaces including the backsplash. It sure was easy to clean.
Love your videos.
Good show! Thanks for the info. plz continue. 😍
+Barbara Webster Thanks 🙏🏽😊
Thank you for the info, is there a cooking video in the works? Just have a feeling it would be great if you made one🇨🇦💃🐶🚌🇨🇦
+R-Bus Travels good reminder there! To be honest, I sometimes have to force myself to make these videos, like this one. It's not like I don't enjoy making them it's just that it takes time out of other things I enjoy. I'll try to get a cooking vid out soon! 🙂
Wonderful👨🏻🍳 🍓🍇🍉🍒🍏🍅🌶🥑🍋your videos are very good, you explain things well, have a wonderful evening
🇨🇦💃🏼🐶🚌🇨🇦
+R-Bus Travels Thank you 😊
That measurement issue is one of many reasons I hate buying almost anything online.
Yes, I agree
nice sink. the spout extends out enough. some sink spouts are criminally undersized
I like this series. Please continue. What a great deal you had on the price of the sink. The faucet came with it?
+MindiheartsMusic yes the faucet was included. And I didn't get any special deal or pricing. :^)
I like the stanless steelin your van love to see more vidios thanks
+wayne epperson Thanks Wayne!
Keep it coming.
+Rich Beatty thanks, I have a few changes to the plumbing. I'll continue on when it's finished.
Yeah. Gotta be careful with that stuff. Can be very toxic.
where'd you get your jacket!? love it! lol... also great looking sink..
It’s a Patagonia jacket from REI. But I’m not sure that color is still available.
Thanks great video,Two thumbs up..
+dylan you're welcome!
Hang a camping shower bag over a plastic basin. Store them away when not in use. Portable items create more open space for other activities.
I don’t have room to either set up a basin and shower bag or store them.
Just a suggestion for those that may not want to create a permanent build. Permanent builds are difficult to change.
The best sink may actually be a plastic basin and a hanging camping shower bag, because these add little weight and they can be stored away when not in use, which creates more space to do other things.
+di it's harder to wash dishes and laundry in a plastic basin. For me, the space is a non-issue considering how much I use the sink.
Awesome video! Kind of drawn out though, I watched on 1.25x speed and it still felt longer than it needed to be. Love your van though
+Iandmacb interesting. Well, thanks, I guess.
Ha ha. It's possible I could get more comfortable in front of the camera, but probably not.

nice vid very informative
+P & S McAllisters much appreciated, Thanks!
👍 very useful.
Great video. This may be a stupid question: what's that white round thing that appears directly behind the faucet in your video? A pan lid?
+AlejoHausner haha! That is a LED light that I never use and didn't even realize I had put it there. You just reminded me that was one of the items I was going to give away at the RTR. Maybe next year. :^)
Could you share the details of the sink? Dimensions, manufacturer and model (if you have access to them). I dig the stainless counter top!
+Scott Sturgeon it's made by Atlanta Culinary Equipment. Model# HS-1217W
I think the 12 17 refers to the basin size.
Thanks for the info. I'm doing a Transit Connect build at present and looking at options...
+Scott Sturgeon oh cool! I'd like to see that. I hope you make some videos.
There was a place in the San Fernando Valley: Star Restaurant Supply
is that where you went?
+bookmouse770 no, but there's probably 200 supply stores in the valley. They are all fairly similar.

5' 3" and have a tiny 2nd bed as you do. I would have to remove the roof liner and black plastic on the sides and rear door. Is this Do-able as you see it ?
Thanks,
Bill in Boston
Okay so where is the follow up on the plumbing??
It’s been so many years since this video, I don’t remember. Here’s a link to all of the van build videos: ua-cam.com/play/PL9PWzpL1cZIEK5IOyMP6XlZN_abmkRega.html&si=QOjPTNHtVV3KCJKw
