      problem with this is, as you can see your water supplies is all in tanks, so each time you have a shower u essentially deplete a ton of your water resources, stuff as simple as laundry or doing the dishes would be a pain to do aswell, so its not very practical to live inside premanently.

    Watched a couple of your walk throughs for bunkers, from a psychological standpoint, your customers would benefit from screens on walls that have a preloaded sunny day with woods set up like windows, that randomly change to a rainy day. With sound of crickets and frogs at night.
    The smart tvs would just look like windows with curtains and blinds.
    They can manually change the "Channel" or turn them off. But the subliminal idea of being in a normal situation may help mental health in a long term stint in an emergency situation stuck in your bunker.

    Although this appears to be constructed from galvanized steel i would still paint it or even cover it with fiberglass / epoxy as the the stone could pierce the galvanized layer and cause point for corrosion to set in. Further more a cathodic protection system may also be of of benefit

    • @kaptein1247
      @kaptein1247 2 роки тому

      I dont think you understand the reason why the pipe is galvanised. When the zinc layer gets compromised it wil ''sacrifise'' itself and repair the scratch. Paint, while offering some protection. Its minimal. Kind of like covering it with a blancet. Best would be to cover it in concrete. Wont see any rust for decades that way

    Paranoia can certainly be expensive. Thanks for showing us how these are built. Great view of the weak points to attack in these bolt holes. It would be a simple matter to make them uninhabitable by permanently plugging the vent pipes. Or one could simply smoke out the inhabitants by building fires around the vent pipes. Add a few loads of dirt on the horizontal door.... then weld them shut. Add an emergency exit? Go ahead. once you're out of the shelter it does you no good.

      @@onekerri1 It can't be easily reset, so I am not wrong. It is a one off, as it can not be reset quickly. If needed to be used in case of a breach, 5 minutes for the ability to get out is entirely too slow. Resetting this emergency hatch can not be done in less than 20 minutes without more sand and heavy equipment readily available is all I am stating, which is 100% accurate.

  • @stevesavage1357
    @stevesavage1357 3 роки тому +4

    I like the concept of what you are doing, but the escape hatch seems like it would take way to long to escape the way it’s currently set up. Also the air vents and exhaust for the generator pipes coming out of the ground probably should be another two foot higher in the even of massive rainfall in a short period. (Sometimes it happens in West Texas).
    Last but not least- the entry stairwell will probably be difficult for elderly people and younger children to access if needed (it obviously would work well for older kids through maybe mid 60s).

    about the scape pod, wouldn't you think that the sand you poured in will be very hard? even tho there's no way water can filter in the sand will harden in time. so when you remove the cover from the bottom off then... no sand will come down. have you ever had sand in a place for so long then stays in its shape? that's what i think it'll happen. also, the scape pod is too close to the other end. if somebody is trying to break in, don't you think they will notice something near by???

    Might be a good idea to put an old car or something between the entrance and escape hatch so you have some concealment when you pop out of the ground and it will dampen the sound of dirt falling back in.

    Wow! Great job! Great comments too! One thing came to mind for sure though, the air flow system was good but what about fallout filtration? You would probably require another large galvanized conduit section similar to the generator room just for a decent water/ activated carbon scrubber. Then there are the bio hazard airborne particulates to consider as well and a toxic gas/ radioactive particulate removal system with an exterior sensor array to inform the residents of outside air quality. A decent scrubber will probably cost an additional 100G. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated. I subbed and hit the like button. Pretty cool dude. Thank you kindly.

    I've installed many USTs and we used pea stone on the fiberglass tanks. Stone is more stable and a very low compaction rating whereas sand has a 30% compaction rate. 12" of sand will compact to about 8".

    Perhaps some playground foam mats for the escape tunnel, you know the small folks will want to play in it if they are stuck in there for any length of time. Would small pea gravel be an upgrade for the sand / dirt above the escape ladder.

    You should wrap the french drain and gravel in fabric like house building codes require. Sediment makes it through the gravel and into the pipe over time. The french drain from the video will eventually end up clogged and useless.

    What's the point of the sand if there's a bolt-on hatch in the escape tunnel?
    Also, I'm thinking the best way to get supplies into the bunker would be through the generator manhole. Position a shop crane with a pully block over it and maybe use vehicle winch to lower stuff down.

    • @NavyVet4955
      @NavyVet4955 3 роки тому

      Sand is in there first off for additional radiation protection then as a deterrent to someone trying to get in. Being the secondary hatch cover is a few inches underground it’s not visible for direct attack anyways.

    Iron Edison is a good company and care about your business. They will help you design you battery setup with either Nickel Iron or Lithium Iron. If cared for they will normally last the life of your solar system. Nickel Iron are NOT maintenance free but only take very little care, Lithium are maintenance free. I believe the Nickel ones have a 30 yr warranty and are super easy to see when distilled water needs to be added(not acid like a normal lead acid battery). Lead batteries also will need to be replaced sometimes after only 5 years, maybe even sooner
    I have no affiliation with them, just know some folks that used them and are happy as can be. They will even help design a backup for grid tied systems. They also don't need to be one big trunk battery

    Loved the video. I just wanted to say the decontamination shower looks like it would only be marginally effective. A government study I read once and barely remember said that you need like 70psi pressure at flow rates of like at least ten gallons a minute to be effective. Just something you may want to research yourself and figure it out if you need to upgrade.

    So would you be able to change or repair the sump pump without going out of the shelter? If there was a biological agent, or radiation, I'd hate to have to go outside the shelter, and then dig 15 feet to access a pump......seems like the sump is a weak point in these shelters. I wonder if there was a way using culverts and pipes to empty the water without relying on power.

    Is the condensation check valve running to ground.. is there a way to put that into a resevoir to keep a water cycle.. so that you can collect and distill or filter the water for reuse? So if you have a greywater recycling system so that if you are in shelter for a protracted series you can cycle in the water?
