Need Dehumidifiers. That will solve two issues. It will remove the dampness from the air, thus keeping your canned food from rusting and damaging the cans. The second issue remedied, you're collecting water that you can make potable.

That access to the basement is the coolest part!! I would cover the blast door entrance with dirt that contoured to the hill itself. And then, use a heavy duty bullet proof gun safe as the pantry door and another inside the pantry to access the basement. So even if they make it past the first one, you have a redundancy. No way anyone would get through one of the heaviest gun safe door money can buy. I wouldn't even make the house fancy looking. Just kept up nice and set up inside the house part with average furniture and everything so there would be no give away that there is something underground. Just so your guests wouldn't know about it unless you told them. Something like this would be millions and millions of dollars to construct. Such an amazing place! Special thanks to the home owner and a massive thanks for sharing this Ron!

The humidity would have been taken care of by the sites environmental equipment during the operations of the site.
The cans of food there now as seen could have been better protected from the moisture if the current owners installed a de- humidifier where they stored that food.
I'm positive it would all most likely be edible if opened now. You'd just need to clean the outer contamination off of them.

If this site was operational in '61' it was one of the original 1 x 9 sites. Originally F.E. Warren had four Atlas missile sites surrounding Cheyenne WY. A site had I believe six silos and B,C and D had three each. In 61 nine single silos came on line. My favorite was located just north of Fort Collins CO at the entrance of Poudre (sp?) Canyon. There was a wonderful old gas station Called Ted's Place on hwy 14 and 87(?). Look it up, very special place. I was an Air Policeman (CDS) working the sites. Nice video thanks.

Basically large steel boxes but you could put a large drilling rig on top of them. You can look them up just by Googling “Cellar Tech”. We got bought by a big company and I got out of there. Hi @Canadian Prepper, @City Prepping, @AtlasSurvivalShelters, what Ron briefly highlights with the black spotted canned food, I experienced with overstocking canned food and not having a proper rotation schedule. Goes to show how important food storage is with humidity in the facilities. I'm curious how Ron is going to advise his customers on the issue.

The facility needs some type of central A/C just for dehumidification. A drier environment might help the place feel warmer and prevent rust. I wish I had a can of Dinty Moore right now. I also noticed the entry 40 ton door retaining walls showed signs of spalling. Those walls are well on the way to failure...sometime...unless they are repaired now.

I'd need to know the exact location of it to know if I'd be interested. I'm guessing it's near I-80 not far from Cheyenne WY because the proximity it is to Kimball NE which was disclosed in the video. If I had the funds, I probably would make an offer on it and rehab it into a luxury home and make my own version of Gunsite or Thunder Ranch (firearm training facilities); there's plenty of land to put in an outdoor range and plenty of room in the bunker for some indoor ranges. It's a shame the retracting missile silo roof wasn't left intact and operational. However, it does add to it being more concealable from the air.

Anything or everything else is probably up to par with what I think a Silo should be. As far as what is it worth? Excellent question. Oh, and the moisture in the shelter too. A lot of pro's with this shelter. Thanks for sharing this video.

The canned food that was stored there will have to be thrown away. Ordinary canned food is good for 2 to 5 years. If the can(s) get bloated and/or have rust on them, it's advisable to throw them away.

  • @WilliamAshleyOnline

I'm thinking some UV grow lights in the storage room could act to kill off mold spores.. and be usable for a grow room... really sad... the higher the humidity.. if there is corrosion I am guessing that the hg% probably like 80% humidity ... but anything over 60% and you will start having issues.. on the flip side if you have dehumidifiers too you can use the water pulled from the air as a water sources for growing/drip irrigation.

Problem with these type of bunkers are that they were designed to withstand a hit - they weren't designed to prevent a large group of people from gaining access. So the purpose of the bunker has changed from its original purpose. Now, people want bunkers to live in and KEEP PEOPLE from gaining entry. A lot would have to be done in order to change the purpose of this bunker. It's a great starting point - but I think a half dozen people with some tools and ingenuity would be able to enter it sooner or later.

Alot of dank concrete. Air circulation is a must.
    Residual Trichloroethylene, asbestos, lead paint.
Butt other than that hell yes!
The whole Atlas E system was abandoned for many reasons. One of the reasons was because from alert to launch time took too long. They drilled and practiced those 27 facilities to death but could not get the missile launch ready in under 22-24 minutes.
Every exercise they did involved filling the missile fuel tanks. It also meant unloading those tanks and running a solvent cleaner through the system too. This cleaner was usually pumped out topside on site lol
