- The 2024 Totality Solar Eclipse is a rare event which will not be visible from Earth until 2040. We made plans to see it in Totality. Not 80% or 90% but 100% Total Eclipse of the Sun.
We stayed at Catherine's Landing RV Resort in Hot Springs, Arkansas and were hoping the weather would cooperate. We checked the forecasts for days prior and even the morning of the event. We were prepared to drive to an area with clear skies if the need arose.
We awoke on Monday morning to sunny skies with high cirrus (?) clouds which soon gave way to crystal clear blue skies. We show you what it's like to experience this event in Totality.

RV Camping
We like to "Switch it Up" between resorts and campgrounds and boondocking is always an option.
We draw inspiration from Keep Your Daydream KYD, Less Junk More Journey, Finding Our Someday and Changing Lanes. We normally travel in an HDT similar to UA-cam channels Suite Travels, Switch it Up and Watts on Wheels. I also get some ideas from the editing style of Happily Ever Hanks (Happilyeverhanks) #thankshanks and believe it or not, I actually learned something from MRBeast Mr Beast video's as well.
Our journey is the destination. We want to share in our experiences in our discovery of What's Next.

We use the TSD card for diesel fuel and save a bundle each time we fill up our Big Rig. We also use it to fill up our Onan generator.

Our Class C is built by Thor Motorcoach on a Ford F550 chassis. It's a production build Magnitude model XG32. We tow our red Jeep Wrangler Sahara behind it. We've made some modifications to it so that we can boondock comfortably. Lithium batteries, Victron 3000w multi-plus inverter, dual alternators charge while traveling and mods to the water system greatly enhance it's boondocking capabilities.
Our extreme completely custom 5th wheel is built on a semi-trailer chassis with air suspension and air brakes. Completely loaded it weighs 42,000 lbs rolling down the highway. And we do roll down the highway nearly every week. You see, we believe that if your home has wheels they should be used.
Vehicles:
2016 Volvo VNL780 "Voyager"
2016 Smart fortwo "Pathfinder"
2019 SpaceCraft Custom built semi-trailer 5th wheel "Orion"
2023 Thor Magnitude XG32 Class C "Curiosity"
2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara "Artemis"
Power system:
3250 watts of solar with Panasonic panels
30.1 KWH of Lithium batteries
2- 4K watt Magnum Inverters deliver power as if we are on shore power
2- 4K watt 240v Cotek Inverters deliver additional power for our LG Mini split HVAC and stove
Coachnet is our roadside assistance company we use but hopefully we don't use them too often. LOL

My son and I drove from Idaho and I live in Wyoming, saw family in Chicago then booked a HipCamp Sunday night for $20 in Maynard Arkansas, and they let us stay as long as we wanted after the eclipse. Nice on the river spot. 100% Clear skies, was awesome. Shot hundreds of photos with my R5 and 70-200 lens. Nice job and glad you got to see it.
Sweet. That's fantastic and it kept you out of the "eclipse traffic".
I drove from Idaho to Oden Arkansas to watch the Eclipse. It was awesome. My plan was to go to Maine to watch it, all the weather advisors said cloud cover there. Turns out we could have.
That was our plan too, Sherry based on the weather. Maine had some of the clearest skies for the event...go figure! We were very fortunate that the weather cleared for us too. It was spectacular. Glad you got a chance to experience it.
What a totally awesome video, you two… You show the real excitement and energy of the moment.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was surreal.
Thank youal so much it was real nice of you al to do this my wife and I seen a 97% cover in mid Missouri first time we have seen a total we are in our late 70s thank you again
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching. We were amazed by the spectacle and wanted to share our experience.
I saw totality for about 3.5 minutes in Cleveland, OH. Really lucked out on the clear sky. You described so many aspects perfectly - especially that erie feeling 5 minutes before totality. My friend had to tell me to take off my protective glasses as soon as that last sliver of sun disappeared.
I live near and watched from a famous cemetery/nature preserve. All the wildlife got quiet. A hawk just “appeared” overhead about 30 minutes before totality and left about 15 minutes afterward.
I had never seen the “nocturnal” wildlife in the cemetery (they lock the gates at sundown).
I was in awe of the show in the sky, but took a moment to do a 360° video around us during totality. Seeing the light all around the horizon while it was dark up above was amazing.
A fair number of folks watched from the same area but we all had plenty of space. Overall, it was a once-in-a-lifetime gift I think I will hold onto for a very long time.
Still amazed I watched the whole thing in what is nearly my backyard.
There are a lot of jokes about Cleveland but this time we were in the right place at the right time.
Thanks again for your great video. I really appreciated the images and the commentary.
It was definitely a once in a lifetime event. The duration of totality was remarkable. Glad you experienced it firsthand.
"Total eclipse of the heart" by Bonnie Tyler. And being a world traveler I have seen 5 total solar eclipses in my adult life. I would travel to see more if I could. It's beyond being able to describe. Thank you so much for all your time and effort to bring us these amazing videos. Be healthy, stay safe and many blessings, Morgan
Yes I definitely missed on the song reference. Thank you. We're excited to have you along on the journey. 😊
Thank you so much for taking us along on such an incredible journey!
Our Lord has provided us with a glimpse of the darkness that covered the face of the earth on the day of our Saviors death.
Praise be to God for his incredible mercy.
Glad you enjoyed it!
We were at Mt. Gilead state Park in Ohio. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING view! Exactly as you guys showed it... sunny and 70 degrees for us and it got chilly! And we saw the same star show as you guys! Once in a lifetime for us! 😊
Definitely. That is fantastic to be able to see this celestial event in person.
So nice to actually see it get totally dark. For those of us that saw little of it this time because of our locations, watching NASA online showed the event in several cities but not from the ground point of view of it being totally dark. Thanks for sharing this.
Glad you enjoyed it and appreciate your time watching the channel. We wanted to show it from a more personal perspective.
What a treat for all your listeners‼️‼️I agree with you SondraTHANK YOU for letting us experience this with you‼️‼️‼️👍😊You captured ALL OF IT - it was hard to find words to describe what happened‼️All the cheering and horns honking was so FUN!!!😮I am saving this video to watch again‼️😊👍❤️💙‼️
It was amazing. We tried to capture what it was like to experience it and hope the pictures turn out. Thank you
I live close to Shreveport/ Bossier seen 99.98% amongst lots of clouds. But it was awesome. And Monday thru Wednesday we got storms. ❤
Oh wow! Timing is everything!
I heard so many folks say that the clouds parted just in time. Perfect!😊
Yes... that was a common sentiment out there for those in totality.
Surprisingly, we had totally clear skies in Searcy! Should have come our way! Lol
Nice. Glad you had a great view!
Thanks for the interrupted programming loved it. I think the song was “Total eclipse of the heart”
You are correct... my bad! Thanks 😄
Thanks for sharing!!! Where we are in southern Ontario, it was cloudy until about 1:30 pm and then the full sun came out. It then became eerie as just as it started to get dark, all of the birds stopped chirping and flew off. We're a bit north of the path of totality and more of the sun was eclipsed than we expected ie all but a small, narrow crescent shape along one edge. It was amazing! I read that some of the bright 'spots' that we could potentially see would be Venus. Mercury and possibly even Mars. Watching all of the media coverage last night, it was nice to see so many happy people gathered together to focus on the eclipse even it it was only for a short time.
Yes. Good to see. Those stars were planets, we're told, so that was fantastic.
That's still amazing. It was very eerie during totality. Dark yet not dark. So cool. Thanks for watching the channel.
Just watched this… incredible- thank you so very much.
I hope that by now y’all do know that the “the star” was actually the planet Jupiter
Thanks, Loretta. Yes, we definitely know! 😆 🤣 Our bad! We were just so taken aback by the celestial event that our brains went numb! Appreciate your time watching the channel. 😃
It was amazing! My son & I traveled to northern Ohio to see the eclipse.
So cool! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for sharing this. Way cool! Here in south Texas the clouds were really socked in. The RV park had a band and food trucks hanging out in their big parking lot. No eclipse experience but at least could party. 😂 I saw the total eclipse in Washington in 2017 so know those feelings and the awesomeness.
Glad you experienced it before. At least you had a party this time! Hope you enjoyed it.
Thank you for sharing this ,I loved seeing this
A total eclipse is so awesome. Everyone should see one.
I agree. We did this for our memories and our family but also for those not able to see it in person.
We saw it in Toledo Ohio yesterday, and it was AWESOME. Don Mclean song
Nice. That's great you saw it! Nothing like being there.
Woo pig sooie! That was surreal for sure. Glad you could visit our state to see the eclipse.
Loved being back! Woo Pig Sooiee! Razorbacks!
wow..an amazing view, thanks for sharing with those unable to see such an amazing event🤙🏽
Glad you could see it with us. Thank you for watching the channel. We're excited to be able to share our experiences.
I don't recall seeing a solar eclipse while growing up but in my navy days travels I got to see several. we would go to the gun turrets and look through the sighting glass to see the eclipse. this one, we did not get to have much of an eclipse here in town, plus I was having my teeth cleaned that day. I figured I didn't miss much
Totality was super cool. Hope everything went well at the dentist. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great video of totality it was wonderful. I can only imagine what it was like in person.❤
Glad you enjoyed it, Scott. Super cool in person and very surreal.
Thanks for sharing! We didn’t have anything in the Tampa area. 😎
Unfortunately, a little too far south for this one but excited you were able to experience this RARE event with us.
Impressive. Tnx so much for sharing. Be safe on rest of your run. 👍👍
Thanks, will do!
So many people took the day off to see the eclipse, that freight was scarce. I sat in my truck all day, ( watching UA-cam) waiting for my dispatch to find a load for me. I never even looked to see what time or if I'd be able to see it in Wilmington, IL, I missed it.😮
grrrr...but thank you for being on standby to keep the country running. I hope this was the next best thing.
Wow! Beyond awesome! We only had 50% coverage here in Wyoming, fairly cloudy, though it did get noticeably darker during the eclipse, that weird time you were talking about. Thanks so much for sharing this amazing experience!
Glad you enjoyed it and excited you could experience it with us.
That is Awesome. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I like that Hog shirt and this was another great occasion with you guys.❤ I wish I was parked next to you guys
Wooo Pig Sooiee! That would be fun. Thanks for the comments.
Thank you for such a great and unexpected video!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
I saw it 50yrs ago for the first time. now for the second time. and there is a possibility that i may see it for a third time.
Nice! Very cool indeed!
We had clear skys and it was so amazing. So glad your pictures turned out. Ours were just a orange blob through the filter.
Thank you very much. We could have been more prepared (camera filters) but we managed. It was truly a special event.
Didn't know y'all was that close to me. I live in Stuttgart Arkansas it's a little ways away. But I love Hot springs God bless you guys
Thank you. I graduated from Fayetteville and love coming back to the state during our travels.
This was a fun video to watch...and Hot Springs is one of my favorite places.
Thanks, Kerry. Such a cool experience. Hard to describe.
Totally eclipse of the heart is the song.
Thank you. 😃
Cirrus clouds is what meteorologists call them. But the technical term is fuzzy clouds!😊
🤣😎Well...we do try to be informative too! Thanks
Thank you for making our day with this Eclipse special. We are in New Zealand, at our last total eclipse, the birds stopped chirping as the darkness came, and then as the moon passed and light returned, the birds started up again. An amazing phenomenon ~ thank you for sharing this special day with us all.
Our pleasure! Glad we could share with our friends on the other side of the globe.
It was cloudy in Minnesota so we didn't see it. Thank you for sharing!
You are welcome. We're excited to share our experiences with everyone.
We had 50% partial eclipse here in San Diego! It was so cool!
That's neat to be able to see that. 50% is cool.
you did a great job! thank you! Penney & Robert OKC,OK
Glad you enjoyed it and really appreciate the comments. Thanks 😄
Now think about this… God created this whole world, and one day soon He will be coming back for His people the same way He left, from the sky… the difference is those that don’t know Him will not just be watching it get dark, they will be realizing they have been passed by and now they have a world of hell ahead of them, quite literally! For those of us who are children of God and have fought demons face to face and have seen the only thing that scares them is the name of Jesus, we have a tremendous burden to warn those who don’t know, yet all the while, we know many of them will just dismiss us as crazy… 😢 how you said that was humbling… that’s nothing compared to what it feels like to be infront of a holy God…
You guys were really blessed to be able to see that though! I didn’t get to see it except for just now by you guys and it was… wow!!! Thank you!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Appreciate your comments.
This was fantastic, thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure!
Thank you for sharing your experience!! I watched from my driveway in NC, there was no total coverage in my area.❤❤❤
Oh wow! Glad you got to see it. Totality was amazing. You're welcome, we enjoy sharing our experiences.
Total eclipse of the heart by Bonnie Tyler 😂❤
Thank you. I was not thinking straight at the time. Lol 😆
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!
We where in Daytona Beach and didn't have the opportunity to s see e the eclipse.
Our pleasure! Glad you could share it with us. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful photos! We're in NH on our deck...98% We did not get the diamond ring.
Songs: Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler
You're So Vain by Carly Simon..."you flew your Leer jet up to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun".
Very nice. Thank you. I remember both songs. Glad you could see it from home. 99% is so close!
Thank you very much.... I doubt I would have got to see it if it wasn't for this video❤
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks
Awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it.
Thks for video but seeing it live was 150% better. We had about 4 minutes of darkness also.( did not time) we were in Upper Sandusky Ohio. Just had to walk out front door and there it was.
If Ark. Like Ohio are Governor declared State of emergency for event. And the 360 degree sunset around bottom was neat.
No substitute for live that's for sure but this was mainly for our memories and for anyone not fortunate enough to experience it firsthand. Thanks
I live in Lakewood but watched from Avon to be 100% in the path. It was amazing!!
Was waiting for David to let out a geeky scream like the neighbors.
😆 🤣 hey...I guess... thanks?!? 😆
Thanks. In Colorado Springs, Co. we saw only the Crescent. The temperature did drop here as well. I probably won’t make it to the next one, so it was good to see this one. ( Although I would only be 98 and I do come from a Family that lived into the upper 90’s. to over 100’s…..Maybe‼️)
Positive thoughts... you'll see the next one!
so awesome, thank you very much for sharing
no the song is total eclipse of the heart by Bonnie Tyler
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow Amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you, loved seeing it through your lense
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another great video! It’s such an amazing feeling when the totality occurs 😎😎 and you did an awesome job of showing it. I’m in North Georgia and we were only able to visualize a partial eclipse nonetheless it was pretty cool too!
Amy type of eclipse is cool. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the comments.
That was Total awesomeness. Thanks for sharing the experience. This definitely was a wish I was there moment. Wishing you both safe travels
Glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate you taking the time to watch the channel.
Epic pictures
Thank you
Thankyou for your passion... 🙏❤😊
You're welcome, Claudio. We enjoy sharing our experiences with everyone. Glad you enjoyed it.
The eclipse was awesome. We had a total in NB Canada. It was amazing. When the moon covered the sun it was dark and it got cold. The birds went wonky. We had great weather for it .Thank you for showing everyone. Mad love from the east coast of Canada!!!
Oh wow! That is cool. It was a weird feeling. Glad you experienced it.
@@bigtruckbigtravels I'm so happy you shared it with people that were not in it's path. I took some pic's but not the right camera's. Awesome experience for sure :) Safe travel's . I love watching your adventures.
It happened at 3:20 pm for us in middle of Maine they said the best sighting was in Northern Maine near Houlton near the Canadian border.
Maine had phenomenal weather for this spectacular celestial event.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Pretty awesome.
Our pleasure! It was a special moment. Thank you for watching.
Hey guys. That was very cool. We were there sitting by the pond enjoying the great experience also.. and I saw your banner in front of your truck so I went on your channel and I saw you made a video of the solar eclipse, little did I know that you made a video and I could see myself in the background of your video😎👍
Oh... that's pretty cool... and such a small world. Thanks
I don't know if anyone else commented, but those two bright "stars" were Venus to the lower right and Jupiter to the upper left. Supposedly, Mercury was between the sun and Jupiter, but I wasn't able to make it out.
Thank you. Yes, I've been corrected a few times which is great. I was caught up in the moment. Appreciate everyone keeping me straight!
That was amazing! I saw it in Mazatlán México
Very cool, my friend.
That was amazing! We had a sunny day as well! Some one here said when we had totality that we also had a 360 degree sunset! The song was Total Esclispe of the Heart!😄😄😄
Yeah...I messed up on the song...didn't think about 360 sunset...saw it behind us in the distance. Thanks
"Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler is the song I think you remember, David.
😆 thanks, Rod. You are correct. My bad! Glad you guys made it back safely.
Thanks for the video! I loved seeing the eclipse from your view!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm in Michigan, my area saw 98% but it was still pretty amazing
Nice! That's still an amazing spectacle!
Great video. I live in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada where we go to witness that total eclipse, as well. I watched it from my apartment balcony through the tree branches. When the eclipse was full, the area darkened and the street lights came on.
That's fantastic you didn't have to leave your home. Some lights were turning on here as well. Thanks
Awesome video! We rented a house on Lake Hamilton and sat on the boat dock for almost 2 hours watching the boats going by and the totality. It was breathtaking!! That campground looks like a very nice one. Safe travels!
That is awesome! I'll bet the views and atmosphere were unbelievable! Very nice. Thanks 😄
Thaks❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤here in Ks. It didnt get dark we had the sun
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching
That was amazing-thank you so much for sharing! Safe travels!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your comments.
Thank you so much for sharing. So beautiful!❤
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching
Thats awesome
Appreciate the comment.
So glad you were able to see it. I got to experience the total solar eclipse of 2017. It was one of my favorite experiences of my life. Thanks for sharing.
Oh wow! So cool. It's funny but we were in Alaska for the eclipse of 2017 & 2023.
I was in Melbourne, AR and had a great viewing… images are on my Facebook page
We really appreciate your time watching the channel and are excited to have you along on the journey. Thanks for being a part of the story.
When we had the total eclipse in 2017 in Wyoming, my husband and I packed into the Wind River Mountains and experienced it at 11,000.00 Boy talk about being cold, Sandra wouldn't have liked that. Our dog was freaking out but the other animals were just chill. I am so glad you were able to experience this. And I love your channel!!
Thank you. That sound be quite the view and experience at 11K feet! Very nice! Appreciate the comments and your time watching the channel. 😃
I believe that the bright star to the lower right is actually Venus. So glad that you got to see it clearly!!!
Thank you. And you're correct about Venus. It was amazing.
Dim is the word I used to explain to my grandson
Yes. Good word. Another one would be "muted", we got that one from a viewer.
Thank you for sharing. We had 4 minutes 21 seconds of totality in West Tawakoni Texas. Unforgettable.
Oh wow! That's cool!
Thank you! Much better than in the Phoenix area…..
Just a little too far west this time. But I'm sure it was clear in PHX!
It cleared for us here South of Fort Worth, just in time
Nice. That was very fortunate. Glad you saw it.
I don’t if you knowledge that it’s not Thursday we are seeing you today Tuesday hi and we are every week here to see you
I'll see you on Thursday, this was a special release.
Thanks for the show 👍
Any time! Say ... how about this Thursday then?!? 😆 🤣
We got to see totality near Erie Pennsylvania. The ethereal light just before totality was so cool and we were so surprised at how dark it got with a 360 degree "sunset". An experience so worth the effort, we all got emotional and so pleased to be able to be part of this event.
It was incredible and very surreal. Glad you were a part of it.
Your experience was similar to mine. I'm a trucker, and I arranged to have Monday off at our yard near Dallas. The forecast looked horrible Sunday morning, and Monday early morning was solid overcast. By the start of the event, we had that same thin, high overcast that you had, and we were now partly cloudy, with a decent breeze moving the clouds.
This worked well here, as you could see the sun directly through the thicker clouds, and with the glasses between them. And for the whole five minutes of totality here, we had a HUGE gap in the clouds. Beautiful.
The few minutes around totality were a bit eerie. It felt like twilight, but with shadows. One of the other drivers that was out there with me said it just felt... wrong. Regardless, I'm of the age that I'm not likely to see another solar eclipse in the USA, so I was glad to have seen it.
And David, the "total eclipse" song wasn't by Blondie. You're thinking about Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart". That song has been referenced many times recently. What many people don't know is that it's a vampire love song...
Thank you... and ok... didn't know what the song was about...oh my! Glad you had a great view on Big D. We had friends in the area that saw it as well. Appreciate your comments. Thanks again.
Incredibly cool. Well done guys
Thanks, Brendan. It was surreal.
100%____total for us! We have an Airstream___went early to central TX. Words can NOT describe. Come visit more of New Mexico____plenty to see. Enjoy your work, thanks
Thanks. Definitely coming back to NM. Glad you saw totality. It was awesome inspiring.
Hi guys!! Thanks for sharing this!! Being in Washington state we had clouds, heavy rain and high winds. No eclipse here. That was amazing!! 💜
Sorry about that but it was so surreal. Glad you could see it.
Loved watching this with you! Thanks for sharing 😀
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
Wow amazing our one in South Africa coming 2030
Oohhh?!? We'd love to visit South Africa! Hmmm...maybe another one for us?!?
It was awesome in nw Ohio also
Nice. Great skies for viewing!
I just looked it up. Bonnie Tyler has a hit with "Total Eclipse of yhe Heart" but Don McLean had a song "Total Eclipse of the Sun."
Ok. I like that! Also, Carly Simon with "You're so Vain"...took a plane to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun...
@@bigtruckbigtravels love Carly Simon. She has done several albums of old standards that are excellent
Thank you for the video.
You are very Welcome!
So glad you had a the perfect setup and sunny moment! Blessings to you both.
Thank you! You too! Glad we could share it.
Starting @ 6:40 ... My OCD just can't let go of seeing your Watch Band end sticking out without being held down with the little retainer strap... Now I'll have this on my mind FOREVER. THANKS.
😆 I usually always move it but I was a little preoccupied. Thanks... and sorry for the visual!
@@bigtruckbigtravels I have to buy new watch bands for my Luminox Watches about every 3 months 'cause those little band straps fail..
Jealous that you could just walk back into your home and didn't have to fight the traffic to get home. Took me twice as long to get back home than it took to get to Russellville. The cheers at my location were a bit louder, but we didn't honk any horns. I failed on my video, so glad you are so good at catching the moments you do. Was so weird having a "Sunset" without but having it on all sides and not just at the West.
We were very spoiled with the location. We saw some of the 360 sunset but it didn't register at the time.
Total Eclipse of the Heart sung by Bonnie Tyler back in the 80s. And thanks for showing us folks who live where it wasn't viewable. So cool.
Glad you enjoyed it, Carol. We did it for our memories and for all who couldn't be in totality. Thanks
