Thanks for the question. The difference between wye or delta configuration is how voltage is expressed across the windings and thus how current is taken from the supply. The motor as a system sees a different voltage, as the delta rating is lower than the wye rating but the windings see the same voltage and current. Essentially delta/wye allow you to connect different supply voltages to the motor while expressing the same voltage across each individual winding.
