I have to admit that the steel frame actually does make a difference. I have been riding my Straggler for a couple of months now and I'm noticing that I do not have any numbness in my hands and somehow it feels more comfortable to me. Like you, I commute back and forth to and from work. My route is on a very harsh road and dirt environment and it handles it just fine.
really great review! I have a cheap giant contend road bike which gets the job done (I do about 20 - 40 miles usually), but I'd really like to make the switch to a sturdier, more comfortable ride. it seems like we have similar riding styles and you just answered most if not all of my questions. thanks, man!
I have a few surly’s now they work well for me. I been thinking of a struggler. Your thoughts on this bike really good. I think you would like a long haul, it been my favorite for a lot of years. A little over kill most time but for going everyplace with fatter tires it great. Have a wonderful ride!
Glad you like the Straggler. I’ve been your weight before, and up to around 280. You would also love the Trucker and you wouldn’t be much slower on it. Another one that’s perfect for you would be the Ogre. Basically can’t go wrong.
Great video and advice. I also bought a 8 year old Surly Troll and love it. I heard the Midnight special uses narrow tires compared to your Straggler. I'm also a larger guy and having wider tires does help cushion the ride. Cheers.
i ride AU but still want a straggler. NORCO indi4 with a Troll fork and DEORE drivetrain for beating on and an old trek 7300fx as a daily. nice bike bro.
I ride a all city super professional, steel is real , looking at a straggler 52 , but I don’t know if size suits me ,looked at surly sizing specs online , I can fit a 52, 54 & 56 , I’m 5,10 , my question to u is wats your height ? Would help determine wat size I should be riding,I got a 52 on all city with 55 stand over height, feel I could fit a 55 in all city
First off, great review! I'm also a bigger guy and this is exactly what I was looking for. I purchased mine a week ago and am loving it. I was also planning on getting the same saddle and weighing my options on rack setups. How tall are you? I haven't cut my tube yet as I was worried about cutting it too short like you did 😂. Thanks again.

I affirm you for your riding discipline . I myself ride 20 miles per day, 5 days per week. Thanks for the info on surly bikes. Bless you .
Much appreciated review. Great to see the rack & bag in use

hence the name Straggler. Beautiful ride.
That color😍! Lovin the tan sidewalls too though.

Awesome bike! Love SURLY. Thanks for the vid!!!
Nice and strong bike, congratulations. I would have also been distracted by the bird flying behind lol

nice video 👍 I ride a straggler as a fixed gear, so I need those long dropouts to tension the chain.
Video + list of components or it didn't happen!

Love the review brother
How the rims hold up for u being a bigger guy? U talked about brakes how much it cost u to put on disc brakes? Good video!
Nice thorough review.
Beautiful bike man
Great video thank you
Enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing.
Great review! Nice bike, enjoy.
Your riding style is known as straggling by Surly fans...lol.Good review, there is something about a Surly.
Hey Rob, 45 seems a bit tight on the rear dropout. With more usage, have they rubbed on the frame ? Thanks

I love the bike but hate those dropouts
I’m 5.10/5.11 (33 max inseam). What are your measurements. I’m considering getting the 56cm

very nice, love the color... l am planning to buy a Surly disc Trucker... 26in wheels..
Great video bro! Thank you 🙏 Can you recommend me where can I get a surly in Bay Area ?
Great info thanks for the video. How tall are you. I am trying to gage a which size to purchase i am 5” 7” i am thinking 54 but maybe 56.
I’m 5’7 and ride a 50cm. The Straggler has a long reach so I think you might want to size down, unless you like an aggressive ride.
Great review especially for a big boy like me…
Nice #SuperNice !!!
Do you happen to have the fork you cut too short ?
Yes but I ended up putting it back on I just flip the stem! …..and I just wanted the fork to match..
@@robadventures4778 ahh dang I was going to say I was willing to buy it.
I dont like the rear dropouts either.
