Open the breach of the gun and close the hatches The constant supply of dry temperature controlled air being pumped in through the gun barrel keeps the interior of the tank from corroding or freezing. When the tanks are needed the mechanics unhook the air hose , drive it into a garage , do a full lubrication and oil change and then drive the tank onto a rail car. There still.are some T-72 and T-80 tanks that are "hooked up" but Russia has been pulling unpreserved T-62 and T-54/55's because those tanks don't use 125mm ammo. There's no point in pulling more T-64/72/80 tanks out of storage when you're running low on 125mm ammo. So the T-62 with its 115mm gun is being pulled out "Modernized" and sent to the front with ammo from N.korea. The T-54/55 tanks with their 105 mm guns are being used as "artillery". A lot of tanks are being "parted out" Engines and transmissions pulled and sent to factories Turrets are being pulled and sent to the front because the main guns on a tank wears out after 200-300 rounds and Russian mechanics can replace the turret faster than rebuilding the autoloader and putting a new liner in the barrel. I don't think Putin understands the concept of "pyrrhic victory'

That is around 2100 T-90 and they have over 2400 T-72. So between 4000-4500 T series in inventory. They had planned on ordering another 500 or so T-90 but it is unclear if that is going to happen or not. So, I guess it is still a long ways from 5000 for now but still over 4000 is a huge stockpile. More importantly, they are all in working order and have been getting periodic upgrades

That instantly cut their credibility, and I discounted their estimate. The Armata production line was funded for several years without ever being built. The project was effectively canceled in 2018 with only seven hand built mock-ups/prototypes. There is no chance that any production shop space is being used for it.

How many OLD tanks and armored vehicles does Russia have? (Mid 1960s and earlier, excluding the T-54/55 and T-62/64's we've already seen). Between training bases, deep storage, and live museums. Stuff like the T-34, T-44, ISU-152, IS-2, IS-3, T-10/IS-8, T-26, BT Series, PT-76, KV Tanks, SU-100, and some prototype vehicles.
They also have very little battlefield capability in terms of range, optics, night vision etc I would say they are useful as static artillery pieces only.
T-10/IS-8 is the oldest that have in any real numbers that could be used, iirc the DPR/LPR received some T-10's last year as spg's however the t54 is the oldest they would/could field also as a spg or converted into a turtle tank iirc we saw a couple sent early this year
In active service? I would guess about 70-80 T-54/55s, 300-400 T-62s, and less than 50 T-64s. I’m taking Covert Cabal’s tank withdrawal videos and adding Ukrainian tanks that have been captured (Oryx) and then subtracting out losses (Oryx). Russian losses= (destroyed / .7) + (captured / 1) Not sure about reserve. The older WW2 tanks don’t show up in Covert Cabal’s tank counting videos. Maybe in a parade ground’s storage facility or museum?
With sanctions they'd be lucky to produce 200/year. it would take decades to build reserves up again, if they could even afford it with 21% interest rates and nearly 9% inflation.
I want to see Russia lose, but I think the idea this sets Russian armor back decades is nieve. I've read that a Nato general estimstes Russia can produce and refurbish around 1200 MBTs a year. I'm having trouble finding production of new mbts ONLY but lets say it's only 400. That means they can replinish their stock of high quality armor in as little as a decade. Now will the Russian economy be able to support such a high level of mulitary spending outside of war for so long? I've no idea, but Russia has shown that while it may have been more bark than bite in some regards, it's also more relient than previously thought in terms of sanctions and economy. We need to take Russia seriously, they are a legitimate threat.

I’m taking Covert Cabal’s tank withdrawal videos and adding Ukrainian tanks that have been captured (Oryx) and then subtracting out losses (Oryx).
Russian losses= (destroyed / .7) + (captured / 1)
Not sure about reserve. The older WW2 tanks don’t show up in Covert Cabal’s tank counting videos. Maybe in a parade ground’s storage facility or museum?

They have burned though several decades worth of armor with virtually no way to replace it.
If Russia now is worse off than Soviet Union, wouldn't that make it closer to a "century" than a "decade"?
With sanctions they'd be lucky to produce 200/year. it would take decades to build reserves up again, if they could even afford it with 21% interest rates and nearly 9% inflation.
I want to see Russia lose, but I think the idea this sets Russian armor back decades is nieve. I've read that a Nato general estimstes Russia can produce and refurbish around 1200 MBTs a year. I'm having trouble finding production of new mbts ONLY but lets say it's only 400. That means they can replinish their stock of high quality armor in as little as a decade.
Now will the Russian economy be able to support such a high level of mulitary spending outside of war for so long? I've no idea, but Russia has shown that while it may have been more bark than bite in some regards, it's also more relient than previously thought in terms of sanctions and economy.
We need to take Russia seriously, they are a legitimate threat.

What new equipment? Russia barely produces new equipment, and they can't replace what they pull out of storage. They run out of weapons.

Well, it does make sense to empty out/move the tanks that are farthest away a bit closer to where they are needed I guess. But even so, this is good news 👍
IMO, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to dilute the counting content with some analysis a little more like the olden days. Don't know where you stand on this and you're most definitely in the satelite's pilot seat but just so you know ! no gonna quit watching anyway
